The success of any organization lies in the ability of human resources management staff to hire and select the best employees to perform the required duties and tasks, the ability to retain competent employees. Accordingly, the problem of the study is represented in the obstacles facing the human resources department in the field of manufacturing in Dubai to recruit the best employees so that they can accomplish the required tasks effectively and efficiently. The study aimed to know the effect of human resource practices (employee selection, employee recruitment, staffing process) on the performance of the organization, investigate the mediating effect of competitive advantage on the relationship between those human resource practices and the performance of the organization, in addition to investigate the moral effect of the use of artificial intelligence in analyzing the CV of employees and its potential contribution in the organization performance. The study used the quantitative method with a cross-sectional design, by using the questionnaire as a tool for data collection. The study population is equivalent to the total number of human resources workers in manufacturing industries in Dubai. The actual study sample consisted of (247) employees who were chosen randomly and the most important results indicate the success of the model as it can predict 78.2% of the organization's performance. The study found a positive statistically significant relationship between (employee selection, employee recruitment, staffing process) and organizational performance, there is a positive statistically significant relationship between (employee selection, employee recruitment, staffing process) and competitive advantage, the study also found that artificial intelligence has a positive moderate effect on the relationship between (employee selection, employee recruitment, staffing process) and competitive advantage. The whole combination of six research subjects show positive perceptions among the respondents. Likewise, there is a direct relationship between the three probabilities in the implementation of human resource management. Besides, the priority of the relationship based on the path coefficient value for employee recruitment is (ER) 0.201, for employee selection is (ES) 0.132 and for employee recruitment process is (SP) 0.372. The three variables show that there is 36.2% variance of organizational performance (OP). Meanwhile, the priority of the relationship based on the path coefficient value which is employee recruitment is 0.183, employee selection is 0.176 and the staffing process is 0.024. Meanwhile, the competitive advantage has a significant effect on organizational performance which is 0.281 and also has a good link in the relationship between the three variables and organizational performance

One of the most important abilities for attaining language proficiency is the ability to write. Previous studies have revealed that Pakistani English as a second language (ESL) students faced a number of writing issues. Nonetheless, there are few studies in Pakistan on the impact of metacognitive strategies on academic writing since researchers have been emphasizing on the impact of metacognitive strategies on reading and listening, as well as the relevance of language learning strategies. The current study aimed to investigate the impact of metacognitive learning strategies on writing skills and the effect of metacognitive intervention on content and organization, unity and coherence, and grammar of ESL undergraduate learners’ writings in Baluchistan, Pakistan. It also explored the attitudes and beliefs of tertiary students towards using metacognitive learning strategies in their English writing. The research employed a mixed method i.e. quantitative and qualitative. In terms of quantitative method, the study used quasi experimental design in which two intact groups of ESL undergraduates participated in metacognitive strategic intervention. The intervention included 8 training sessions i.e., 3 hours per session. Data were collected through a pre and post-training writing task and questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale. The data was analyzed through statistical analysis SPSS version 23. Whereas, qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews. Data was analyzed according to Flowers’ and Hayes (1980) theory. The results of the study revealed that the degree of metacognitive strategic awareness was low among the participants in the two groups of the study. The metacognitive strategic intervention was found to be significantly effective and assisted the students in experimental group to increase their metacognitive knowledge, improve their content and organization, unity and coherence, and grammar, and enhance their academic writing. The results also demonstrate that the metacognitive strategic intervention has a significant effect on the participant’s performance in becoming better writers. The qualitative results indicated that the students have a positive attitude towards learning strategies and belief that it is better for students to focus more on metacognitive strategies which help them to write efficiently. Therefore, the results of the study demonstrate that the metacognitive strategic intervention emerged to have a significant effect on the participant’s performance in becoming better writers. This study implies that teaching metacognitive strategies play a significant role in enhancing ESL undergraduate learners’ writing skills and improving their content and organization, unity and coherence, and grammar knowledge. Therefore, teachers can use this strategy in teaching to help students improve their writing skills

    Get PDF
In the current era, leaders serve organizations’ demands and fulfill consumers’ needs by encouraging their workforce to follow them. Hence, they abided to practice effective leadership styles to gain success in today’s demanding climate. The study aimed to explore the three contemporary leadership styles: green, servant, and digital leadership, and test their relationship with organizational performance in the presence of leader distance as a moderator. Drawing on the literature from preceding articles, the study developed a framework and established the relationship between constructs with the support of the Resource-Based View (RBV) theory. The respondents were employees from Maybank Malaysia in Kedah and Perlis. SPSS software, diagnostic and statistical analyses are used. The results show that leadership styles such as servant leadership and digital leadership are correlated with organizational performance. However, findings reveal no relationship between green leadership and organizational performance. Furthermore, leader distance moderates the relationship between green, and servant leadership, and organizational performance. Moreover, the moderating relationship between digital leadership and organizational performance is partially supported. Implications, limitations, and future recommendations were also canvassed at the end of the research

A steady increase in the office property vacancy rate has been detected in the previous years, resulting in a lot of underutilised and abandoned offices. This study analyses the relationship between the macroeconomic variables and the office property vacancy rate from the year 1992 to 2018. The macroeconomics variables are represented by the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), interest rate, inflation rate and unemployment rate. The data for the macroeconomics variables were collected from Bank Negara Malaysia, World Bank, Jabatan Penilaian dan Perkhidmatan Harta and the Department of Statistics Malaysia. EViews software was used to run the panel regression analysis on the relationships of the variables. The finding was that only one macroeconomic variable was significant in positively affecting the office property vacancy rate and it is the FDI. This result suggests that an injection of inward Foreign Direct Investment could increase the vacancy rate, although it technically brings more demand for office space. Based on this study, it is recommended that for future studies to include a breakdown of the sub-sectors within the office property, meaning to see which types of offices and business are more affected by the macroeconomics variables

    No full text
This study attempts to identify the willingness of households to pay to improve the quality of the river in Cameron Highland. A total 200 suitable respondents were collected for this study. The objective is 1) to identify the demographics of a household, 2) to evaluate the willingness of Malaysian households to pay to prevent river pollution 3) to investigate the level of awareness among Malaysian households regarding river preservation and 4) to assess respondents' satisfaction with river pollution in Cameron Highland. Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) technique was used in this study where the single-bounded dichotomous choice was used to determine the willingness to pay. MARIT, INCOME, AGE and EDU have a positive sign because respondent believe that education, marriage and income is one of major factor that impact the WTP to improve the quality of rivers when respondent’s incomes are greater and more likely to be paid. GEN, OCU and FMLY have negative sign. The coefficient of LBD is strongly negative, as would be predicted. It is calculated that the mean WTP is 6.40 RM. When this is multiplied by the entire number of people who responded to the survey, an estimate of the total WTP for the pollutant may be derived. Finally, this study yields several recommendations to prevent river pollution in Cameron Highlands
