Factors affecting acceptance of “E-Pelarian Cukai” system among Malaysians
“E-Pelarian Cukai,” also known as the tax evasion reporting system, was launched on January 1st, 2023, and the cases reported as of September 2023 were 2829 cases. The objective of this study is to examine factors affecting the acceptance of the “E-Pelarian Cukai” system among Malaysians by using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Variable factors such as perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (PEOU), reward (RW), and awareness (AW) will be tested to determine if they influence the acceptance of this system. Drawing on the quantitative research method, 329 usable responses were collected through an online survey form. 23.7% of the usable responses were familiar with the system, while 76.3% never used the system yet. By using SmartPLS to run the test, the results show that perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use significantly influence the acceptance of the “E-Pelarian Cukai” system among Malaysians. While reward and awareness are also a crucial factor for the acceptance of this system. The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM) should integrate robust rewards into the system, which is believed to increase user satisfaction and overall system acceptance. The design of these programs should align with the preferences and needs of IRBM as required by policymakers in terms of tax collection in the country, besides investing in targeted initiatives to increase awareness about the "E-Pelarian Cukai" system

Agricultural development of waqf lands for ummah empowerment in Perlis
The development of waqf land in Malaysia provides many benefits and positive impacts to the community. The waqf land available in each state can be developed in various sectors such as the religious, education, health, agricultural, and economic sectors to empower ummah and the national economy. The agricultural sector is one of the sectors that have the potential to be developed using waqf land because it has the potential to help the community especially the asnaf group from an economic point of view such as providing jobs, increasing income, and guaranteeing food security. However, even though there is a lot of waqf land, there are still 16 lots of waqf land in Perlis that have not yet been developed because sometimes this waqf land cannot be developed due to several issues and challenges that prevent the development of waqf land. Among the problems that arise that cause waqf land not to be developed are the location of waqf land that is not strategic for development, lack of funds, lack of expertise among the staff of the Islamic Religious Council, lack of community understanding about waqf and also the issue of waqf land that is not registered under the Perlis Council of Islamic Religion and Malay Customs (MAIPs). Thus, this study aims to investigate the status of waqf land in Perlis, identify issues and challenges in developing waqf land in Perlis, and study the potential development of waqf land for the agricultural sector in Perlis. This study uses qualitative methods for data collection to achieve its goals. This study uses document content analysis methods and in-depth interviews conducted with officials at MAIPs, officials at the Perlis State Department of Agriculture, and people with expertise in waqf. Findings show that there are still waqf lands in Perlis that have not been developed because there are various issues and challenges to develop them. The issues and challenges that arise are due to the location of waqf land unsuitable for development projects, lack of funds, and the problem of waqf land not being registered under MAIPs. In addition, the study found that the undeveloped waqf land in Perlis has the potential to be developed for the agricultural sector because it is seen as having the potential to empower and help the community in addition to being able to guarantee food security. The implications of the findings suggest that the MAIPs need to collaborate with the Perlis State Department of Agriculture to succeed in the waqf land development project as an agricultural sector so before this project is carried out it is necessary to choose suitable crops to be planted on the waqf land to produce good crops that can be marketed. There are several ways to market agricultural products, including selling directly to consumers, selling to wholesalers, or marketing to supermarkets. In addition, can get marketing assistance from the Malaysian Federal Marketing Authority (FAMA)

A dynamic model of the Perak welfare program towards zero rated poverty
Perak has implemented many programs to tackle poverty issues. Despite various programs, the poverty rate in Perak is still among the highest rate in Malaysia. Therefore, there is a need to understand the interplay of factors contributing to poverty and identify the most effective strategies for poverty eradication. This study develops a system dynamics model to evaluate the impact of the Perak Welfare Program on achieving a zero-poverty rate. The model incorporates feedback loops and time-dependent relationships among key factors such as education, income, employment, and welfare interventions. Using Vensim software, a stock-and-flow model was developed to simulate the dynamic behavior of poverty under different policy scenarios. Data for the model were drawn from both primary and secondary sources, including interviews with program officers and government reports. The findings reveal that long-term investments in education and employment schemes yield the most significant reductions 90.6% in poverty, outperforming short-term measures such as direct financial aid. By revising budget allocations based on the sensitivity analysis and implementing targeted interventions, the study demonstrates that a coordinated and data-driven approach can effectively break the poverty cycle in Perak. The developed model provides clear perspective into the complex dynamics of poverty reduction, offering policymakers a robust tool for designing and evaluating welfare strategies in achieving equitable and impactful poverty eradication outcomes
Determinants of repayment performance of Microfinance Institutions among borrowers: The moderating effect of IT capability
Microfinance Institution (MFI) plays a crucial role in alleviating poverty and reducing unemployment by offering credit and saving resources to poor people who lack financial services. However, MFIs face challenges related to borrower default, which threatens their sustainability. Therefore, this research aimed to examine the interconnections among various factors, such as innovation, trust, management skill, and training, in relation to borrowers' repayment performance in the MFI. The study also investigated the role of IT capability as a moderating factor in this relationship. Due to persistently high rates of default on repayment among microfinance agencies, these factors were deemed essential variables for investigation. The study used primary data to achieve its objectives, collecting responses from 200 participants for the final data analysis. Descriptive statistics were employed using SmartPLS software to analyse the data and test the hypotheses. Nine hypotheses were tested through both the measurement model and the structural model. The study's findings revealed two significant positive relationships: one between trust and MFIs' loan repayment performance, and another between IT capability and MFIs' repayment performance. Conversely, no significant relationships were found between innovation, training, management skills, and trust with IT capability, as well as between innovation, training, and management skills with IT capability as moderators. This study utilized the Resource-Based View (RBV) model and Principal- Agent Theory (PAT) as its foundational theories. The study is significant from a theoretical standpoint because it sheds light on the factors that contribute to MFI repayment performance, which can ultimately help improve the effectiveness and sustainability of microfinance initiatives. The implications of this study also could assist policymakers and MFI institutions in monitoring loan repayments among borrowers, ultimately helping to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of microfinance initiatives
Assessing community readiness for rainwater harvesting: A case study of rural areas in Kedah
The increase in the global population demanded a continuous clean water supply. Despite the significant rainfall in Malaysia, rural areas in Kedah were facing water scarcity and lacking clean water supply. The issue arises due to some problems including the lack of sustainable water management practices among rural communities in Kedah. This leads to the suggestion of adopting a rainwater harvesting system (RWHS) as the best alternative solution to address the issue. Hence, this research aims to assess the readiness factors among rural communities in Kedah regarding implementing RWHS, focusing on awareness, knowledge, and motivation. The objectives of this study were to examine the necessity of implementing RWHS in Kedah’s rural areas and identify the main reasons that drive the rural communities to adopt this system. This research was significant as it was the first to assess the three readiness factors in the context of rural communities in Malaysia. A quantitative method was employed, involving 389 respondents from the Desa KEDA community across four zones in Kedah: Zone 3 (Pendang/ Pokok Sena), Zone 4 (Sik), Zone 7 (Kuala Muda/ Yan), and Zone 8 (Kota Setar/ Kubang Pasu). Data were collected by distributing questionnaires and have been analysed using SPSS version 22. The findings show that the factors of awareness and motivation among rural communities in Kedah have a significant relationship with the implementation of RWHS, while the knowledge factor shows a negative relationship. Theoretically, this study contributed to the use of the Attitude-Behaviour-Context (ABC) and Ecological Modernization theory in studying the context of awareness, knowledge and motivation in assessing rural communities' readiness in implementing RWSH. From a practical point of view, this study found that RWHS has great potential to be implemented in rural areas of Kedah based on the factors of readiness studied. This will indirectly contribute to sustainable water management practices among the rural community in facing the issues of water scarcity
Development of Wire-Bonding Dispatch System Using Lean Six Sigma for Semiconductor Back-End Assembly
In the rapid growth of the semiconductor industry, subcontractors are highly competitive to gain their market segment and sustain the business. The ability to meet the shipment commits is critical, often gated by the process cycle time. Increasing challenges arise with high product customization in a make-to-order (MTO) environment. Such a company is Carsem (M) Sdn. Bhd. which had faced the issues of long cycle time resulting in shipment de-commits, and profit loss. The manual planning procedure could not cater to the demands of a quick turnaround for complex product
Exploring the effectiveness of corpus-driven learning in teaching lexical collocation to Pakistani undergraduates
Foreign language acquisition is more likely to increase if the attention of the learners is consciously drawn to linguistic features. The direct exposure of certain features from corpora like collocation helps EFL/ESL non-native learners in language acquisition. The present research study explains the effect of corpus-driven language learning (CDLL) on Pakistani EFL undergraduates and explores the opinion of language users about it. The experimental research design following mixed-method approach has been applied to 100 undergraduates, comprising 50 students for experimental and 50 for the control group from the department of Applied Linguistics GC University Faisalabad Pakistan. In a pre-test the knowledge of lexical collocations of learners were evaluated; data was collected quantitatively to measure the results of both groups to test the p-value from t-score. Then, among the sample of the study, the experimental group were undergone explicit learning with the compilation of adhoc corpora of editorials of Pakistani and British newspapers to look for certain lexical patterns under the supervision of the teacher and compared the lexical collocations they extracted in both corpora. In this case, learners became researchers and language became data (Boulton, 2018). Whereas, the control group was treated with traditional approaches in teaching English collocations. After experimental treatment of one semester (16 weeks), the results of the post-test revealed that CDLL method affected positively and enhanced the knowledge of lexical collocations more among the experimental group than the control group as the p-value of the data decreased. Then a semi-structured interview was conducted among the participants of the experimental group and the faculty members of the department to seek their opinion about the effectiveness of corpus-driven language learning (CDLL). The study has strong pedagogical implications for academicians and researchers regarding the importance of CDLL in the course design of ELT Methods and Approaches
