Hubungan Kedah-Siam: Sejarah tiga peperangan & implikasi kedaulatan Kesultanan Kedah, 1800-1909
This study discussed the history of the Kedah-Siam relations with the focus on the three wars between the two powers as well as the implications on the sovereignty of the Kedah Sultanate between 1800 and 1909. This study began with the early history of the diplomatic relations between the small state of Kedah and the great power of Siam. The objective of this study was to: identify the status of the relationship between the Kedah Sultanate and the Siamese government before 1821; examine the factors influencing the Kedah-Siam war in the period 1800 to 1839; detail the implications of the first, second and third Kedah-Siam war on the sovereignty of the Kedah Sultanate, and assess the role of the British in the Kedah-Siam relations over the sovereignty of the Kedah Sultanate. This study was a diplomatic history study that used qualitative methods with a descriptive analytical approach. Reference materials and information were obtained through a literature review based on the use of primary and secondary sources. Among the primary sources referenced were the official British government records in the British National Archives and the British Library in London. Records and manuscripts were also referenced in the National Archives of Malaysia and the National Archives of Malaysia Kedah/Perlis Branch as well as documents obtained from the National Archives of Singapore in Singapore, and the National Library of Thailand in Bangkok. Secondary sources consisted of books, papers, journals and newspapers. To fill the research gap, interviews were conducted with local historical figures. The findings of this study show that the Kedah-Siam relationship was based on the perspectives of their respective national interests. The status of the Kedah-Siam relations changed completely from patronage to colony as soon as Kedah was defeated on 12 November 1821. However, the Sultan of Kedah returned to the throne with the royal pardon of Rama III in 1842. The fact is that the survival of the Kedah Sultanate in the face of Siam depended entirely on the diplomatic approach of the sultan and his officials, especially in the face of the war conflict with Siam, including establishing relations with the British to maintain the sovereignty of the Kedah Sultanate. This study also proves that Kedah's pragmatic approach of cooperating with the British through the surrender of Penang enabled the continuity of the sovereignty of the Kedah Sultanate to be preserved until now. The main contribution of this study is the documentation of the Kedah, Siam and British relations during the period 1800-1909 using primary sources from local, British, Singapore and Thailand archives
The contextual factors affecting the safety performance of employees at Mattel Penang
The safety of employees at the workplace is a major concern in the toy manufacturing industry in Malaysia. This is due to an increase in the number of work-related injuries, which is a source of significant economic and social burden in developing countries. The aim of this research is to examine the perception of employees between management practices and safety performance at Mattel Penang. This research uses six management practices: management's commitment to safety, safety training, worker’s involvement, safety communication, safety rules and procedures, and safety promotion policy as independent variables to explain the relationship to safety performance in Mattel Penang. A total of 500 questionnaires were distributed, of which only 432 were used to draw the conclusions for this research. The results of this research show that there is a positive and significant relationship between management's commitment to safety, safety training and safety promotion policy towards safety performance in Mattel Penang. On the other hand, employee participation, safety communication and safety rules and procedures do not influence the safety performance in the company. Since changes are ongoing in a toy manufacturing industry, static approaches, such as rules and procedures, do not affect the way people interact within and across department lines. It is therefore an indicator of the organization's ability to prevent failure. Organizations must have a convincing view of employee competence and learn to be more agile to adapt to change. Although these results are not consistent with previous cross-validation research, it is questionable whether previous research focused on validation in SME’s and other offshore industries. This research also shows that employee motivational factors must be taken into account in the development of safety performance in the toy manufacturing industry

Predictors of employee engagement in UDA Holdings Berhad
Highly engaged employees are important in an organization to ensure that what organization has invested gets return via organizations performance and good returns. Lack of understanding towards the factors and influence of employee engagement can cause employers not able to initiate activities and appropriate action to improve the level of ‘engagement’ among employees. Employees would be highly engaged if they believe that their contribution contributes to organizational goals, that their
organization values their work, that their employer believes in their abilities, and, most importantly, that their aspirations for growth, career path, rewards, and benefits are met. Lack of awareness of the elements of employee engagement in an organization can lead
to employers and human resources departments failing to take appropriate measures to enhance employee motivation and performance while meeting organizational objectives. The purpose of this study is to examine and gain a better understanding of the
relationship between job engagement, job satisfaction and organizational commitment in UDA Holdings Berhad. This questionnaire of this study with dual language (English and Malay) is distributed online (google form) and a total of 131 employees of UDA Holdings Berhad. In addition, this study also tried to examine the influence of all three predictors which are; organizational commitment, work-life balance and job satisfaction on employee engagement. Findings from the study are significant to organizations with specific and valid factors influencing employee engagement. This study also identifies areas that need improvement and strategies for interventions to ensure UDA Holdings Berhad employees are well engaged. Aside from that, the
findings of this study may directs to the new policies and the streamlining of existing policies, as well as more engagement activities that may enhance the value of investment (VOI) rather than just return of investment (ROI), as long as it continues to

A study on the relationship between macroeconomic factors and number of IPOs in Malaysia
This study studies the relationship between the stock market index and exchange rate on the number of IPOs in Malaysia from year 2000 to 2016. This study examines the relationship by performing cointegration regression and Vector Error Correction Model to study the short and long-run causal effects between stock market index, exchange rate and the number of IPOs. The findings of the data show that there exists a unidirectional long-run equilibrium causal relationship between the stock market index, exchange rate and number of IPOs in Malaysia where the exchange rate exhibits a negative relationship with the number of IPOs. This shows that higher returns in stock market returns lead to higher number of IPOs on the long run. This implies that business may prefer to list an IPO when stock market returns are high as this may enable the business to obtain higher valuations. Besides, the negative relationship between exchange rate and number of IPOs imply that business may refrain from listing when there is heightened volatility in the exchange rate. This result support the investor sentiment theory. However, in the short run the stock market index and the exchange rate does not have a significant relationship with the number of IPOs in Malaysia
