The effectiveness of game-based learning during teacher training in Sik
The typical approach has drawbacks and difficulties in providing and accomplishing training goals. Research on teacher professional development is scarce. This study compares the effectiveness of game-based learning during teacher training to the traditional approach and looks at how it impacts the teachers’ performance and engagement. It was anticipated that teachers would be more productive and engaged after using the game-based learning approach. Teachers from the Sik district make up the study's population. 23 headmasters and headmistresses make up the research sample. In order to conduct the experiment, a control group made up of 12 and 11 headmasters, respectively, was recruited using the homogenous purposive sampling technique. In contrast to the control group, which employed the traditional strategy, the experimental group was given treatment while using Kahoot! To evaluate the efficacy of the treatment, a mixed-method approach with a contemporaneous triangulation design was adopted. Using the quasi-experiment method for the quantitative analysis, the researchers first looked at the differences between the experimental group and the control group. With the help of a post-test instrument with 15 questions on the quality of Malaysian education, their performance was evaluated. Using SPSS, the results were T-tested for analysis. Second, to examine teachers' engagement throughout training, a semi-structured interview was conducted for the qualitative study with the first five responders in the name list from the experimental group interview instrument. The T-test results reveal that the experimental group's post-test score is significantly different from the control group's. As a result of employing the game-based learning methodology, the teachers in the experimental group perform much better on the post-test because they have a better understanding of the training's material. Excitation, enthusiasm, and interest were three motifs that emerged from the transcripts' MAXQDA analysis. This study offers pertinent information on the advantages of using game-based learning in training
The impact of internal and external factors on profit efficiency of islamic banks in Malaysia
The sustainability of the banking system depends on the profit efficiency of the banks. The profit efficiency of Islamic banks in Malaysia shows a fluctuating trend from the period of 2014 to 2018. This study aims to analyse the post Global Financing Crises (GFC) period and examines the impact of external and internal factors on the profit efficiency of Islamic banks in Malaysia covering the period of 2014 to 2018. In this study, profit efficiency was measured using net income (NI). The secondary data involved 320 observations on 16 Islamic banks in Malaysia. The external factors tested in this study were Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Inflation (INF), while the internal factors were Loan Loss Provision (LLP), Net Interest Margin (NIM) and Staff Efficiency (STAFFX). This study used panel data obtained from Fitch Connect database. The results of the study found that INF, LLP and STAFFX showed a significant negative effect while NIM showed a positive and significant effect on profit efficiency of Islamic banks in Malaysia. GDP was found to be insignificant towards profit efficiency. Findings from this study provides a better understanding of the impact of external and internal factors on the profit efficiency of Islamic banks that is useful for policy makers and banks management. This study is important as to determine the impact of these external and internal factors on banking system, in particular Islamic banks which possibly affects the banks performance and generally on the economic growth in Malaysia
Ancaman rasuah di Perlis: kesedaran awam & peranan SPRM
Corruption is seen as a worrying crime based on the report from Transparency International (TI) on the Corruption Performance Index (CPI). This crime raises some questions as to whether SPRM does not have an effective mechanism mentality of people who still do not care about these symptoms or the existing laws are not
heavy and underestimated by people. Corruption can be described as a phenomenon that increasingly needs to be studied in organisational leadership, where it can be seen in various forms and types. Currently, the crime of corruption has undermined
people’s trust in its political systems, institutions, and leadership. This study examines whether the level of awareness of the dangers of corruption influencing corrupt behaviour. This study uses qualitative method for implementation. The findings of the study show that most of the respondents involved in this study have a
good level of understanding, education, and perception of the problem/crime of corruption. Looking at the level of understanding is better than the level of perception about corruption. However, there are a handful of respondents who do not understand and do not know that the behaviour stated in the study is about the crime
of corruption. This is worrying and needs to be given more attention so that those corruption crimes do not continue to increase. The government needs to implement more approaches with people to enable the level of understanding to increase and the crime of corruption to decrease
The mediating effect of knowledge sharing between intrinsic motivation, high-performance work system, authentic leadership on employees' creativity in Pakistan territory education institutions
In recent management literature, employee creativity is considered to be an essential factor in achieving positive work outcomes and organizational effectiveness”. Most prior studies have explored the role of psychosocial factors in explaining employee creativity. However, in this stream of research, the role of individual and
organizational factors in enhancing employee creativity has gained little attention. This specific research intended to analyse the relationship between the authentic leadership, high-performance work systems and intrinsic motivation on the creativity of the
employees. In addition, this particular research also analysed the mediating impact of knowledge sharing between authentic leadership, high-performance work systems and intrinsic motivation on the creativity of the employees. Two crucial theories have been
investigated in this study namely self-determination theory as well as social exchange theory. In order to constitute the sample of the research, the researcher selected random sampling technique and selected 313 faculty members who were the full-time faculty
members at the Public Universities of Punjab, Pakistan. The researcher integrated a self-administrated questionnaire in order
to accomplish the aim and objectives of the study. The data collected through this research design was analysed by the means of PLS-SEM approach using Smart PLS 3.2.8. The outcomes of the research indicated that there is a position association between all the variables of the research and the creativity of the employees in the organization. The outcomes of the research also pointed out that there is a positive association among high performing work system, intrinsic motivation, and knowledge sharing. The knowledge sharing act as a partial mediator for the relationship between employee creativity, high-performing working systems
and at the same time authentic leadership. The outcomes of this research are valuable for the policy-making as well as regulators and it could facilitate them in escalating the level of
high-performance work system, authentic leadership and at the same time intrinsic motivation
Penggunaan aplikasi “simulasi stail berfikir dan menyelesaikan masalah” dalam kalangan pelajar program pendidikan
Thinking styles are skills used to solve problems. Therefore, thinking styles and problem-solving skills have to be instilled among the education programme students in preparing them for their work place. However, there is still no application that has been built based on case simulations to stimulate thinking styles and problem-solving among students of education programme. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the “Thinking Styles and Problem-Solving Simulation” application among the education programme students of Universiti Utara Malaysia. The ADDIE model was used to develop the application while the development of the case-based learning was based on Sternberg’s Mental Self-government and the 11 principles of Clyde Freeman Herreid theories. This study used the quasi-experimental pre-test post-test control group design and the explanatory sequential mixed-method design. The sample involved 70 education programme students who were selected through purposeful sampling and divided into the control group (n = 35) and the treatment group (n = 35). The instruments used in the pre-tests and the post-tests were the Thinking Style Inventory, the Problem Solving Inventory and the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire, expert’s and student’s evaluation questionnaires, activity checklists and interview protocols. The effectiveness of this interactive application was measured by comparing the pre-tests and post-tests scores of the treatment and control groups using the Multivariate Analysis of Covariance (MANCOVA) method. The results showed significant differences between the control and the treatment groups in thinking styles [F (13.43) = 4.90, p <.05], problem solving [F (3,63) = 3.96, p <.05] and self-regulated learning [F (5,59) = 9.0, p <.05]. The interview data revealed that this application was able to stimulate students’ thinking styles, problem-solving and self-regulation, via case-based learning. All students agreed that learning was enhanced by using the interactive application compared to the modular approach. The case-based learning application has successfully stimulated thinking styles, problem-solving skills and self-regulation among the education programme students

Antecedents of employee engagement with the mediation and moderation of occupational stress and social support: a study of Pakistan banks
Organizations globally are facing with the problem of low employee engagement whereby; dearth of empirical studies and literature gaps exist, on how it could be addressed particularly in an emerging economy such as Pakistan. Upon the explanation of Social Exchange Theory and Job Demand Resource Theory; studies have identified transformational leadership, psychological empowerment and motivation with the mediation and moderation of occupational stress and social support as the most promising
strategies for understanding employee engagement. The study objectives were to assess the relationship between transformational leadership, psychological empowerment and
motivation with the mediation and moderation of occupational stress and social support with employee engagement in the banking industry of Pakistan. The study followed the survey method for the collection of data from 384 front-line employees of the six large banks of Pakistan. The data was analyzed by using SPSS version 23 and PLS-SEM version 3. Results of the PLS path modelling found the significant direct relationships between
transformational leadership, psychological empowerment, and motivation with employee engagement. Meanwhile, the relationships between transformational leadership and motivation were significant and negative with occupational stress except psychological empowerment. The study found the significant mediation of occupational stress on the relationships between transformational leadership and motivation with employee
engagement. Alternatively, occupational stress does not mediate between psychological empowerment and employee engagement. Furthermore, the bootstrapping result has found significant moderation of social support between the relationship of occupational stress and employee engagement. The theoretical and practical implications of the study have assisted future scholars and policy makers, management heads and leaders, that employee
engagement can be enhanced through transformational leadership, psychological empowerment, and motivation whereas, occupational stress can potentially deplete it In addition, social support acts as a key role of buffering occupational stress, which consequently increases employee engagement in the banking sector of Pakistan
Impact of leader creativity expectations, creative self-efficacy and leader-member exchange on creative performance: A mediating role of intrinsic motivation
Creative performance of academicians is one of the major problems of higher education in the 21st century. The objective of this study is two-fold: a) to analyze the effects of leader creativity expectations, creative self-efficacy, and leader-member exchange on creative performance; and b) to investigate whether intrinsic motivation mediates the relationship between the three variables (i.e. leader creativity expectations, creative self-efficacy and leader-member exchange), and creative performance. Using simple random sampling technique, 281 valid responses are drawn on a survey questionnaire from the full-time academicians of 24 private universities of Karachi, Pakistan. Hypotheses are tested using partial least square structural equation modeling technique. The results show that: a) leader creativity expectations do not have significant effect on creative performance; b) both creative self-efficacy and leader-member exchange have significant effects on creative performance; c) on contrary to expectations, leader creativity expectations and leader-member exchange have significant but negative effects on intrinsic motivation; d) creative self-efficacy has significant positive effect on intrinsic motivation with moderate effect size; e) intrinsic motivation shows a significant effect on creative performance with the highest effect size; and f) intrinsic motivation significantly mediates the relationship between three variables (i.e. leader creativity expectations, creative self-efficacy and leader-member exchange), and creative performance. The findings suggest that the management of private universities should be careful in raising their creativity expectations and quality of leader-member exchange relationship because these contextual factors may reduce the intrinsic motivation of academicians for their creative performanc
Relationship between dimensions of job satisfaction and organizational commitment among administrative staffs of higher education institutions in Selangor
Administrative staff play a significant role in ensuring higher educational institutions (HEIs) to achieve their strategic objectives. They implement supportive and administrative services to overall operation of the institutions. Although their significant contribution is acknowledged, research on administrative staff in HEI context particularly in Selangor is still minimal. This study aims to explore the factors that may be relevant to organizational commitment of HEI administrative staffs in Selangor. Specifically, this research attempts to study the relationship between the dimensions or elements of job satisfaction (pay & compensation, interpersonal trust and recognition) and organizational commitment. Quantitative method was used
whereby questionnaires were provided to participants drawn from both public and private HEIs. Data acquired was examined using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software. Inferential analyses specifically regression and correlation were used to examine the relationship between job satisfaction’s dimensions and
organizational commitment. The findings of this study showed that all dimensions of job satisfaction namely pay & compensation, interpersonal trust and recognition had positive significant relationship with organizational commitment. Out of three dimensions of job satisfaction, interpersonal trust was the most important factor contributing to organizational commitment. The results derived from this study suggest that interpersonal trust, pay & compensation and recognition should be given attention if the management of these educational institutions were to increase the commitment of their administrative staff. This study was carried out on a few educational institutions using convenience sampling technique, therefore the results cannot be generalized to other educational institutions or other organizations in different sectors. Future research is hope to extend the current scope of the research to include more educational institutions throughout the country and utilize a different sampling technique to confirm on these findings
Moderating effect of trust on the relationship between safety management practices and safety performance in Pakistani construction industry
In recent times, there has been an increasing trend in construction industry regarding safety management practices and safety performance. Therefore, the construction industry need to focus on safety management practices to achieve better safety performance. The current study explicitly aims to investigate the moderating role of trust on the relationship between safety management practices (management commitment, safety training, workers involvement, safety communication & feedback, safety rules & procedures and safety promotion policies) and safety performance (safety compliance & safety participation). The study was established on Social Exchange Theory to fill the gap between safety management practices, trust and safety performance. A total of 346 workers from Pakistani construction industry were participated in this research. Data was analyzed by using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The result found that safety training, workers involvement, safety communication and feedback and safety promotion polices have direct impact on safety compliance. In addition, the findings revealed that management commitment, safety training, workers involvement, safety rules and procedures and safety promotion polices directly impacted safety participation. Moreover, trust moderated the relationship between management commitment and safety compliance, safety training and safety compliance and safety promotion policies and safety compliance. Additionally, trust also moderated the relationship between safety training and safety participation and safety promotion policies and safety participation. Therefore, it can be decided that construction industry need to focus on safety management practices and contemplate worker’s trust in order to enhance safety performance. Finally, research implications (theoretical & practical), research limitations and suggestions for future research are presented
