    Get PDF
Online Game Addiction (OGA) refers to a problematic condition characterized by excessive and compulsive engagement in online gaming activities, which can leave adolescents vulnerable to cyber threats, such as phishing attacks. Despite existing models and interventions, the persistent impact of OGA among adolescents particularly within Higher Learning Institutions (HLIs) remains a concern. This study aims to develop a Secure Intention Behavior (SIB) model of OGA among adolescents in HLIs. This model adapted the extended Protection Motivation Theory (PMT) which introduced by Jansen and Schaik in 2018, for a better understanding of the cybersecurity perspective with the integration of Cybercognition and Online Game Addiction Severity (OGAS) as a moderator. A quantitative approach was adopted, with 850 questionnaires were distributed across Malaysia's Southern, Northern, Eastern and Central regions using simple random sampling to ensure unbiased and enhances the generalizability of the findings. Of the 713 returned questionnaires, 660 were deemed usable for analysis, resulting in an impressive 84% valid response rate. Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed to test the hypothesized relationship within the proposed SIB model. The findings confirmed most of the direct relationships, except for Perceived Vulnerability to Protection Motivation. Notably, OGAS played a significant moderating role, underscoring its important in understanding adolescent's behavior. The structural model was rigorously validated for predictive accuracy and enhance its reliability. The expert evaluation further confirmed the model's robustness by four experts' evaluation and was done using content analysis technique. The study contributes to the body of knowledge by introducing a novel SIB model in the context of cybersecurity, providing valuable insight for developing intervention and preventive strategies to address complex issues of OGA among adolescents in HLls. The result also paves the way for future exploration of OGA using the PMT framework

This thesis examines how pay, opportunities for job advancement, and work-life balance affect the front-line workers in the automotive industry’s employee retention rate. The automotive industry is becoming more and more competitive, making it imperative for organizations to retain qualified workers in order to achieve success. Using a stratified random sample technique, the study employs a quantitative research methodology to guarantee thorough representation across various departments and job roles. Structured questionnaires are used to gather data on how employees feel about their remuneration, possibilities for personal growth, and how to manage both their professional and private lives. The research, which used statistical techniques like regression, shows that work-life balance, chances for job advancement, and remuneration all have significant effects on whether or not employees decide to stay with the organization. Particularly, it has been discovered that work-life balance programs, attractive wages, and clear career growth routes all have a good effect on employee retention. The results have significant implications for the automotive industry, demonstrating that strategic enhancements in these domains can augment employee contentment and allegiance. This study adds to our knowledge of the changing trends of employee retention in the automotive industry and provides useful suggestions for improving human resource management procedures to hold on to top employees

Green initiatives towards better financial performance of shariah public listed companies in Malaysia

    Get PDF
This study aims to analyze the impact of green initiatives on the financial performance of Shariah-compliant companies listed on Bursa Malaysia. Shariah-compliant firms bear a greater responsibility in adopting sustainability practices, in alignment with Islamic principles that emphasize social justice, environmental preservation, and financial transparency. However, despite the widespread adoption of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards, challenges remain in ensuring that green strategies yield tangible financial benefits. This research employs a Random Effect Model (REM) in panel data regression analysis to examine the relationship between ESG, green accounting, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with financial performance, measured through Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE). The data is collected from the annual reports of Shariah-compliant firms listed in the FTSE4GOOD Bursa Malaysia Index 2019-2023. Additionally, moderating variables such as firm size and industry type are analyzed to assess their influence on these relationships. The findings indicate that the implementation of green accounting in Shariah-compliant firms contributes to improved operational efficiency and resource management. However, ESG and CSR adoption often face significant cost barriers and a lack of long-term incentives. Further analysis reveals that firm characteristics, including size and industry type, play a moderating role in the relationship between sustainability strategies and financial performance

Pakistan has undergone a period of transition following the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to increased reliance on computers and online resources in government schools. Over the past decade and a half, effective teaching and learning of English has become a focal point for policymakers. To contribute to this evolving landscape, the present study investigated the effect of using Penzu in Computer Assisted Language Instruction (CALI) on students’ writing skills at the higher secondary school in Pakistan. A mixed-methods research design was employed, utilizing a quasi-experiment and semi-structured interviews. Sixty EFL students from Punjab participated in the quasi-experimental study, while 15 higher secondary school EFL teachers and students were selected for interviews. Quantitative data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests and analyzed using T-Tests in SPSS version 28, while qualitative data were analyzed using thematic coding in NVivo. The experimental results showed that students in the experimental group demonstrated greater accuracy in writing skills on the post-test compared to students in the control group. Interview data revealed that younger EFL teachers were more inclined to use technology than their senior counterparts. Additionally, the findings highlighted differences in EFL teachers’ attitudes toward using CALI based on gender, age, and experience. Finally, the results have significant theoretical, practical, and pedagogical implications for higher secondary education and the professional development of EFL teachers

Basic writing skills must be mastered by non-native students learning Arabic in Malaysia. This is especially important in Al-Lughah Al-Arabiah Al-Muasirah (LAM) at Sekolah Agama Bantuan Kerajaan (SABK). However, most students in Malaysia still struggle with Arabic writing skills due to their limited vocabulary mastery and lack of practice in applying learning strategies in their daily lives. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the influence of vocabulary learning and cognitive strategies on Arabic writing skills for the subject LAM in SABK in Kedah. This quantitative study in the form of a cross-sectional survey involved 362 students who were randomly selected from several SABK schools of each district in Kedah. The findings indicate that the variables of vocabulary learning, cognitive strategies and Arabic writing skills are at high level. Additionally, the study findings indicate a positive and significant relationship between vocabulary learning and Arabic writing skills, although the correlation is weak. In contrast, the relationship between cognitive strategies and Arabic writing skills is positive and significant, with a moderate correlation strength. Meanwhile, vocabulary learning and cognitive strategies have a significant influence on Arabic writing skills. Regression analysis results indicate that only 10.8% and 27.8% of the variance in writing skills can be explained by vocabulary learning and cognitive strategies, respectively. Although vocabulary learning and cognitive strategies do not show a large influence, both of these variables also contribute to the improvement of Arabic writing skills of students, especially in LAM subjects. The information of the findings in this study serves as a basis for LAM subject teachers to improve Arabic writing skills among students and provide a positive impact on the progress of Arabic language education in Malaysia, especially in SABK, Kedah

    Get PDF
The development of e-wallets in Indonesia has been slow due to low trust in transaction security, limited merchant acceptance of e-wallet payments and transaction costs. Although the Indonesian government is promoting a shift from cash to cashless payments, studies are needed to identify the factors that encourage continued e-wallet use. This study aims to determine whether the continued intention to use e-wallets will result in a shift from cash to cashless payments. It also examines whether trust is a key factor influencing continued e-wallet use. Increased trust is achieved through promotional campaigns, facilitating merchants' provision of e-wallet devices, and offering various incentives. This study adopts the Expectation-Confirmation Model (ECM) as a foundational model to investigate the factors influencing the intention to continue using e-wallets. This model integrates several constructs, such as trust, wide acceptance, incentives, perceived security, and habits, which are deemed to increase the use of e-wallets. This study uses a quantitative-positivist approach, with data analysed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to validate the proposed model. Overall, the model shows a good fit with the data collected. The findings reveal that trust and satisfaction are significant predictors of the intention to continue using e-wallets. Interestingly, perceived usefulness is not a dominant factor, likely due to varying levels of user experience among respondents, with some lacking prior exposure to e-wallet usage. The continued intention to use ewallets can shape people's habits to transact using the e-wallet. Theoretically, this study contributes to the continuance of e-wallet usage by highlighting the importance of enhancing public satisfaction and trust, which, in turn, fosters habitual usage. Practically, this study provides valuable insights for e-wallet providers into key factors that can increase the use of e-wallets in the future. Additionally, this study supports government initiatives towards a cashless societ

Sufism is the spiritual essence within Islamic teachings that plays an important role in the purification of the soul and the formation of noble character. The purpose is to draw closer to Allah SWT and to distance oneself from worldly influences that lead to distraction. However, the appreciation of spirituality and Sufism is increasingly marginalised in the current formal education system, thus contributing to various social issues within modern society. One of the methods to address this issue is by delving into the thoughts of Tok Pulau Manis in the Kitab Syarah Hikam. However, this book is difficult for the public to understand due to its use of archaic language. Therefore, this study is conducted to highlight the wise words of Ibn Atha’illah al-Sakandari as explained by Tok Pulau Manis in the Kitab Syarah Hikam, using language and explanations that are easier to comprehend. There are three objectives in this study: first, to examine the factors influencing Tok Pulau Manis' thoughts; second, to analyse the form of Tok Pulau Manis' thinking; and third, to study the classification of aphorisms in Tok Pulau Manis' Kitab Syarah Hikam. This qualitative study employs library research and in-depth interviews as methods for data collection, while content analysis is used to analyse the collected data. The findings of the study reveal that Tok Pulau Manis's family background, education and his position as a religious advisor have significantly influenced the development of his thoughts, establishing him as a prominent scholar. His ideas on matters of creed (aqidah), Islamic law (sharia), and ethics (akhlaq) are not only relevant but also capable of providing valuable guidance for modern society. The implications of this study are clearly significant, as it paves the way for the application of Sufi values in daily life, thereby addressing the social challenges faced by contemporary society. Additionally, this study has the potential to strengthen spiritual education at all levels of society to achieve well-being and inner peace
