A Case Report of Granular Cell Tumor in the Tongue and a Brief Literature Review of Granular Cell Tumor in the Oral Cavity
Granular cell tumors (GCT) are rare, benign soft tissue neoplasms that primarily affect the oral cavity, with the tongue being the most common site. These tumors are typically asymptomatic, slow−growing, and present as well−circumscribed, painless lesions. The histopathological hallmark of GCT is the presence of granular cells, characterized by eosinophilic cytoplasm due to the accumulation of lysosomal enzymes. Immunohistochemical staining reveals positivity for S−100 protein, which suggests an origin from Schwann cells. This case report details a granular cell tumor found in the tongue of a 62−year−old male patient, highlighting its clinical presentation, histopathological findings, and management. Additionally, a brief review of the literature on the clinical features, diagnostic methods, and treatment of GCT in the oral cavity is provided. The prognosis after surgical excision is generally favorable, with low recurrence rates.departmental bulletin pape
Activation models of Hedgehog signaling in cancer
The Hedgehog (Hh) signaling pathway is a highly conserved developmental system that plays a pivotal role in tissue patterning, cellular proliferation, and differentiation. Beyond embryogenesis, Hh signaling remains crucial for adult tissue homeostasis and stem cell maintenance. Dysregulation of this pathway has been implicated in the development and progression of various human cancers. Hh pathway activation not only drives tumor cell proliferation and survival but also modulates the tumor microenvironment (TME), affecting immune regulation, angiogenesis, and bone metabolism. This mini−review aims to categorize and analyze the mechanistic diversity of Hh pathway activation in cancer, highlighting its biological significance and therapeutic implications. Recent studies have classified Hh activation mechanisms in cancer into four distinct models : ligand−independent, autocrine ligand−dependent, paracrine ligand−dependent, and reverse paracrine ligand−dependent. Ligand−independent tumors, such as basal cell carcinoma and medulloblastoma, are characterized by mutations in core Hh components like PTCH1 and SMO. Autocrine activation involves tumor−derived Hh ligands stimulating their own receptors, while paracrine activation features tumor−secreted ligands acting on surrounding stromal cells to promote tumor progression. Conversely, in reverse paracrine activation, TME cells supply Hh ligands that activate tumor cells. Understanding these diverse activation models is crucial for designing precision therapies targeting the Hh pathway. This review highlights recent advances in Hh signaling research, discusses the clinical relevance of these four activation models, and explores future prospects for targeting the Hh pathway in oncology. These mechanistic insights not only deepen our understanding of Hh pathway biology but also inform the development of context−specific therapeutic strategies, including combination approaches that integrate immune and metabolic modulation within the tumor microenvironment.departmental bulletin pape

This study aimed to clarify the effects and challenges incorporating the Certified Social Worker OSCE into social work practicum by conducting interviews with 10 practicum supervisors. The results showed the effectiveness incorporating the Certified Social Worker OSCE in social work practice [the usefulness of having the OSCE in the practice system]. In addition, the practicum supervisors utilized the OSCE results as[materials for forming an image of the students], which served as the basis for starting the practicum supervision relationship, and [drew the practice experience based on the practice program they had prepared and made it start and progress]. During the practice, the OSCE incorporated as [OSCE to be used for practice supervision] and was also used as an evaluation axis. Furthermore, it became clear that the students were aware of their [practical behavior during the practicum influenced by the OSCE experience] and [the training and evaluation of the students produced by the OSCE system].
In terms of problems, [skills expected by the practicum supervisors from the students] and [keys to bridging the gap between the OSCE and the practicum], it was thought necessary to consider how OSCE results could be effectively used.departmental bulletin pape
