In this article, we will discuss the importance of interdisciplinary approaches emphasized by contemporary novel themes and urgent social issues. Writing about wars, chronic diseases, terrorism, and illegal migration represents major focal points that necessitate the integration of related sciences, as these are pressing issues that require active discussion and the consideration of scholars' perspectives from various disciplines. The aim of this article is to demonstrate how these sciences can contribute to solving a specific literary or social issue. Our findings indicate that analyzing contemporary selfhood requires multiple perspectives and disciplines to address its crisis and psychological fluctuations in response to societal transformations, globalization, and the dominance of materialism over values
دراسة مقارنة للعولمة، التهميش والتابع في الأدب العربي والفرنسي (روایة الأزمان المظلمة وروایة غلوبالیا أنموذجًا)
The novel The Dark Times by the Syrian writer, Talib Umran, and the novel Globalia by the French writer Jean-Christophe Ruffin spread after the events of September 11, 2001 AD, and the concepts of globalization, marginalization, and dependency were clearly evident in the two aforementioned novels. The comparative reading in this research was carried out within the post-colonial analysis of the two novels, with a focus on the concepts of globalization, marginality, and dependency. The results indicate that Umran and Ruffin were among the staunch opponents and critics of globalization. It is also noted in the novel Globalia and the novel The Dark Times that the world is divided into two parts; The first section is in the center, constitutes a civilized world, has all kinds of facilities, luxury and modern technologies, and the other section is on the periphery, living in poverty, deprivation and underdevelopment with all the negative attributes attributed to it such as brutality, barbarism and terrorism
Reviewing the degradation of environmental pollution in cement concrete structures using Nano-Titanium Dioxide
The rising levels of pollution globally affect cement concrete structures and historical monuments by making them fade, stained, and dull due to settling of dust particles. Titanium Dioxide (NT) is a naturally occurred photocatalytic material when used with construction materials (CM), offers benefits such as environmental pollution degradation and self-cleaning action. Moreover, its application supplements in enacting the original appearance of the structure for longer times. The main aim of this review study is to summarize the current information available primarily on ‘environmental pollution degradation and self-cleaning effect’. The standard tools for effective summarization of existing data like a) PRISMA analysis, b) VOSviewer, and c) Citespace were used. Further, the major research gaps, environmental impacts, concept of sustainability in relation to utilization of NT and future trends are incorporated. This review successfully concludes the potential application of NT in cement concrete structures for possible reduction of environmental pollution
التَّجريب وتحرّر الكتابة في رواية "باب الشّمس" لإلياس خوري
Elias Khoury’s works offer a distinctive experience in contemporary Arab novelistic creativity. They are characterized by innovation in narrative techniques and a diversity of expressive forms that refresh the paths of creativity and expand the horizons of reading. This research focuses on Khoury’s novel Bab al-Shams (The Gate of the Sun) and aims to clarify the defining features of his narrative style. The study examines elements such as the construction of the story, the narrator's position, the narrative vision, and the language of the text. These aspects are explored through the relationship between history and the traditional plot, the liberation of the narrator’s knowledge from absolute certainty, and how the point of view shapes the storytelling process. Additionally, the research investigates how the writing frees itself from the constraints of memory and opens up to oral discourse. The research is grounded in narratological analysis, aiming to uncover the experimental aspects that define Elias Khoury’s writing. It also explores the artistic qualities that challenge traditional writing conventions, altering the reading contract and, in turn, transforming the reader’s reception of the literary text and their approach to deriving meaning from it
Soft Computing Approaches for Tensile Strength Prediction of Sustainable Concrete Mixtures
Conventional concrete consumes large amounts of cement and aggregates, contributing to environmental degradation. This study investigates eco-friendly concrete mixtures incorporating industrial by-products such as fly ash, ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS), and granite powder to enhance tensile strength and promote sustainable construction. A dataset of 252 experimental samples was analyzed using five statistical models—Linear Regression (LR), Pure Quadratic (PQ), Logarithmic (LOG), Interaction (INT), and Full Quadratic (FQ)—to predict tensile strength based on eight input parameters, including curing time, pull-off layer thickness, and mix ratios. Among the models, the FQ model exhibited the highest accuracy with the lowest residual error, followed by the INT model. Sensitivity analysis identified curing time, pull-off layer thickness, and the cement-to-sand ratio as key parameters affecting tensile strength. Results confirm that optimizing the water-to-cement and cement-to-sand ratios can significantly improve the performance of eco-friendly concrete. Overall, this study demonstrates that incorporating industrial by-products into concrete mixtures effectively balances mechanical performance with environmental sustainability, supporting the transition toward greener construction practices
Producing Sustainable Cement Mortar by Replacing Sand with Waste Bottle Glass
This study investigates the possibility of using waste bottle glass to replace natural sand within cement mortar. This research promotes ecologically conscious and sustainable building methods. The experimental program of the study included several cement mortar mixes that were cast by using two main (c:s) ratios (1:2 and 1:3). Every mix kept a constant 0.5 water/cement ratio. The crushed recycled waste bottle glasses find application in various replacement ratios ranging from 5% to 100%. Important characteristics, including workability, compressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strength, and flexural modulus, are evaluated in this work. The findings show that adding 10–15% glass to 1:2 mixtures significantly increases their ductility and mechanical strength. Furthermore, under ideal circumstances, complete replacement (100%) turned out to be structurally possible. Due to excessive fines and inadequate cohesion, workability decreased in 1:3 mixes, but it increased significantly in low-glass 1:2 mixes. At last, the study results indicate that this work considers a workable solution for using waste bottle glass as a sand replacement in mortar. This method solves problems with disposing of glass and makes us less reliant on natural sand. The proposed mix designs are a good alternative for environmentally friendly material development in the construction industry. They also support the principles of the circular economy
التحليل التداولي للسخرية
The article deals with the concept of irony and attempts to identify it through the points of view on the basis of which the concept arose and, in contrast, how contemporary pragmatics dealt with it from another point of view. The research examines the old and modern definitions of the concept in Western rhetoric, and then addresses the issue of Arabic translation and its related concepts. The research focuses on how each of 'Searle', 'Grice', 'Sperber Wilson' viewed the study of irony from a practical perspective. The pragmatic point of view focuses either on the theory of speech acts as "Searle" saw it, or on the principle of "cooperation" by which "Grice" interpreted the communicative linguistic use between humans, or from a point of view based on the principle of appropriateness, meaning that the speaker in most of his communications proceeds from the appropriateness of his speech to others. In this theory, Sperber and Wilson proposed a different approach to analyzing irony: interpreting the utterance of others carried out by the speaker through the phenomenon of free indirect discourse
النسق المضمر للصراع الهوياتي في رواية "غريب" لمحمد جربوعة
This study aims to reveal the dimensions of the implicit pattern of identity conflict in the novel “Stranger” by the Algerian novelist Mohamed Jarboua, which is one of the distinguished works in presenting the issue of identity, according to the various narrative methods and aesthetic methods it provides. This study attempts to raise a set of questions about the meanings hidden behind the conflicts within the fictional text as it is the product of a social and cultural system, and reveals hidden aspects of the religious conflict between parties of various stripes. It is a call from us to re-advance thought and remove it from fragmented affiliations, and to rearrange the positions of the Algerian individual in order. His concept of religious identity is sound, so that he has a consistent intellectual system based on openness, freedom, and respect for others
