Modeling digitalization for green logistics initiatives: A qualitative exploration towards sustainable freight forwarding
Sustainability development has become a key agenda in global industries, such as logistics, in which environmentally friendly practices are introduced. The role of digitalization, specifically paperless trade systems, is increasingly recognized as a driver for enhancing environmental sustainability in Malaysia’s freight forwarding sector. Despite the growing emphasis on green logistics, a significant number of Malaysian freight operators still rely heavily on manual, paper-based processes, leading to operational inefficiencies, slower processing times, and increased environmental degradation through excessive paper consumption. The research aims to examine the current level of digitalization adoption, identify challenges in implementing digital tools, explore the environmental implications of paperless trade systems, and propose a sustainable digital framework for the freight forwarding industry. The research focus on freight forwarding companies in the northern region, specifically Penang and Kedah, and employs a qualitative research design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with twelve industry professionals, providing in-depth insights into organizational practices, regulatory influences, and technological readiness. Findings revealed that while adoption levels vary, impacts on paper consumption, efficiency improvements, and carbon tracking capabilities demonstrate the potential of digitalization to support sustainability. However, barriers such as cost constraints, limited infrastructure, and inconsistent regulatory enforcement hinder widespread adoption. Research findings will help to guide future strategies in advancing green logistics in emerging economies like Malaysia. To address these gaps, the research proposes the Sustainable Digital Logistics Integration (SDLI) model, which integrates technological innovation, organizational readiness, sustainability metrics, and supportive policy frameworks. This model offers a practical and scalable roadmap for industry stakeholders and policymakers, aiming to accelerate the transition toward a digitally integrated and environmentally sustainable freight forwarding ecosystem in Malaysia

The impact of risk management functions and professional training on enterprise risk management and organizational continuity of performance in the UAE Ministry of Interior
This study was an exploratory investigation into the impact of various risk management factors on enterprise risk management, and the subsequent influence on employees' performance and organisational continuity of performance within the Ministry of Interior in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The research was guided by the theoretical framework of strategic management theory, proposing a conceptual model that connects four risk management factors (risk identification, risk assessment, risk response, and risk monitoring and reporting), enterprise risk management, employees' performance, organisational continuity of performance, and professional training. The study focused on a specific population of 214 middle to top management staff members in the UAE Ministry of Interior, with the sample selected through stratified random sampling. Analysis techniques included structural equation modelling using SmartPLS 3 software, along with bootstrapping for significance testing. The data was meticulously screened, ensuring adherence to the assumptions of normality, linearity, homoscedasticity, and absence of multicollinearity. The findings provided robust support for all hypothesised relationships in the conceptual framework, indicating a significant influence of the risk management factors on enterprise risk management, and in turn, on employees' performance and organisational continuity of performance. Furthermore, the results underscored the importance of professional training as a significant moderator, reinforcing the influence of enterprise risk management on the performance dimensions. Based on these findings, the study recommends the ministry to intensify its focus on risk management practices, and to invest in professional training to improve both employee performance and organisational continuity of performance. For future studies, the research suggests a comparative investigation between public and private sectors, inclusion of more influencing variables, examination of other potential moderators, a longitudinal study design, the use of alternative data collection methods, and exploration of intervention effects to broaden the current understanding in the field
Development of scholarly data visualization framework for publication collaboration mapping using network-based technique
Publication collaboration is pivotal for enhancing the visibility and impact of research. Universities worldwide seek to improve rankings position such as the QS World University Ranking, where publication quality and collaboration play a crucial role. Despite numerous studies on visualizing collaborations, integrating datasets from Scopus and internal university database to map collaboration and ranking relationships remains underexplored. This study attempts to address challenges in effective data visualization to enhance understanding and strategic planning for publication collaborations. Thus, this study aims to develop a scholarly data visualization framework integrating Scopus and internal university database to map publication collaborations. This framework seeks to enhance decision-making processes by enabling interactive exploration of collaboration networks and consequently recognize their impact on university rankings, specifically for Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) as a case study. The data integration from both Scopus and internal university database has been used in the development of a network-based visualization framework for publication collaboration mapping. Interactive tools, including statistical graphs and network maps were also established. Expert reviews and usability tests validated the framework's effectiveness, highlighting improved data coherence as well as the ability to identify collaboration patterns and trends. The developed framework enhances the visualization of publication collaborations significantly, enabling a clear identification of collaboration patterns at internal, national, and international levels. Notably, internal collaborations account for the largest percentage of the university's publication affiliations, comprising 60.29% of the total with 1,201 internal collaborations recorded. The framework also highlights areas requiring strategic attention, such as increasing collaboration with higher-ranked universities. For instance, collaborations with higherranked institutions constitute only 21% of the university’s total collaborations. Expert feedback further validated the framework, emphasizing its ability to provide valuable insights into collaboration trends and their implications for improving the university's rankings. Therefore, this study contributes a novel visualization framework that supports academic institutions in optimizing publication collaborations. The study demonstrates its practical implications in decision-making for improving publication impact and university rankings. Beyond theoretical contribution, the framework offers societal benefits by fostering strategic collaboration, enhancing publication quality, and supporting data-driven policies in higher education

Sharia compliant stock market performance of ASEAN-3 countries: A comparative study with conventional counterparts
This study investigates the risk-adjusted performance of Shariah-compliant and conventional stock indices in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore from 2017 to 2023. Using a comparative study with a quantitative approach, the research evaluates performance through Risk-Adjusted Return Ratios (Sharpe Ratio, Treynor Ratio, and Jensen Alpha) and the GARCH Model to assess efficiency, risk exposure, and the ability to generate excess returns. A t-test is also conducted to determine whether there are statistically significant differences in returns between the two types of indices, along with MAPE analysis to identify which stocks demonstrate greater resilience. The findings indicate that Shariah-compliant stocks generally exhibit more stable risk-adjusted returns, as reflected in higher Sharpe and Treynor Ratios during certain periods. The Jensen Alpha results reveal that these stocks can generate positive abnormal returns under specific conditions. However, the t-test does not reveal a statistically significant difference in average returns between Shariah and conventional indices. The results of the MAPE analysis suggest that Shariah compliant stocks demonstrate better resilience compared to conventional stocks. These findings are consistent with previous research highlighting the resilience of Shariah-compliant stocks due to their financial screening criteria. This research provides valuable insights for future studies, investors, policymakers, and regulators to enhance the sustainability and competitiveness of Shariah capital markets, particularly by improving diversification strategies and strengthening the regulatory framework
