New procedure for protozoan white sport disease detection in mariculture fish based on artificial intelligence
Protozoan white spot disease, caused by Cryptocaryon irritans, poses a significant threat to marine fishes, resulting in a 100% mortality rate within a short period. Its impact extends beyond fish health, severely affecting commercial mariculture and causing substantial economic losses. The current standard procedure for early fish disease detection, reliant on time-consuming external gross observation, underscores the need for faster and more reliable automated approaches. In response to this issue, this study explores Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a transformative tool in fish disease detection. This study involved fine-tuning several convolutional neural networks (CNN) architectures including AlexNet, ResNet50, GoogleNet, ResNet101, and Vgg16Net to discern the most effective architecture for the proposed new procedure. Leveraging the success of CNN, particularly using the CNN’s ResNet50 architecture, this study introduced a new procedure via integration of contrast-adaptive colour correction (CACC) with CNN for protozoan white spot disease detection using underwater images. Experimental finding reveals outstanding performance of the procedure, with the ResNet50 CNN architecture integrated with CACC achieving a testing accuracy of 99.52% on the acquired dataset, indicating that this new procedure holds immense promise in early fish disease prevention and intervention by providing an efficient and precise approach to protozoan white spot disease detection. While this experimental stage study demonstrates encouraging results, future endeavours should focus on extensive refinement and collaboration to elevate the procedure’s readiness for on-site implementation. In summary, the integration of AI-driven techniques not only improves detection accuracy but also streamlines processes, potentially safeguarding marine fish populations and the aquaculture industry

Humanitarian supply chains are processes and networks that aim to provide essential services and goods to organisations and entities in this field. It is considered a fundamental pillar that significantly affects the performance of non-governmental
organisations (NGOs). However, some humanitarian supply chains are considered costineffective because they operate in unstable environments and require more funding to achieve necessary humanitarian goals. This study aimed to investigate the impact of the humanitarian supply chain on the performance of NGOs with the moderation of organisational culture. Previous literature on the humanitarian supply chain and the performance of NGOs was reviewed to support the study. The study adopts the Dynamic
Capabilities View (DCV) theory the questionnaire was adopted as a tool for this study, as the quantitative approach was used. The study population consisted of directors of relief organizations and supply chain managers in those organizations, and the study
sample amounted to 310. The Partial Lease Square - Structural Equation Modeling (PLSSEM) was employed to test the hypotheses. The results of this study show the impact of resilience in the context of humanitarian supply chains on relief organizations in Jordan. Humanitarian organizations need resilience to respond to changing situations. Meanwhile, Organisational culture acts as a strategic asset, influencing the organisation’s effectiveness by shaping people’s behaviour towards it, thereby impacting performance. A notable recommendation from this study is the need for further investigation into the humanitarian supply chain and the performance of NGOs in Jordan. Guidelines For Managing Soil And Geotechnical Aspects In Housing Developments
Despite the remarkable growth in the Malaysian housing sector since Independence Day, the persistent occurrence of soil-related problems remains a significant concern. Despite the existing laws, these issues persist without effective resolution. This study analysed management and law literature, specifically exploring soil-related issues and liability in housing failures. It aimed to understand how such problems can be avoided in housing developments, focusing on legal implications and parties’ liability. Through analysing management and law literature, it aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of legal issues associated with soil problems and identify potential causes and remedies. This research emphasizes the importance of early identification and proactive management of soil issues to minimize legal disputes and ensure project success. Additionally, this research investigates potential legislative deficiencies that may indirectly lead to local problems associated with soil problems and their consequences. To assess the theoretical framework, the research conducted interviews with ten practitioners and ten affected residents, employing a social phenomenon approach. The data were analysed manually using thematic analysis by writing notes
on the texts. The study ends by suggesting improvement in the existing legal provisions and remedies, such as the Street Drainage Building Act 1974 (Act 133), the Town Country Planning Act 1976 (Act 172), and the Uniform Building By-Law 1984. Through qualitative case studies of housing project failures in Dengkil, Sepang, and Penang, the findings revealed legal issues during construction stages, including failures in soil condition advisement, ineffective repair work, lax supervision, and inadequate enforcement. Resolution approaches involved thorough inspections, engineer interventions, and government funding for maintenance, underlining the necessity for adequate supervision and enforcement. These case studies were selected based on data
