    Background: Dysmenorrhea, which is the condition of cramps or pain during menstruation, can be caused by various factors, including inadequate intake of calcium and iron. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between the adequacy of calcium and iron intake and the severity of primary dysmenorrhea among nutrition students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Method: A cross-sectional design was used in this study with a sample of 140 female students at Nutrition Science in UMS. Simple random sampling was utilized for sample collection. The WaLIDD scale questionnaire was used to calculate dysmenorrhea scores, and the SQ-FFQ form was employed to assess the adequacy of calcium and iron intake over the past month. Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank test. Results: The findings indicate that all students experienced dysmenorrhea, with an average calcium intake adequacy of 36.3% and an average iron intake adequacy also categorized as insufficient (42.4%). From the Spearman Rank test analysis, the adequacy of calcium intake related to dysmenorrhea showed a p-value of 0.450, and iron intake adequacy related to dysmenorrhea had a p-value of 0.244. Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between the adequacy of calcium and iron intake and the severity of primary dysmenorrhea among the nutrition students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. It is recommended that future researchers can conduct blood serum measurements to assess calcium and iron levels to prevent dysmenorrhea

    One group that is prone to nutritional problems is university students. One lifestyle that can affect nutritional status is breakfast habits. In addition, short sleep time can also affect nutritional status. For some people, eating is a way to cope with stress, so a person's psychological state, i.e., stress, can affect nutritional status. The aim of this study was to clarify the relationship between breakfast habits, sleep time, stress levels and obesity rates among university students. This type of study uses analytical observational technique with cross-sectional design. Purposive sampling was used in the sampling technique in this study. The population of this study consisted of active students of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Jember State University of Technology, with a total sample size of 98. Statistical analysis using SPSS application and Spearman rho test. Conclusion: Based on the analysis performed, the results show that there is a relationship between breakfast habits (p=0.000, r = - 0.491) and sleep duration (p = 0.011, r = - 0.255) and obesity rates among students. There is no relationship between stress levels (p=0.370, r=0.092) and obesity rates among students

    Effect of Nutrition Education through Pegia e-Health on Mothers’ Knowledge, Attitudes, Practices and Their Impact on Nutritional Intake of Children Aged 3-6 years

    Background: Mothers’ nutritional knowledge, attitudes, and practices influence children's feeding habits. Therefore, mothers are expected to receive appropriate nutrition education to improve dietary behaviors. This research aimed to analyze the influence of nutrition education through Pegia e-Health on mothers’ nutritional knowledge, attitudes, and practices, as well as its impact on the nutritional intake of children aged 3-6 years. Method: The design used a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest group. This research was conducted for 12 weeks, and the total number of respondents was 54 mothers with children aged 3-6 years from 8 preschool institutions in Banyumas Regency. Results: There was a significant increase in median knowledge, attitudes, and nutrition practice scores by 8.0, 5, and 1.0 points (p: 0.000 <0.05). Furthermore, there was a significant increase in nutritional intake, including 31.15 g of carbohydrates, 1.44 g of fiber, and 380.07 RE (Retinol Equivalents) of vitamin A (p <0.05). Conclusion: Pegia e-Health had an impact on improving mothers’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices, as well as the increase in carbohydrate, fiber, and vitamin A intake in children. It was recommended that mothers increase the frequency and access time to Pegia e-Health to improve their dietary behaviors

    Latar Belakang : Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) memiliki keunggulan komparatif dalam sektor peternakan dan perikanan. Selain itu, Provinsi NTT juga merupakan sentra ternak sapi dan babi. Namun, konsumsi protein penduduk Provinsi NTT relatif rendah di Indonesia. Kondisi ini juga diduga menjadi penyebab Provinsi NTT memiliki angka prevalensi stunting tertinggi di Indonesia. Tujuan : Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran umum, determinan, serta elastisitas pendapatan dan harga dari konsumsi protein hewani di Provinsi NTT Tahun 2018 sampai 2023. Metode : Analisis yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu analisis deskriptif dan regresi data panel double-log. Hasil : Seluruh komoditas protein hewani dipengaruhi secara signifikan oleh harga dan pendapatan. Selain itu, rata-rata lama sekolah juga berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap konsumsi daging, telur, ikan, dan susu bubuk. Rata-rata jumlah anggota rumah tangga hanya berpengaruh signifikan terhadap konsumsi telur. Seluruh komoditas protein hewani bersifat inelastis terhadap perubahan harga. Sementara itu, komoditas yang bersifat elastis terhadap perubahan pendapatan adalah daging dan susu cair. Kesimpulan : Peningkatan pendapatan penduduk, stabilisasi harga komoditas protein hewani, dan kampanye edukasi mengenai gizi perlu untuk dilakukan agar meningkatkan konsumsi protein hewani di Provinsi NTT

    The prevalence of obesity continues to increase due to changes in energy balance caused by various factors. Risk factors for obesity consist of heredity, diet, lack of physical activity, age, gender and socio-economic factors. This study aims to determine the relationship between consumption of instant noodles, junk food and physical activity with the incidence of obesity in adolescents at SMKN 3 Bogor. This research used a cross-sectional design and was conducted on March 22 – June 12 2024 at SMKN 3 Bogor. The number of subjects selected in this research was 114 people using purposive sampling technique. The Spearman test results show that there is a significant relationship (p<0.05) between pocket money, junk food consumption and physical activity with the incidence of obesity in teenagers at SMKN 3 Bogor. On the other hand, the Spearman test results showed that there was no relationship (p>0.05) between age, gender and instant noodle consumption and the incidence of obesity in adolescents at SMKN 3 Bogor

    Background: Native chicken liver flour is a food ingredient obtained from Native chicken liver.Native chicken liver is one of the food ingredients that contains high iron. The utilization of chickenliver flour is done in the form of cookies, which is a snack that is often consumed by the communityand can be a side dish. Objective: Analyzing the comparison of the acceptability of cookies on the characteristics of color, taste, aroma, and texture of 4 formulas. Methods: This research used a complete randomized design (CRD) type of experimental research with 1 control and 4 (four) treatments and data processing using ANOVA test and Duncan's further test using Statistical Program for Social Science (SPSS). Results: The results of hedonic test analysis using ANOVA showed that F0, F1, F2, F3 there were significant differences in color, taste, aroma, and texture significance 0.000 (p < 0.05). While the results of the organoleptic quality test analysis using ANOVA show that F0, F1, F2, F3 show that there are significant differences in color, taste, and aroma with a significance of 0.000 (p < 0.05). However, there is no significant difference in texture significance 0.358 (p>0.05). Conclusion: There is a comparison of the acceptability and characteristics of cookies with the addition of Kampong chicken liver flour and kepok banana flour in each treatment. F3 became the selected formula because it obtained the highest value in the parameters of color, taste, aroma, and textur

    Introduction: Exclusive breastfeeding is one of the efforts to overcome health and nutrition problems in children. Support from various parties, such as family and health workers, can affect the success of exclusive breastfeeding. Purpose: This research aimed to determine the relationship between family support and health worker support with exclusive breastfeeding. Method: This research used an observational design with a cross sectional approach. The research was conducted in the Banjar Agung Health Center working area, with a sample of 53 people, selected by purposive sampling method. Data were collected by direct interview using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. Result: The results showed that there were mothers with less family support (26,4%), less health worker support (50,9%), and did not provide exclusive breastfeeding (56,6%). The results of the analysis showed that there is an association between family support and exclusive breastfeeding (p = 0,025), but there is no association between health worker support and exclusive breastfeeding (p = 1,000). Conclusion: Intervention programs such as nutrition counselling and education for families, as well as training for health workers to strengthen their role in increasing exclusive breastfeeding are needed

    Substitusi Tempe Koro dan Ikan Lele Pada Mi Basah untuk Alternatif Anak Stunting

    Latar belakang: Stunting masih menjadi masalah gizi kronis di Indonesia yang disebabkan oleh rendahnya asupan protein hewani dan nabati. Pangan sumber protein seperti Tepung Tempe Koro Pedang Putih (TTKPP) dan ikan lele dapat digunakan untuk alternatif pencegah stunting. Tujuan: Menentukan mi basah dari tapioka, TTKPP, dan lele terbaik menurut kadar protein, lemak, dan mutu hedonik (warna, aroma, tekstur, dan rasa) tertinggi. Metode: Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan perlakuan F (proporsi tapioka:ikan lele:TTKPP) yaitu F1 (50:10:40); F2 (50:20:30); F3 (50:30:20); F4 (50:40:10); F5 (50:50:0); dan F6 (50:0:50) dengan 4 kali ulangan. Uji ANOVA dan DMRT digunakan untuk menganalisis kadar protein dan lemak, sedangkan friedman untuk mutu hedonik. Hasil: Perbedaan proporsi berpengaruh (p<0,05) terhadap protein, tekstur, aroma, dan rasa, namun tidak berpengaruh (p>0,05) terhadap lemak dan  atribut warna. Kesimpulan: Mi basah F2 (tapioka 50:ikan lele 20:TTKPP 30) sebagai formula terbaik memiliki kadar air 70,46%bb, abu 1,02%bk, karbohidrat by difference 70,82%bk, energi 118,41 kal, protein 27,18%bk, dan lemak 0,98% bk.Mi basah formula terbaik mampu memenuhi 30,1% kebutuhan protein dan 0,46% kebutuhan lemak anak usia 1–3 tahun, sehingga berpotensi sebagai alternatif makanan untuk pencegahan stunting

    High levels of free radicals induce oxidative stress. In young adults, as students, the increase of free radicals is triggered by psychological stress, obesity, and lack of physical activity. Malondialdehyde (MDA) is the product of lipid peroxidation by free radicals, which can be used as a marker of oxidative stress. Free radicals can be neutralized by antioxidants such as vitamin D. This study aims to determine the effect of vitamin D supplementation on malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in first-year medical students at the Faculty of Medicine, Pattimura University. This is an experimental analytic study with a pretest-posttest control group design approach. The data used were primary data taken from 22 samples given vitamin D for 10 days and 22 control samples. Measurement of plasma MDA in this study was performed using the TBARS method. The result shows a decrease in plasma MDA levels in the intervention group with a significant p-value = 0.001. This indicates the potential of vitamin D to be used as an antioxidant. Further research is needed to determine the exact mechanisms related to this antioxidant effect.

    Pengaruh Penggunaan Buku Saku Elektronik SEPADI (Sehat Tanpa Diabetes) Terhadap Pengetahuan dan Sikap Pencegahan Diabetes Mellitus pada Prediabetes

    Seseorang yang mengalami prediabetes memiliki kemungkinan akan berkembang menjadi DM. Salah satu upaya untuk mengurangi risiko terjadinya diabetes adalah dengan meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat melalui pendidikan gizi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan buku saku elektronik SEPADI (Sehat Tanpa Diabetes) yang dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan sikap pencegahan diabetes mellitus pada prediabetes. Penelitian ini adalah jenis penelitian quasi exsperimental design dengan rancangan penelitian pretest and posttest with control group design. Populasi yang digunakan adalah masyarakat di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Gamping I, Gamping, Sleman, DI Yogyakarta yang terdiagnosis prediabetes berdasarkan skrining findrisc sebanyak 48 orang. Hasil dari Penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan antara nilai pengetahuan maupun sikap setelah diberikan pendidikan gizi menggunakan media buku saku elektronik (p=0,001) dengan kenaikan skor mean sebesar 17,71. Terjadi peningkatan yang signifikan antara nilai pengetahuan maupun sikap setelah diberikan pendidikan gizi menggunakan media leaflet elektronik (p=0,001) dengan kenaikan skor mean sebesar 5,33. Pemberian buku saku elektronik SEPADI dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan sikap responden prediabetes lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan pemberian leaflet elektronik
