The development of the National Defence Policy (NDP) of Malaysia has been developed since 1957 which also involves the development of service branches of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) namely the Army, Royal Malaysian Navy and Royal Malaysian Air Force. The development of the NDP also involves the implementation of the Total Defense Concept (HANRUH) which places the MAF as the first line of defense in defending national security and defense and assisted by volunteer forces as the second line and other agencies as well as the public as the third line of HANRUH. However, the implementation of HANRUH raises questions about the capabilities of the MAF at this time which is plagued with various problems. Thus, this study examines the problems and challenges faced by MAFs in the concept of HANRUH. This study has the objective to identify the implementation of HANRUH in Malaysia, analyze the problems faced by the MAF and the impact on national security and defense. This study uses qualitative methods to conduct research especially related to aspects of defense and security. This study found that the implementation of HANRUH in Malaysia began in 1970 with the implementation of Security dan Development (KESBAN) and developed as HANRUH in 1986 which placed the MAF as the first line of defense. This study found that the capabilities of MAFs are facing problems such as, poor NDP posture policy, vague defense concept, logistical aspects of MAF services that are problematic, obsolete and old. Even the MAF logistics of all service branches were involved in various accidents. The case of the invasion of the Military Camp in Gerik Perak in July 2000 by some militants, the terrorist invasion of Lahad Datu, Sabah in February 2013, the murdered of the son of a former North Korean President; Kim Jong Nam at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and various maritime intrusion cases show that MAF failure. It indirectly indicates the failure of the implementation of HANRUH practiced by the government

Accidents in university laboratories are a global issue. Therefore, university laboratory safety management must emphasise safety ethics and safe laboratory behaviour to promote a more comprehensive laboratory safety culture. This study aims to investigate the direct effect of safety leadership on laboratory safety behaviour among university students based on the S-O(BAMP)-R model. Besides, safety knowledge, safety commitment, and safety motivation are also examined as mediating effects. Meanwhile, personality trait is scrutinised as a moderating effect. The study is based on a survey engaging 361 students studying chemical or chemistry-based engineering programs at five public universities in Malaysia. The data were analysed using IBM SPSS Statistics and SEM SmartPLS 3.3.2. The findings disclosed that safety leadership could construe a positive significant direct effect on the laboratories’ safety behaviour. Therefore, the management of the universities should emphasise the essence of high-quality safety leadership among the lecturers. This study also demonstrated that safety knowledge and safety commitment could mediate safety leadership and safety behaviour in the laboratory. Conversely, the mediating effect of safety motivation and the personality traits’ moderating effect failed to designate a significant impact. In this study, the mediating result of safety commitment is the most contributing factor relative to safety behaviour, and attention should be paid to maintaining laboratory safety at the universities. Besides, studies on the influence of safety leadership and safety behaviour in the laboratory should also be explored in other educational organisations such as private higher education institutions (IPTS), teacher education institutes (IPG), and community colleges. This study, finally, discusses the theoretical and practical implications of the S-O(BA)-R model derived from the original S-O(BAMP)-R model and future research suggestions

The objective of this study was to identify the influence of monitoring and transformational leadership on authentic leadership among Administrators in the public universities in Malaysia. This study also aimed to identify the significance of the locus of control as a mediator in the relationship between monitoring, transformational leadership and authentic leadership. For the purposes of data analysis and hypothesis testing, several statistical methods such as multiple regression analysis were used to understand the dimensionality of the variables. The findings of this study showed that, via factor analysis testing, monitoring is represented by 3 dimensions, namely periodic monitoring, informal discussion and observation. Transformational leadership is represented by individualized consideration, idealized influence, individual intellectual considerations, charismatic leaders and intellectual stimulation. Locus of control is only represented by internal control, while authentic leadership is represented by 2 dimensions, namely moral transparency and self-awareness. The effect of monitoring on authentic leadership was tested by using the multiple regression analysis. It is found that periodic monitoring influences significantly both moral transparency and self-awareness. Informal discussion and observation only influence self-awareness. Unfortunately, informal discussion influences self-awareness negatively. The dependant variable, which is moral transparency, is directly influenced by frequent monitoring, individual consideration, enhancing ideal influence and individual intellectual consideration. Hierarchical multiple regression was performed to test the influence of the mediating variable, which is locus of control. It is hoped that this study may increase their leadership skills, accountability, integrity, and efficiency in good governance among Administrators in public universities. Lastly, theoretical and practical implications, limitations and recommendations for future research are also highlighted in this study

The objective of this study is to examine the effect of strategic capability, entrepreneurial orientation and servant leadership on the success of visually impaired leaders in Malaysia. Additionally, this study also examined the moderating effect of assistive technology on the relationship between strategic capability, entrepreneurial orientation, servant leadership and success of visually impaired leaders. A theoretical framework was developed based on existing literature. The data was collected through an online survey by sending a link of questionnaires via WhatsApp to all visually impaired leaders in Malaysia. This study used a census survey to gather data. Partial Least Squares (PLS) algorithm and bootstrap techniques were used to test the study's hypotheses. The results provide support to few of the hypothesized relationships for the study. Specifically, strategic capability and entrepreneurial orientation significantly affect the success of visually impaired leaders while servant leadership is not affected. Furthermore, the result indicates that all three hypotheses are not significant due to low statistical power and assistive technology, besides moderation being quite new in leadership studies. Therefore, the significant effect of strategic capability and entrepreneurial orientation on the success of visually impaired leaders suggest that the variables are important in relation to the success of a leader. Assistive technology statistically is not significant but the results of focus group discussions show it is very important and significantly affects their daily lives. The outcome of this study provides significant contributions to both leaders and researchers for further understanding of what factors affect the success of a visually impaired leader in an organization. Hence, a leader should be encouraged to apply strategic capability and act like an entrepreneur to be a success leader. Contributions, limitations, implications and necessary suggestions for new areas of research are recommended and discussed in this research
