Effect of the fineness of mineral additions on the behavior of low impact environment self-compacting mortars
Get PDFThe aim of this experimental work is to analyze the effect of mineral additions fineness on the hydration of self-compacting mortars, as well as their behavior in the fresh and hardened states. To do this, cement was partially replaced with a fixed rate of 20% for natural pozzolan and 30% for slag. The additions were ground to three different fineness. The results showed that the use of slag is favourable to the formulation of self-compacting mortars, the workability has been considerably improved, the increase in its fineness, meanwhile, reduces the dosage of superplasticizer up to 46%. For the pozzolan, on the other hand, not only was the workability reduced, but the increase in fineness implies an additional demand for superplasticizer up to 16%. Mortars based on additions release less heat, nevertheless, this reduction is accompanied by a drop in compressive strength at a young age. However, the increase in fineness lets to accelerate the initial hydration, inducing additional strength, and to generate heat comparable to that of the reference mortar. Nonetheless, in the case of excessive grinding, the heat release must be taken into account in order to avoid the thermal cracking

Accordingly, they have defied all the obstacles existing to obstruct the movement to prove the feminist identity, seeking to try to bridge the dividing gap. Between the creativity of women and men, but this was not an easy matter for her. She faced major challenges that put her in direct confrontation with the reverse conflict directed at herself. Accordingly, by reading the novel “I Am Not a Man” by Rabiha Haddour, we aim to reveal aesthetics that tend to subsume the totality of female representations and expose masculine authority, based on the description of patriarchal society and extending the events alongside them. Complete with the pace of the narrative presentation within the novel, relying on what the novelist will present regarding the tyranny of patriarchal authority as a guide to generating the course of events and changing them, which leads to an implicit generation of various types of pain and struggles of the female self in its confrontation with the other/male, furnishing a narrative text that tends to represent women. Its struggle in male society also seeks to dismantle the contradictions of authoritarian society from a female perspective
Application of Non-destructive testing methods for asphalt pavement density measurement on the Mai Son–NH45 expressway segment, Vietnam
Get PDFIn the last few years, the development of expressways in Vietnam has been rapid. Asphalt concrete (AC) is the most widely used material for expressway pavement due to its widespread availability and favorable characteristics. The quality of pavement not only influences traffic safety but also impacts the longevity of the expressway. Therefore, quality control (QC) as well as quality assurance (QA) of AC pavement are crucial during construction. In-situ density, which indicates the degree of compaction, must be quickly and accurately predicted for effective QC and QA. Non-destructive testing (NDT) methods offer rapid, accurate, and extensive density measurements. However, NDT has not been widely adopted in Vietnam, leading to doubts among users regarding their operational principles, accuracy of predictions, and reliability. This paper reviews global practices in NDT methods for measuring AC density, offering an in-depth analysis of current techniques and highlighting their strengths, limitations, and relevance to road construction QC. Additionally, it explores the application of NDT equipment, specifically the PaveTracker 2701, on the Mai Son – NH45 expressway, proposing its potential for broader use in Vietnam

Fly ash-cement based concrete for road construction: engineering properties and pavement design
Get PDFThis research investigates various fly ash (FA) levels of 0%, 15%, 25%, and 35% for cement replacement in concrete, specifically for rural roads in southern Vietnam. The slump values of the fresh concrete mixture were kept under 40 mm to maintain workability based on the requirement of rigid pavement. Concrete's mechanical properties, including its elastic modulus, flexural strength, and compressive strength, and the abrasion resistance were examined at three different stages of curing of 7, 28, and 56 days. Results indicated FA may not contribute to strength development as effectively as cement at early stages. However, the strength of concrete achieved the highest value at a 15% FA replacement level at the long-term curing age. The findings indicated that FA could enhance the long-term strength of concrete regarding its flexural and compressive strengths. According to the results of the abrasion resistance test, abrasion loss rises between 3.2 kg/m2 and 4.21 kg/m2 as FA increases. Finally, the calculation results revealed that 15% and 25% of FA replacement for cement can be used in rigid pavement with good performance
