Pembangunan aplikasi Smart al-Q dalam pembelajaran Hifz al-Quran bagi program Tahfiz Model Ulul Albab (TMUA) di sekolah menengah kebangsaan agama (SMKA) Zon Utara
The Tahfiz Model Ulul Albab (TMUA) programme under the Integrated Tahfiz Curriculum (KBT) requires enhancement in its technology-based learning components to ensure that Tahfiz education remains competitive and comparable with other national curricula. However, the development of technological support materials for Tahfiz education has not received sufficient attention. This study aims to develop a prototype of the Smart al-Q application as a technological support tool for Hifz al-Quran learning in TMUA secondary schools in the Northern Zone, in response to the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0) and contemporary educational needs. This study employed the Design and Development Research (DDR) methodology, which consists of three phases. The first phase involved a needs analysis using a mixed-method approach (quantitative and qualitative) to examine the necessity for developing the application. The second phase focused on the design and development of the application, utilizing the Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) based on the views and consensus of 15 experts. The third phase encompassed usability testing through quantitative methods to evaluate the effectiveness and practicality of the Smart al-Q application. The first phase revealed a high level of student interest in the Smart al-Q application (M = 4.53). In the second phase, Fuzzy Delphi analysis confirmed expert agreement on all constructs and items in the design and development process, with all threshold values (d) ≤ 0.2, indicating strong consensus. Defuzzification scores were used to identify the most critical items to ensure the prototype aligned with expert expectations. The third phase showed positive usability feedback, with mean scores exceeding 4.0. Inferential analysis using the Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis tests indicated no significant differences based on school location; however, a significant gender difference was found (U=764.50, p =0.040), with female students giving higher usability ratings. The Smart al-Q application integrates modern technology with the traditional talaqqi musyafahah approach, making it a viable tool for technologyenhanced learning in Hifz al-Quran education. Theoretically, this study supports the relevance of al-Qabisi’s educational philosophy and the VARK learning model in the context of contemporary technological applications. Practically, the application facilitates Quran memorization, enables progress monitoring, and promotes more effective integration of technology within the TMUA programme across SMKA schools
Pengaruh kecerdasan rohani terhadap kesejahteraan mental dalam kalangan guru pelatih Pendidikan Islam
Islamic Education Trainee Teachers are vital assets in the education system; however, they often face challenges that may affect their mental well-being. Despite the emphasis on mental well-being in education, research on the role of spiritual intelligence in supporting Islamic Education Trainee Teachers remains limited. Therefore, this study aims to examine and address the question: How does spiritual intelligence influence the mental well-being of trainee teachers? Additionally, this study explores the relationship between spiritual intelligence and mental well-being, with the hypothesis that a higher level of spiritual intelligence positively contributes to mental well-being. This study employs a Mixed Methods approach with a Sequential Explanatory Design to gain a deeper understanding. Quantitative data from 108 participants were analyzed using SPSS version 30, complemented by qualitative insights from semi-structured interviews with five participants, analyzed using ATLAS.ti version 24. Findings indicate that the levels of spiritual intelligence and mental well-being among Islamic Education Trainee Teachers are high. A t-test analysis found no significant gender differences, suggesting that spiritual intelligence has a similar effect on mental well-being for both genders. Furthermore, Pearson correlation analysis revealed a positive relationship between spiritual intelligence and mental well-being, indicating that individuals with higher spiritual intelligence tend to have better mental well-being. Multiple regression analysis further showed that the components of spiritual intelligence siddiq, amanah, tabligh, and fathonah significantly influence mental well-being. Finally, thematic analysis identified four key factors influencing spiritual intelligence and mental well-being: self, relationship with Allah, relationship with others, and worship. This study contributes to the theoretical understanding of the role of spiritual intelligence in education and provides practical insights for universities to develop targeted interventions and support systems for trainee teachers
Identifying schematic, conversational and procedural representations of problem-solving language in debating discourse by a learner corpus analysis
Problem-solving communication is a crucial competency for university graduates. However, its relationship with debate participation has not been thoroughly examined. This study addresses the existing gap by examining parliamentary debate, a dynamic and increasingly popular impromptu format, to investigate its role in fostering problem-solving language. Using a corpus-based approach, the research analyzes the schematic, conversational, and procedural dimensions of problemsolving language as expressed in parliamentary debate discourse. A learner corpus comprising 751,328 tokens was compiled from 64 transcribed parliamentary debates sourced from the World Universities Debating Championships on YouTube. AntConc software was used to analyze key schematic features, including type token ratio, collocations, standardised frequencies, and concordance lines. The analysis revealed a strong presence of problem-solving language in the debating learner corpus, marked by a high type-token ratio and frequent use of keywords such as problem, need, issue, solution, solve, and fault(s) or drawback(s). These items showed notably high standardised frequencies, and concordance analysis indicated varied rhetorical functions within debate discourse. Genre analysis further identified structured problem-solving sequences typically following the stages of Situation, Problem, Response or Solution, and Evaluation. These rhetorical patterns highlight the conversational and interactive nature of parliamentary debate, which involves diverse argumentative roles such as propositions, oppositions, and Points of Information (POIs). The study provides corpus-based evidence of how problemsolving language is functionally deployed in debate, offering insights into the linguistic dynamics of argumentative communication and practical implications for education and debate training. The findings provide educators with genre prototypes for curriculum design, support corpus-driven analysis of argumentation, and assist debate participants in refining persuasive strategies for constructing effective problem-solving arguments. Ultimately, the study enhances the efficacy and engagement of parliamentary debate as a platform for developing critical communication competencies
The role of seaport infrastructure in enhancing logistics performance and economic growth in Nigeria’s manufacturing sector.
This study emphasizes the importance of seaport infrastructure in enhancing logistics performance and driving economic growth within Nigeria’s manufacturing sector. While improved port facilities are recognized as crucial, a research gap exists regarding the specific impacts of current seaport infrastructure on logistics efficiency and economic outcomes in Nigeria. This research investigates how seaport infrastructure influences logistics performance and economic growth in the Nigeria’s manufacturing sector. To achieve this objective, a methodology employing a triangulation research approach was used, combining quantitative and qualitative methods. It involves analyzing cross-sectional panel data from 71 manufacturing firms listed on the Nigeria Exchange Group, with 11 firms purposively selected based on their consistent operations from 2012 to 2022. The study utilized E-Views version 12.0 for data analysis. Key findings reveal a significant positive relationship between logistics performance and economic growth, indicating that better logistics efficiency boosts economic output. Additionally, the study highlights that inadequate seaport infrastructure hinders logistics efficiency and significantly affects the relationship between logistics performance and economic growth. The recommendations stress the need for the Nigerian government to prioritize investments in port facilities, including necessary upgrades, improved transport connectivity, and the adoption of modern technologies. Furthermore, the study encourages manufacturers to collaborate with logistics providers to optimize their supply chain operations. It contributes valuable empirical evidence on the pivotal role of seaport infrastructure in facilitating trade and economic activities, underscoring the importance of strategic investments to strengthen Nigeria’s manufacturing sector. These findings provide a foundation for policymakers and industry stakeholders to enhance logistics efficiency and drive sustainable economic growth in Nigeria
Education supply chain management: satisfaction among UUM students in MOOCS courses
The adoption of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) has significantly transformed the education landscape by providing scalable, flexible, and cost-effective learning opportunities. This study examines the role of Education Supply Chain Management (ESCM) in optimizing MOOCs for higher education institutions, with a particular focus on Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). By integrating the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the research explores the influence of Perceived Usefulness (PU), Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU), Perceived Enjoyment (PE), and Behavioral Intention (BI) on students’ engagement with MOOCs. Additionally, A quantitative research approach was employed, using structured questionnaires to collect primary data from UUM students actively engaged with MOOCs. The sample size was determined using Krejcie and Morgan’s (1970) table, with a total of 370 respondents selected through a systematic sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), applying descriptive and inferential statistical methods to assess the relationships among the study variables. Findings reveal that PU, PEOU, and PE significantly impact BI, highlighting the importance of user-friendly platforms and engaging course content in fostering learner retention. Furthermore, the study identifies key challenges in MOOC implementation, including high dropout rates, limited learner motivation, and content variability. By integrating ESCM principles, institutions can enhance resource allocation, optimize course design, and improve overall learning outcomes. The relationship between supplier assesment, collaborative goal setting and performance monitoring on Malaysian Automotive Manufacturing Performance
The Malaysian automotive industry plays a critical role in national economic development, yet faces persistent challenges in quality, efficiency, and global competitiveness. Supplier Development Programs (SDPs) have emerged as strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the capabilities and performance of suppliers to support manufacturing excellence. This study investigates the impact of three key SDP components which are supplier assessment, collaborative goal setting, and performance monitoring on automotive manufacturing performance in the Malaysian automotive sector. Utilizing a quantitative research approach, data were collected through structured questionnaires from industry professionals involved in SDPs across automotive manufacturing firms. The findings reveal positive relationships between each SDP component and automotive manufacturing performance indicators, including quality, cost efficiency, and lead time. The study emphasizes the importance of aligning supplier development strategies with operational goals to foster sustainable improvement and competitive advantage. These insights contribute to both academic literature and practical applications, guiding manufacturers and policymakers in optimizing supplier engagement for enhanced manufacturing outcome
The relationship between employee motivation, training program, work stress, emotional intelligence and lecturers' well-being at Kolej Mara, Malaysia
This study examines how employee motivation, training programs, and work stress influence the well-being of lecturers at Kolej MARA, and how emotional intelligence functions as a mediator, based on the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model and Diener’s Subjective Well- Being theory. This study employed a quantitative approach using a cross-sectional research design. A total of 103 lecturers from Kolej MARA in Malaysia answered online questionnaires. Data was analysed using SPSS software and the PROCESS Macro to identify relationships and mediation effects among variables. The findings indicate that motivation and training programs have a positive impact on lecturers’ well-being, while work stress has a significant adverse effect. Emotional intelligence was found to mediate the relationships between these variables, highlighting its crucial role in enhancing resilience and emotional regulation in the workplace. This study not only contributes to theoretical understanding but also provides practical implications for human resource practices in higher education institutions. It recommends incorporating emotional intelligence development into training programs and well-being initiatives to strengthen lecturers’ well-being, thereby making the findings directly applicable to HR professionals and researchers in the field
The influence of employee resilience, work autonomy and perceived organizational support on work-life balance among younger generation employees of technology-based service provider companies
In Malaysia's fast-changing digital economy, younger employees, especially those from Generations Y and Z, face increasing difficulties in keeping a healthy work-life balance. This study examines the impact of three key factors: employee resilience, work autonomy, and perceived organizational support, on the work-life balance of young workers in tech-based service provider companies. Using Social Exchange Theory, this research examines how individual, job-related, and organization-level resources together influence younger workers' ability to handle their professional and personal duties. A quantitative research design was used, with an online questionnaire sent to 116 employees aged 18 to 40 from two Malaysian tech firms. The study measured employee resilience, work autonomy, perceived organizational support, and work-life balance using validated tools. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression were employed to analyse the data. The results showed that all three factors, employee resilience, work autonomy, and perceived organizational support, significantly relate positively to work-life balance. Among them, perceived organizational support was the strongest predictor, followed by work autonomy and employee resilience. The findings highlight the crucial role of supportive organizational environments in improving work-life balance for young employees. While resilience helps, factors like autonomy and perceived support have a greater impact. This study contributes to the growing body of research on employee well-being, providing practical suggestions for human resources aimed at enhancing retention and mitigating burnout in demanding, tech-focused industries. It also suggests future research should explore these dynamics in wider contexts and over longer periods
Analysing role of technology system, storage design and material handling to improve warehouse operation accuracy
Warehouse operation inaccuracy remains a critical issue in manufacturing companies, often resulting in operational inefficiencies, production delays, and increased costs. This research analyses the extent to which technology system, storage design, and material handling influences inventory accuracy in manufacturing warehouses, with a specific focus on facilities located in Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Malaysia. This research contributes positively to the manufacturing industry by significantly improve inventory accuracy. Enhanced accuracy leads to greater operational efficiency, cost savings, and more informed decision-making. The findings also support Industry 4.0 adoption by demonstrating the value of digital systems like RFID and WMS. Furthermore, the study provides practical insights for benchmarking, policy development, and workforce training, ultimately helping manufacturers optimize their warehouse operations and remain competitive. A total of 40 manufacturing companies operating within Kulim Hi-Tech Park were identified as the sampling frame for this study. Based on the Krejcie and Morgan (1970) table, the planned sample size was determined to be 36 respondents, representing personnel involved in warehouse and inventory operations across these companies. A quantitative research approach was employed, utilizing structured questionnaires distributed to supply chain professionals and warehouse personnel within selected manufacturing companies. The study applied descriptive statistics to evaluate relationships among key variables. The findings reveal that the implementation of system applications such as RFID, barcode systems, and WMS significantly enhances inventory visibility and tracking. Additionally, optimized storage design characterized by layout planning, slotting strategies, and accessibility contributes positively to inventory accuracy. Furthermore, effective material handling, including automation, and standardized operating procedures, are also associated with reduced inventory errors. The implications extend to industry practitioners aiming to improve operational efficiency and to policymakers advocating for Industry 4.0 readiness in manufacturing logistics. Future research should explore longitudinal data and include qualitative insights to enrich the understanding of human and organizational factors
The challenges in managing the construction of an oil and gas platform: A case of Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn. Bhd.
The construction of offshore oil and gas platforms presents substantial project management and engineering challenges, particularly in emerging markets such as Malaysia, where Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn. Bhd. (MMHE) serves as a leading EPCIC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Commissioning) contractor. This single-case study aims to explore and analyze the critical challenges MMHE faces in managing large-scale platform construction, focusing on technical complexity, financial constraints, supply chain disruptions, regulatory compliance, and human capital management. Methodologically, the study synthesizes corporate project data, including the experience of building Asia’s first deepwater truss spar at MMHE Pasir Gudang yard, Johor Malaysia, which entailed intensive technology transfer through collaboration with Technip and infrastructure upgrades such as skidding tracks and covered workshops alongside industry coverage of escalating competition compressing margins and accelerating timelines, as well as yard optimization efforts; relevant literature on workforce safety and engineering skills; and evidence of digital transformation initiatives, including AI-driven networking across its 500-acre yard to support predictive maintenance and digital workflows. Thematic coding identifies four interlinked challenge domains: (1) technical demands, including advanced fabrication techniques, continuous technology transfer, and infrastructure upgrades; (2) financial risks arising from cost overruns, volatile material pricing, and inflexible lump-sum EPCIC contract models; (3) supply-chain and logistical volatility exacerbating delivery pressures; and (4) regulatory and human capital constraints, including stringent HSE compliance and chronic shortages of skilled technical labor. The study emphasizes the necessity of deploying strategic management practices such as agile project governance, modular construction approaches, digital innovation, and proactive risk management frameworks to mitigate these challenges. Implementing these recommendations can enhance MMHE operational resilience, improve project delivery outcomes, and reinforce its competitiveness in the global offshore construction sector
