Determinants of customers’ intention to adopt green banking technology services within Islamic banks of the United Arab Emirates
Green Banking (GB) is encouraging environment-friendly practices and reducing the carbon footprint from banking operations by promoting paperless financial services based on the intensive use of technology. However, the adoption level of GB technology remains unsatisfactory among bank customers in the United Arab Emirates. This study explored the dimensions of individual, technological, organisational, environmental and religious determinants of the phenomenon. The study further extended the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) by examining the identified dimensions’ effect on customers’ intention to adopt GB technology, alongside the moderating role of gender, age and experience. The exploratory sequential mixed-method design was deployed in this study. A preliminary semi-structured interview was conducted among ten bank professionals to explore the dimensions of the predetermined determinants. The qualitative findings using the Thematic Content Analysis (TCA) revealed the related dimensions affecting customers’ adoption of GB technology. The developed research model was validated via a cross-sectional survey of 332 Islamic bank customers. The quantitative results using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) confirmed the significant impact of performance expectancy, facilitating condition, customer awareness, personal innovativeness, perceived benefit, system quality and bank reputation on customers’ intention to adopt GB technology. The moderating results using Multi-Group Analysis (MGA) revealed that only gender affects the relationship between performance expectancy and customers’ intention to adopt GB technology. This study has significant theoretical, methodological and practical contributions to enhance the understanding of customers’ intention to adopt GB technology. The study could also assist bankers in designing effective strategies to diminish customers’ resistance of GB technology through the applicability of the newly proposed factors. Reflecting the moderating influence of gender provides an in-depth clarification for policy-makers in pitching GB technology to relevant customers with minimal waste of resources by formulating distinct strategies for dynamic demographic segments
Pengaruh keagamaan dan iklim organisasi beretika terhadap integriti pegawai tadbir dan diplomatik
The main purpose of this study is to examine the level of integrity of Administrative and Diplomatic Officers and the factors that influence their level of integrity. Two hundred ninety-four respondents participated in this study. Normality and reliability test were
carried out. This study used descriptive analysis to determine the level of integrity of Administrative and Diplomatic Officers, while Pearson Correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship between the independent variables (religiosity and ethical organizational climate) and the dependent variable (integrity) of Administrative and Diplomatic Officers. To determine the influence of religiosity and ethical organizational climate on integrity, this study used regression analysis. The findings indicated that the level of integrity of Administrative and Diplomatic Officers is high. The relationship between religiosity and integrity is negative but still significant while the relationship between ethical organizational climate is significant but relatively weak. Based on the regression analysis, only ethical organizational climate is found to have a positive influence on integrity while religiosity has a negative influence on integrity. Thus, only one hypothesis is accepted. Therefore, the study recommends that to enhance the integrity of Administrative and Diplomatic Officers in Malaysia, ethical organization climate should be given high attention
Factors influencing the adoption of digital technology among working millennials
Industrial revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0), has gained high attention in Malaysia and become a national agenda. IR 4.0 which emphasize on the digital technology, helps business sector to increase customer satisfaction, enhance creativity and innovation, create high-level performance and sustain business competitiveness. Despite its growing importance, there are individuals who are still sceptical to adopt technology. Given that millennials are the largest generational cohort in the current employment, understanding the factors that may contribute to technology adoption among this generational cohort is crucial. Thus, this study aims to examine a relationship between organization support, social support and individual innovativeness; and technology adoption. Convenient sampling method was used. Three hundred and nine working millennials in Kuala Lumpur have participated in this study. Multiple Regression Analysis was used to examine the patterns of relationship among the variables and to empirically test the hypothesis. The result shows that only social support and individual innovative has a positive significant relationship with digital technology adoption. Whereas, organization support has shown insignificant relationship with digital technology adoption. Based on the findings of the study, it indicates that managers should consider social support and individual innovativeness if they were to enhancing the adoption of digital technology among working millennials in Kuala Lumpur
Customer retention in Malaysia banks: the effect of relationship marketing, service quality, price, and mediation of satisfaction
A customer retention strategy is a must for any bank that wishes to remain in this competitive banking. As mentioned in past research, retaining customers is worth more than attracting new ones. The purpose of retaining customers is to maintain a customer base for repeat purchases and revenue-generating. Banks' merger exercise has created a more extensive customer base that allows the banks to cross-sell their products. However, some banks' performance fluctuates. The worst scenario is that lowerranking banks can perform better than the higher-ranking and larger banks. Therefore,
this study aims to understand how to meet the customers' expectations with satisfaction through relationships by building up customer relationships through relationship marketing. Establishing a long-term relationship is a way for the banks to provide service quality, whether human-related or non-human related. Satisfaction would be the mediator to meeting customers' expectations, although service quality perceptions differ. Another variable contributing to this study is the banks' price (interest) to
customers. A slight price difference contributes to a massive difference between the banks and customers. A quantitative research was conducted to obtain the research result by distributing questionnaires to randomly picked banks' customers in three
areas, namely Taiping, Ipoh, and Teluk Intan. One hundred twenty-nine questionnaires were accepted and analysed with SmartPLS software. The results indicate a positive relationship between relationship marketing and service quality towards customer
retention. Both are mediated with satisfaction and support. However, the relationship between price and customer retention is not supported nor mediated by satisfaction. With this outcome, the chances of customers moving to competitors are very high if the competitors offer a better price. Since price is not supported in this research, any future research on customer retention in banks should be conducted from the standpoint of banks' operating or management expenses. Thus, banks can also re-look into the pricing or interest strategy
Strategi Indonesia dalam menguruskan keselamatan sempadan maritim: kes kajian di perairan kepulauan Natuna
As an archipelagic country, Indonesia faces many problems and challenges at its maritime border area. The country also faces a variety of cross-border criminal acts that have taken place around its maritime border area. This study discusses Indonesia's strategies in managing security threats on its waters, with Natuna water areas as a case study. The purpose of this study is: firstly, to identify factors that led to the emergence of maritime border problems and security threats; secondly, to discuss the implications of maritime border security threats; thirdly, to analyze approaches adapted by the Indonesian government in handling maritime border
security threats; and fourthly, to analyze why strategies that have been carried out by the Indonesian government failed in dealing with maritime border security issues and threats particularly in the Natuna waters. This study uses a qualitative approach by using primary and secondary sources as major instrument of data gathering. Primary data were obtained through fieldwork studies, interviews with various related parties, and official statistics and reports from government documents. The secondary data were obtained through books, journals, magazines, bulletins, and newspapers, including those from internet sources. The study shows that the Indonesian waters face very dynamic and complex maritime border security challenges, not only related to the issue of overlapping claims at the Executive Economic Zone (EEZ), but also to the rise of transnational organized crimes such as illegal fishing and smuggling. In the Natuna waters, for instance, managing maritime borders has been compounded by law enforcement issues at the overlapping claim areas. Although there are many maritime law enforcement agencies that could handle maritime border security, their functions are mutually exclusive and not really integrated. This then contributes to the problems of overlapping departmental jurisdiction, human resources and functions; lack of coordination; and vague legal authorities. These issues led to interdepartmental conflicts and frictions between enforcement agencies. This study recommends that the Indonesian government should restructure maritime border regulations and enforcement agencies, so that the management of maritime border security involving various interests and agencies are more integrated. In addition, the Indonesian government needs to intensify border diplomacy in relation to EEZ boundary disputes with Malaysia and Vietnam, to ensure that maritime boundary delimitation agreements can be reached
The influence of visionary leadership and teacher quality toward teacher readiness in Implementing education policy in Indonesia
Today’s educational challenges require leaders who are competent in leading school organizations. Visionary leadership is seen to have the potential to face this challenge. Thus, this study specifically aims to examine visionary leadership and its influence on teacher readiness in implementing education policies (general education policies) in Indonesia. This quantitative study uses a cross-sectional survey design by using a questionnaire as a research instrument. A total of 250 respondents consisting of teachers in 27 schools in the southern part of Bandung in the province of West Java, Indonesia was selected as the study sample through sampling techniques. Study data were collected using questionnaires administered online or face-to-face. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, and the Structural Equation Model (SEM) with the help of SPSS and PLS-SEM software. The findings of the study indicate that there is a significant influence of visionary leadership toward teacher readiness in implementing education policy. Furthermore, teacher quality has a significant influence toward teacher readiness in implementing education policy in Indonesia. Then, teacher quality also acts as a moderating variable in the relationship between visionary leadership and teacher readiness in implementing education policy. In addition, the findings of the study show that there is no difference among visionary leadership, teacher quality and teacher readiness in implementing educational policies based on gender, educational background, age, and teaching experience. It is hoped that the authorities will pay more attention in aneffort to improve visionary leadership in the Indonesian education system
Solving a multi-period inventory routing problem with stochastic unstationary demand rates
The inventory routing problem (IRP) is one of the most challenging problems in logistics and supply chain management (SCM). It aims to optimise the integration between inventory management and vehicle routing operations in a supply network. IRP arise involving the inventory and distribution process consisting of a set of vehicle
routes, delivery quantities, and delivery times that minimise the total inventory and transportation costs with the implementation of vendor-managed inventory (VMI) policies. VMI is a policy in which a supplier assumes the responsibility of maintaining the inventory for the customer while ensuring that they will not run out of stock. Thus,
this research aims to develop a mathematical model known as a mixed-integer programming model to solve a multi-period stochastic unstationary inventory routing problem (MP-SUIRP) in which the demand is considered non-consistent over time. The problem focuses on the one-to-many network, where a single warehouse needs to serve several customers over the planning horizon. The inventories are transported from a warehouse to a set of customers using a fleet of homogeneous vehicles to meet the customer's requirements. As a condition, a customer is allowed to be visited once over a given period. A customer’s demand rates in each period are stochastic unstationary and the warehouse is implementing a VMI. This problem is solved using a simulation software called a mathematical programming language (AMPL) to achieve the optimization result. The mathematical model is modified by the addition of a forecasting technique to determine the customer demand rates to supply the inventories and develop the best vehicle routes for the delivery process. A sensitivity analysis is performed on the critical parameters that influence the optimization results. The computational results show that the algorithms that implement this modified formulation can achieve a better optimization result. Thus, this study helps the
organisation optimise the total inventory and transportation costs for the benefit of financial performance
The application of constructive possession (qabd hukmi) in Islamic financial contracts
Qabd (taking possession) is a fundamental element to acquire the subject matter in sale and purchase contracts as well the other financial contracts. Qabd represents an integral part in any exchange-based contract (‘uqud al-mu’awadhah) and charity-based contract (‘uqud al-tabarru’at) in which a failure to accomplish this important part will hinder the completion of a contract due to the invalid possession of respective subject matter. Given the nature that contemporary transactions are mostly applicable to constructive possession (qabd hukmi) and not widely applicable to the real possession (qabd haqiqi). However, the actual practice of constructive possession encounters several cruxes of issues that threaten its validity such as the impediment on the right of disposal (haq altasarruf), partial of takhliah and tamkin (relinquishment and full access) and unparallel concept between physical and constructive possession that hit the nature of Islamic finance and banking. The research carries objectives to examine the meaning of qabd hukmi from the view of fiqh, its application in the contemporary Islamic financing products and the issues arise upon the implementation of qabd hukmi. This research was assisted by in depth examination on classical fiqh literatures as its basis to extract the intended meaning of qabd hukmi. A qualitative approach was used as the research method and the data collected is gained through the interview. The data was classified and arranged to the respective themes through the coding methods. Ultimately, the research provided suggestions and recommendation that have been seen as a mechanism from the researcher’s perspective to resolve the dispute in the case of constructive possession and encourage the stakeholders of the Islamic finance and banking to evaluate, mitigate and improve the related matters
Factors influencing Muslim customers decision to choose Islamic hire purchase facility in Perlis
Islamic banks frequently use Malaysia's Islamic Hire Purchase (IHP) programme to finance automobiles. In order to ascertain the elements influencing customers' decisions to select the Islamic hire buy facility in Perlis, this research was carried out. The survey questionnaire, which was issued at random, had 105 clients who were using Islamic hire purchase in Perlis. T-test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation, and Multiple Regressions were used to examine the data after they were obtained. The results demonstrate that the customers' decision to use Islamic hire purchase is highly influenced by religious obligation, awareness, tenure, and age. Islamic banks must place a strong emphasis on religious characteristics like ethics and customer-friendly manners because choosing Islamic hire buy depends heavily on these aspects. Islamic banks should broaden their customer base and improve performance through adherence to Islamic principles. Islamic banks also must be open and truthful with their clients in order to dispel misconceptions about Islamic hire buy
Perception towards advertisement in Islam: A study among online sellers
Advertising has been the main element in marketing either for the products or services. Nowadays, deceit and manipulation are prominent strategies in advertising. This is accomplished by overstating or misrepresenting a product's benefits, capabilities, or qualities. Some online sellers take things a step further by staging rigged competitions or hiding the negative aspects of their goods. The aim of this study is to identify the perceptions of online seller towards advertisement in Islam. This research attempts to contribute to the understanding of Islamic advertising among online seller by investigating their practices in the businesses. Qualitative method along with using in-depth interviews with fifteen informants has been done for this research. Data gathered was analyzed using thematic analysis. The results showed that in general, there are different perceptions and views regarding Islamic advertisement. One of the possible reasons to explain this finding is because of the different background and knowledge among informants. This research also finds that not all online seller practice Islamic advertisement due to few reasons. Therefore, this study is hopefully will be able to contribute to a better understanding in the Islamic advertisement among online seller. It also will be able to help in guiding the relevant authorities to help online seller practice Islamic advertisement in their business
