Examining the role of perceived organizational support, job insecurity and work environment on work stress among factory’s production workers
Many studies have been conducted in the past to understand the causes for work stress. However, not many studies have been conducted to understand work stress among low level employees like the factory’s production workers.Work stress is a critical issues faced by any organization especially the manufacturing industries that involving production workers. Compared to years ago, today’s stress level at the workplace has increased. This is especially true for the production workers where the current jobs’ situations require them to stand in a longer period and have to work in shift system where it can lead to chronic stress problems. Thus, this study is conducted with the intention to capture factors that might influence work stress among factory’s production workers. The study examines the direct relationship between perceived organizational support, job insecurity, work environment and work stress. A total of 313 questionnaire were distributed to production workers on site. Response rate was 100%. In this study, hypotheses for direct effect were tested using multiple regression analyses. Results showed that job insecurity and work environment were significantly positively related to work stress. The findings indicate that work stress among production workers can be reduced by indicating that employee retention is the organization priority instead of laying of workers. Apart from that, the results also implied that there is a need for management to improve the working environment by providing with more ergonomics workstation to employees and to create more safe, healthy and harmonious atmosphere where every employees feel less stress and happy to come to work

The comparison of principals’ leadership role, teachers’ attitude and instructional needs for inclusive education in Pakistan
Globally, it is acknowledged that learners with diverse needs are socially more motivated in getting interacted with normal students. They get the opportunity of social inclusion through the way of inclusive education. The purpose of the current research was to compare the leadership role, principals’ and teachers’ attitudes, and the instructional need for general and inclusive education in Lahore, Pakistan. This study was based upon cognitive dissonance, functional leadership, sociocultural, and cognitive learning theories. This study was a convergent mixed methods survey research in its nature. All principals and teachers of the public girls’ and boys’ secondary schools of the city were the population of the study. The sample of 197 principals and 368 secondary school teachers was selected through multistage sampling for the quantitative study. Three principals and six secondary school teachers were selected for the qualitative study. Four tools for measuring principals’ attitude and leadership roles were self-devised, based on the literature reviewed. Likewise, four tools for measuring teachers’ attitude, and their instructional needs were developed. Further, two interview protocols; one for the principals and one for the teachers were developed to conduct in- depth interviews. The collected quantitative data was analyzed by applying inferential nonparametric statistics and the Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney test. The qualitative collected data was further analyzed through thematic analysis. The results of the study showed that principals have low perception about leadership role and attitude. Female teachers have low perception about instructional needs and attitude in inclusive education. It is suggested that the principals and the teachers need to be professionally trained in inclusive education. Besides, the government would have to change the infrastructure, technology facilities, monitor the progress system and retrain the principals and teachers for the 21st century skills in general schools in order to induct inclusive education

The relationship between lean maturity and sustainable lean transformation gains with mediating effects of leadership and culture in Malaysia manufacturing sector
Toyota Motor’s survival during the 1973 global oil crisis, has inspired US manufacturers to transform from the mass production system to the lean production system. However, lean transformation attempted by most manufacturers around the
globe has produced mixed results. Nearly two-thirds of the lean transformation ended in failure, while only a small percentage of those transformed have successfully sustained its gains. Therefore, this study empirically investigated the factors that contribute to Malaysian manufacturers’ ability to achieve sustainable gains as a result of their lean transformation initiatives. Based on extensive literature review, a multiple mediator’s research model was proposed to explain the relationship between lean transformation and sustainable gains. To address several gaps in the current knowledge, sustainable gains were operationalised from tangible and intangible gain facets. Besides that, maturity criteria (completeness, extensiveness and experience) in applying lean
tools were used as proxies to measure the lean transformation level which served as the independent variable. Meanwhile, lean leadership and lean culture were proposed as mediators. The research model was underpinned by the integration of Theory
E and Theory O, as well as the sustainable organisational concept. For testing the research model, a survey on 92 lean manufacturing organisations was conducted. The collected data was then analysed using the PLS-SEM technique running on SmartPLS 3.3.3
software. The results revealed that both lean leadership and lean culture fully mediated the relationship between lean tools adoption maturity and sustainable gains at β = 0.176, t = 2.397, p = 0.017 and β = 0.120, t = 2.016, p = 0.044 respectively. Thus, this study
contributed to the lean management body of knowledge by providing tangible statistical evidence on previously unexplained relationship between lean maturity, lean leadership and lean culture with sustainable gains
Relationships of psychosocial factors and upper extremity discomfort in office workers: cognitive factor as a mediator
Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) are well known and common worldwide, specifically Upper Extremity Discomfort (UED) which is prevalent among office workers who use computers. Work organization, psychosocial factors, physical factors, psychological factors, workstation, working environment and other factors can contribute to the occurrence of UED among computer-based office workers. However, there are also cognitive factors (i.e. attitudes/beliefs/attributions) in the relationship between psychosocial factors and UED which are still not understood in depth by researchers. This cross-sectional, questionnaire-based study is aimed to shed light on the influence of psychosocial factors on UED, and the cognitive factors as the mediator on this relationship, among the workers in A’Sharqiyah University (ASU) in Oman. Several scales of the Maastricht Upper Extremity Questionnaire (MUEQ) and the Upper Limb Disorders Questionnaire (ULDQ) were adopted in the questionnaire of the current study in collecting data. These scales were also translated into the Arabic language to fit the multi-cultural sample of the study. Correlational and regression analysis were also applied to the data and were processed using the SPSS software. This study adds new
knowledge by clarifying the cognitive factor's role in the context of psychosocial factors and UED in the context of computer-based office work. Furthermore, it gives an indication to what extent UED is prevalent among workers in the private universities in Oman. It is recommended that cognitive-behavioral principles and multidisciplinary occupational rehabilitation are to be used in the pain management program for workers who complain of upper extremity musculoskeletal problem in order to improve occupational outcomes in the short term and significantly to reduce the rate of the occurrence of sickness in the longer term. This will eventually help to reduce the economic burden of MSDs worldwide
Hubungan pengantara orientasi keusahawanan terhadap kompetensi pengurusan dan persepsi sokongan organisasi dengan prestasi koperasi sekolah
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between organizational management competency and perceived organizational support with school cooperative performance, in the Northern Malaysian Peninsular states. Despite current reports showing uninspiring performances of school cooperatives, studies in this area are still lacking. This study is underpinned by the resource-based view (RBV) theory for the purpose of clarifying the proposed conceptual framework. A total of 559 questionnaires were distributed to school cooperatives in the states of Perak, Kedah, Penang and Perlis via random clustered sampling and 191
questionnaires were returned with 184 responses found usable. Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the direct relationships between organizational management competency, perceived organizational support, and entrepreneurial orientation with school cooperative performance. Meanwhile, multiple regression analysis was used to examine the combined effect of organizational management competency, perceived organizational support, and entrepreneurial orientation on school cooperative performance. To identify the mediating effect of entrepreneurial
orientation on the relationships between organizational management competency and perceived organizational support with school cooperative performance, hierarchical regression analysis was utilized. Study‟s findings indicated that organizational
management competency, perceived organizational support, and entrepreneurial orientation have positive and significant relationships with school cooperative performance. Investigation on the combined effect of the study‟s variables on school cooperative performance established that only perceived organizational support and entrepreneurial orientation showed their positive and significant effects. More importantly, this study has succeeded to evince the presence of mediating effects of entrepreneurial orientation on the relationships between organizational management competency and perceived organizational support with school cooperative performance. Finally, the study‟s limitations and implications as well as suggestions for future research are also discussed
Philosophical and legal analysis on gender equality: a study in Malaysian corporate sector
As much as human rights are concerned, equality was found as the basic element in all international treaties and conventions of human rights including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948. Within the context of gender in Malaysia, the existing gaps between men and women in economic participation is argued as representing the practice of gender inequality, especially among the decision-makers. Literature has suggested the need for a national policy specifically on anti-discrimination at the workplace. The problem is less effort was done in providing a deeper understanding of the concept of gender equality itself. This study thus aims to
examine the concept of gender equality rooted in the philosophical and legal perspectives through the study of egalitarianism and feminism theories, as well as the regulations related to gender and employment. It is vital in providing a clear view of gender equality towards combating discrimination and reforming social justice. This
study also aims to analyse the practice of gender equality at the Malaysian workplace in highlighting the real picture of the issue and propose the basic guidelines of gender equality at the workplace. A qualitative research design was used by employing two approaches of data collection; the doctrinal library research and interview. The
findings show that gender equality in the Malaysian workplaces are hugely affected by the existing culture in the Malaysian society. It was found that there are several principles in considering gender equality at the workplace, including the principles of equal treatment, entitlement, non-discrimination and equal opportunity not
perpetuating equal outcome. However, this study only covers respondents from several corporate sectors, hence, a more comprehensive study is needed for future research
