Public participation is one of the main catalysts in decision-making activities and public policy development within Malaysian government agencies. The integration of digital methods in public participation, also known as digital participation, has been proposed as a means to increase the effectiveness of the public participation process. However, previous studies have highlighted persistent challenges in the implementation and adoption of digital participation, particularly at the local government level in Malaysia. Moreover, many Malaysian citizens remain unaware and lack sufficient exposure to digital participation in local governance. This study aims to identify the level of readiness, the relationship between readiness factors, and the influence of the socio-demographics moderating effect on the readiness factor to utilise digital participation among Malaysian citizens from the context of local government in Malaysia. A tailored research model, based on a modified Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), was developed to address the research questions. Using quantitative methods, data was collected through surveys employing convenience sampling. The participants of this study consisted of 484 Malaysian citizens. Data was analysed using IBM SPSS Statistics Version 27 software to calculate mean scores and Pearson’s correlation. SmartPLS 3 software was used to analyse socio-demographics moderation effects through the Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The findings revealed mixed readiness levels, ranging from medium to high among participants. Pearson’s correlation analysis confirmed significant relationships between readiness factors and the utilisation of digital participation. However, the socio-demographic moderation effects were found to be statistically insignificant across all tested relationships. This study identifies several key readiness factors that stakeholders in local government agencies in Malaysia can address to promote greater adoption of digital participation, fostering transparency and efficiency in decision-making at the local level. Additionally, the findings contribute valuable insights into current trends in the utilisation of digital participation and provide a foundation for advancing the public participation agenda within Malaysian local governance, making it more inclusive and effectiv

For years, mobile banking adoption behaviour has received much attention from academic scholars. Users are frequently sceptical of m-banking security due to an increasing trend of cyber-attacks. Also, there is a scarcity of research in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), particularly where security-related issues have been identified as one of the barriers that prevent bank customers from adopting m-banking. Thus, this study is conducted to investigate the factors of m-banking adoption intention. This study is extending the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) by developing a model that incorporates perceived security as moderator factor and trust as independent factor with other UTAUT factors to predict m-banking adoption intention in the UAE. The data was collected from 239 m-banking users in the UAE using a web survey technique and the Partial Least Square (PLS) method to validate the research model and test the hypotheses. The study used non-probability sampling because the researcher could not establish the sampling frame due to privacy issues, as banks cannot disclose the data of their customers who are using mobile banking. The non-probability sampling technique used here is convenience sampling due to its simplicity, low cost, and availability. The results showed that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, trust, and perceived security positively influenced m-banking adoption intention. Additionally, perceived security was found to be positively moderating these relationships. However, the results showed insignificant statistical support explaining the relationship between social influence and users’ intention to adopt m-banking. In conclusion, this study theoretically contributed to the body of knowledge by identifying the significant factors that influence m-banking adoption intention in the UAE. Additionally, this study demonstrated that perceived security is an important moderating variable and trust, as an independent factor, is also one of the important factors influencing users’ intention to adopt m-banking. Practically, this study contributed by suggesting mechanisms and strategies that will help banks promote the adoption of m-banking

The banking sector plays a crucial role in economic stability by serving as the primary intermediary for savings and investments. This study examines the impact of financial performance on bank stock prices in Malaysia from 2010 to 2023. Key financial indicators analyzed include Non Performing Loans (NPL), Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), Return on Assets (ROA), and Net Profit Margin (NPM). This study adopts a quantitative approach, utilizing multiple regression analysis to determine the relationship between financial performance and stock price movements. Secondary data were collected from the annual reports and financial statements of selected banks. The findings indicate that ROA has a significant positive effect on stock prices, while NPL and DER exhibit a negative relationship. These results suggest that highly profitable banks tend to gain investor confidence, whereas high credit risk may lead to declining stock prices. The findings of this study provide important implications for investors, financial analysts, and policymakers in formulating investment strategies and banking policies. This study also contributes to a deeper understanding of the factors influencing the stock market in Malaysia’s banking secto

Cybersecurity concerns particularly around cyber fraud have come under increased scrutiny, especially in the area of e-Services. Despite implementing enhanced security systems, eServices remain vulnerable, leading to billions of dollars in losses for the digital economy. While trust in networks and systems is essential, individuals must take proactive steps to learn and adopt protective behaviours to safeguard themselves. Therefore, this study focuses on developing a cyber fraud protection behaviour model using the Protection Motivation Theory (PMT). A total of 560 respondents were selected using the purposive sampling technique, which is widely employed in online research because there is no fixed list of respondents and the group keeps changing. The questionnaire link has been distributed on several popular social media platforms, such as Facebook, WhatsApp, and Telegram. The data were analysed using the partial least squares structural equation modelling technique (PLS-SEM). The finding revealed that perceived threat severity, subjective norm, response efficacy, cybersecurity efficacy skills, and cybersecurity efficacy knowledge significantly increases users’ intention to engage in protective behaviour. Additionally, antecedent factors, such as the perceived value of data, directly influence the perceived threat severity of e-Services users, while source credibility indicates contradictory results. Furthermore, this study identifies that wishful thinking among e-Services users significantly strengthens maladaptive rewards, which influence the intention of users to engage in protective behaviour. The original model was extended, and a comprehensive research framework was developed through this research. It also provides insights into various potential methods users can use to protect themselves from becoming victims of cyber fraud. Ultimately, this dissertation provides valuable insights for policymakers and practitioners in the field of cybersecurity, particularly in formulating strategies to enhance the protection of e-Services users against cyber fraud, thereby strengthening resilience on digital platforms and supporting sustainable economic growth in Malaysia’s digital econom

Technology acceptance theories and models have been widely developed, evolved, and applied to identify the factors influencing the acceptance of mobile applications in specific countries, subjects, and contexts. However, there have been few studies focusing on the acceptance of mobile applications in English language learning within the context of higher education in Malaysian universities. In the present study, the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) was used to investigate students’ behavioral intentions to accept mobile applications for English language learning. The study examined the relationship between performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, price, and habit, considering the educational context, gender, and educational level. The explanatory sequential strategy using mixed-methods research was employed in this study, where quantitative (questionnaire) data was collected first, followed by qualitative (interview) data. The quantitative data was gathered from 300 participants, while the qualitative data was obtained from ten participants. The quantitative data was analyzed using inferential and descriptive statistics, while the qualitative data was analyzed using thematic analysis. The results indicate that the UTAUT model was an effective model for predicting the use of mobile applications as English language learning tools. Gender was found to be a strong moderator, followed by the context, which was also a significant moderator. In contrast, educational level was not a significant moderator in predicting behavioral intention to use mobile applications as English learning tools. Finally, both inter- and intra-context moderation were proven to be significant factors. The current study contributes to the body of knowledge on mobile applications as a tool for the acceptance of mobile applications in language classrooms among English language learners in Malaysian universities, based on the UTAUT model. The results provide a significant addition to the field of English language learning in the context of higher education in Malaysi

Mathematical problem solving skills are an important element in the 21st Century. This skill involves high-level thinking skills and encourages critical and creative thinking among pupils. However, studies show that the mastery of these skills is deteriorating, especially in primary schools, thus raising concerns about the effectiveness of Mathematics education in Malaysia. This study aims to investigate the influence of Mathematics anxiety and self-efficacy on mathematical problem-solving skills and evaluate the role of attitudes toward Mathematics as a mediator. This survey-based study adopts a fully quantitative approach. The sample consists of 450 primary school pupils in Kedah, which selected using multistage sampling techniques which were cluster sampling and simple random sampling. Four measurement tools were employed that are the Math Anxiety Questionnaire for Children, Mathematical Problem-Solving Scale, Self-Efficacy Scale, and Attitudes Towards Problem Solving Skills and Mathematical Problem-Solving test. Data analysis was performed using IBM Statistics version 27 and SmartPLS 4 software. Findings reveal that Mathematics anxiety, self-efficacy, and attitudes collectively contribute 87.8% to mathematical problem-solving skills. Attitudes toward Mathematics serve as a significant mediator between Mathematics anxiety and self-efficacy in influencing problem-solving skills, with partial mediation identified in the structural model. The Importance-Performance Map Analysis (IPMA) further confirms that attitudes should be prioritized to enhance mathematical problem-solving skills. This study suggests a holistic approach involving relevant curricula, teacher training, and intervention programs to cultivate positive pupils attitudes from the primary school level. In conclusion, Mathematics anxiety, self-efficacy, and attitudes are critical factors influencing students' mastery of mathematical problem-solving skills, with positive attitudes serving as the main strand. Collaboration among stakeholders is necessary to improve pupils' confidence, attitudes, and interest in Mathematics, thereby strengthening the nation's education quality

In China, cities such as Chongqing and Xi'an are rapidly gaining popularity through social media platforms, attracting widespread attention, discussion, and a large influx of tourists. This surge in city tourism is driven not only by government marketoriented strategies but also by the social media travel influencers (SMTIs). However, limited research explores the extent to which tourists’ visit intentions are influenced by perceived government market orientation (PGMO) and SMTIs. The objectives of this study, therefore, aim to examine the relationships between perceived government market orientation (PGMO), SMTIs’ attributes, and tourists’ visit intentions to Chongqing. In addition, the study also investigates the mediating role of trust between the SMTIs’ attributes and visit intention. The research focuses on Chinese domestic tourists who have never visited Chongqing but are SMTIs followers in social media. To explain these relationships, the study employs the Stimulus- Organism-Response (SOR) model and source credibility theory as the theoretical frameworks. Data are collected through a self-administered questionnaire, using purposive sampling targeting followers on two major social media platforms, Douyin and Sina Weibo. Structural equation modelling (SEM) is conducted on 409 valid responses using SPSS (version 27) and AMOS (version 26). The results indicated that all independent variables, including PGMO, SMTIs’ expertise, authenticity, and physical attractiveness, have positive relationship with tourists’ visit intentions. In terms of indirect relationships, the findings revealed that trust positively mediates the relationship between SMTIs’ authenticity, SMTIs’ expertise, and tourists' visit intentions. However, SMTIs’ physical attractiveness does not influence visit intentions through trust. This study enriches current research understanding by introducing a structural model that combines PGMO and SMTIs, with trust as a mediator to analyse tourists' visit intentions. Additionally, this research provides valuable insights for city governments and destination marketing organizations, helping them understand tourists’ perceptions of government market orientation, SMTIs, and trust. The study suggests prioritizing these elements to promote city tourism growth in the age of social medi
