    Qualitative study exploring the barriers and facilitators to using and recommending aspirin for cancer prevention - qualitative interview data

    This dataset comprises a subset of the interviews described below: 12 Lynch syndrome interviews, and 8 GP interviews. Background: The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NG151) recommends considering daily aspirin for people with Lynch syndrome to reduce colorectal cancer risk. However, patients and their healthcare providers considering preventive therapy need to negotiate complex decisions that weigh up potential benefits and harms. Method: We conducted semi-structured interviews to explore the barriers and facilitators to using aspirin for preventive therapy. We recruited 15 people with Lynch syndrome, and 23 healthcare providers across multiple professions in primary and specialist care in the United Kingdom.     Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA) is one of the most common and successful surgical interventions. The survivorship at 10 years for the most commonly used systems is over 95%. However, the incidence of revision is usually much higher in the 0-1 year time period following the intervention. The most common reason for revision in this early time period is dislocation and subluxation, which may be defined as complete and permanent or partial and temporary loss of contact between the bearing surfaces respectively.This study comprises the development of a geometric model of bone and an in-situ total hip replacement, to predict the occurrence and location of bone and component impingement for a wide range of acetabular cup positions and for a series of frequently practiced activities of daily living. The model developed predicts that antero-superior component impingement is associated with activities that result in posterior dislocation. The incidence may be reduced by increased cup anteversion and increased inclination. Postero-inferior component impingement is associated with anterior dislocation activities. Its incidence may be reduced by decreased anteversion and reduced inclination. A component impingement-free range was identified running from when the cup was positioned with 45° inclination and 25° cup anteversion to 70° inclination and 15°-20° anteversion

    Globular folded proteins are versatile nanoscale building blocks to create biomaterials with mechanical robustness and inherent biological functionality due to their specific and well-defined folded structures. Modulating the nanoscale unfolding of protein building blocks during network formation (in situ protein unfolding) provides potent opportunities to control the protein network structure and mechanics. Here, we control protein unfolding during the formation of hydrogels constructed from chemically cross-linked maltose binding protein using ligand binding and the addition of cosolutes to modulate protein kinetic and thermodynamic stability. Bulk shear rheology characterizes the storage moduli of the bound and unbound protein hydrogels and reveals a correlation between network rigidity, characterized as an increase in the storage modulus, and protein thermodynamic stability. Furthermore, analysis of the network relaxation behavior identifies a crossover from an unfolding dominated regime to an entanglement dominated regime. Control of in situ protein unfolding and entanglement provides an important route to finely tune the architecture, mechanics, and dynamic relaxation of protein hydrogels. Such predictive control will be advantageous for future smart biomaterials for applications which require responsive and dynamic modulation of mechanical properties and biological function

    This dataset contains the simulation data for the paper "An exploration of dust grain growth within WCd systems using an advected scalar dust model", which is a parameter space search of colliding wind binary (CWB) systems. The main parameters varied influence the momentum ratio, velocity ratio and cooling parameter. The simulations were generated using a modified version of the Athena++ hydrodynamical code (the modified version is included in the repository), which was rewritten to include a rudimentary dust model, orbital mechanics, wind outflows and radiative cooling. Plotting code is also included to read these files and repoduce the plots from our papers. Data is stored in the form of .HDF5 files, which are an open standard. The entire output of the simulation was considered too large to store (>100 TB), and as such measures were taken to ensure that this data can be replicated

The crystals exhibit a range of spin state properties, including stepwise spin-crossover of the two iron atoms. A related ligand with a rigid pyrid-2,6-diyl spacer forms more a distorted, high-spin diiron(II) helicate structure
