The determinants of the Islamic learning organization and the moderating effect of perceived organizational support
Private Higher Educational Institutions play a vital role in Malaysia’s economic growth and are a key contributor to the nation’s GDP. The survival of Islamic Private Higher Education Institutions (IPHEIs) in the highly competitive market of higher education within the country and in the region depends on the ability of those IPHEIs to learn and adapt to the rapid changes. Learning Organization can help IPHEIs survive and excel. This study intends to investigate the determinants of Islamic learning organization as it is a new concept derived from the conventional learning organization. Hence, the study is aimed at investigating the relationship between leadership style, employee innovative behaviour, Islamic work ethics, and the Islamic learning organization in Islamic private higher educational institutions in Malaysia. Additionally, the study was to examine the moderating effect of perceived organizational support on the relationship between those determinants and the Islamic learning organization. The underpinning theory is social learning theory. Data were collected from the Islamic private higher educational institutions in the Malaysian peninsula using a cross-sectional study design through questionnaires. However, only 156 questionnaires were valid for analysis. This study utilized the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling to establish the validity and reliability of the measurement model and to test each hypothesis. The results of this study showed that leadership style, employee innovative behaviour, and Islamic work ethics have significant influence on the Islamic learning organization. Additionally, perceived organizational support moderates the relationship between leadership style, employee innovative behaviour, and the Islamic learning organization. This study proposes valuable insights to Islamic Higher Educational Institution managers, stakeholders, and those who are accountable in leading Islamic PHEIs to excel in the higher educational arena. This study also offers theoretical, practical and methodological implications for the academics. Lastly, limitations and recommendations for future studies are also highlighted
Towards post-displacement durable solutions for internally displaced women (IDW) in Nigeria: a study of the challenges and needs of IDW in three selected IDPs camps
This study examines the challenges, needs, and durable solutions for Internally Displaced Women (IDW) in three selected IDPs camps in Nigeria. It evaluates the condition of the IDW in those camps, including prerequisites and challenges in achieving a durable solution through an integration approach in Nigeria. Human
security concept, empowerment, and social inclusion theories constitute the analytical tools used in this study to effectively explain the needs and challenges confronting IDW in attaining the solution. This study employed qualitative research which involved multiple data collection methods, including narrative interviews,
focus group discussions, and semi-structured interviews. Secondary data are also utilized in this study such as conference papers, journal articles, textbooks, book chapters, newspapers, and archival sources. Research findings show that the IDW
facing numerous challenges such as inadequate economic opportunity, financial capability, social network and targeted support. There are also hindrances in expediting their integration in Nigeria, including high unemployment, financial constraints, the poor state of infrastructure, uncertainty at home, lack of adequate
assistance to return, and ineffective integration policy of IDW in Nigeria. Therefore, the study shows that a framework that truly reflects the needs, challenges, and integration of the displaced women in Nigeria is important and needed to achieve a lasting solution to the IDW. The study identified some factors in achieving lasting solutions which are a social network, socio-economic status, ethnic similarities/differences, and gender framework. This study also examined the legal frameworks available to protect IDW in Nigeria and discovered that there is no independent framework that specifically addresses them. Generally, the study has contributed
to the body of knowledge on IDPs in Nigeria, particularly the integration of IDW in that country, which is rarely addressed. It has also elaborated the legal, social-economic and institutional frameworks available to protect IDW and how the lack of a proper framework affects the IDW to achieve durable solution
The export performance of Indonesian SMEs: the effects of entrepreneurial orientation and strategic capability in a dynamic environment
This research is based on the dynamic capability view,
resource-based view, internationalization theory, and international entrepreneurship theory, with the primary objective of determining the factors affecting Indonesian SMEs' export performance. It examines the combined capabilities of entrepreneurial orientation and strategic capability. Entrepreneurial orientation encompasses innovativeness, risktaking, pro-activeness, and competitive aggressiveness. Meanwhile, strategic capability contains technological capacity, cultural competence, network competence,
and market knowledge capability. Environmental dynamism is included in this study to examine its influence as a moderating factor in the relationship between SMEs' capabilities and their export performance. This study develops and examines sixteen
hypotheses. Primary data were collected using postal questionnaires obtained from 174 top management executives of SMEs in three regions of Indonesia (Java, Sumatera, and Bali and the Nusa Tenggara Timur). The data were analysed using PLS-SEM 3.0. Generally, the research findings reveal that only innovativeness, risk-taking, technological capacity, network competency, and market knowledge capability are found to be directly significant in influencing the Indonesian SMEs' export
performance. However, pro-activeness, competitive aggressiveness and cultural competence are shown to have no significant effect on the export performance of Indonesian SMEs. When environmental dynamism was added as a moderator, the effects of entrepreneurial orientation and strategic capabilities on Indonesian SMEs' export performance remained unchanged. Relevantly, the most critical factors affecting export performance are technological capacity and market knowledge capability. This study enhances novel knowledge in the existing body of knowledge and practice of the impacts of entrepreneurial orientation and strategic capability on export performance. Given the critical nature of technological capacity and market knowledge capability for strategic management as a decision-making mechanism for improving Indonesian SMEs' export performance, it is critical that managers, as well as other hierarchical elements in the company, assist and facilitate the necessary conditions and needs to improve SMEs export performance. The findings of this research may also assist the Indonesian government and relevant policymakers in providing essential advice and resources, which could positively contribute to the country's SMEs' export performance
