CHARACTER EDUCATION AS THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF SCHOOLING FOR THE FUTURE
Get PDFThis analysis seeks to examine the history and development of moral/character education in America during the 20th century providing structure for the character education movement in today’s educational context. The common denominator and key to character education for the future is community. The concept of community connects the three aforementioned themes and provides a roadmap for better implementation of character education. Careful consideration is given to the interaction and contributions of the school and society in terms of promoting and developing character education. Though there is generous support from politicians, educators, and parents, character education is still somewhat mired by its lack of scope. This examination proposes that current character education proponents can find new frameworks for implementation by observing the history of character education

The basic tenets of federalism touched by a global wind of democracy, quite forceful in some regions of the world, are said to be a field and sweeping across all continents. But in contemporary Nigeria, as in Africa generally, authoritarianism reigns. Federalism critical arguments hold, in spite of its many global ‘bastard’ incarnates which in Nigeria shows as weak, emaciated and a pitiable thing. This paper argues that the body politic of Nigeria is congenially unreceptive to the reproductive seeds of a largely potent federalism. It is this ‘unreceptive environment’ that this paper has characterized as the transfigurations of Nigerian federalism

Pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) is the blending of pedagogical knowledge and content knowledge which must have by teachers in realizing learning objectives. This research aims to showed the implementation pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) of physic teacher based on students learning outcomes on measurement and magnitude material at class of X IA4 SMAN 4 Banda Aceh. Outcomes of this research are: the average value of students learning outcomes is 80 with description the PCK of physic teacher are 95% teacher have understood students of characteristics in learning process, 67% teacher success in planning of learning, 70% teacher success in implementing learning activities, 67% teacher success in evaluating learning outcomes, 75% teacher has been able developing the potentials of the students, and 75% teacher has mastered the science of substances

Get PDFThe implementation of Islamic law in Aceh is included education by organizing Islamic curriculum in each level of education. How is the implementation of the curriculum in a multi-religious society like Banda Aceh? Banda Aceh has implemented a model of Islamic education through Diniyyah which has been implemented in all public schools in Banda Aceh since 2011, started with elementary, junior and senior high school. The results showed that the implementation of Islamic curriculum in Banda Aceh through diniyyah been operating effectively and do not make the non-Muslim communities disrupted. The implementation of Islamic education through Diniyyah did not clash with the main curriculum because it was implemented in the afternoon. So, this should be one of the models of Islamic curriculum implementation in Indonesia, particularly in areas which Muslim is majority without denying the existence of minorities

Some of the students and even the teachers or facilitators may still prefer the print materials which may limit their knowledge, effectiveness and resourcefulness with time. As a result, there is an increase in demand for a more flexible and cost effective means of education through e-education, e-learning or open and distance learning. This has brought a paradigm shift on how people generally view the significance of e-learning for higher education in Philippines
CHARACTER BUILDING OF STUDENTS BY GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING TEACHERS THROUGH GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING SERVICES
Get PDFThis study aims to determine the process and counseling services performed by guidance and counseling (BK) teachers in coaching the students’ character, with the method descriptive qualitative approach. Guidance and counseling are services of assistance given to students to develop their potential, alleviate the problems, and shape the character of the students in accordance with the norms that exist in the neighborhood. The character building of students can be done through guidance and counseling services that are prevention, alleviation and development. The results showed that the process of guidance and counseling was done not in accordance with established procedures and the implementation of observation and data identification to understand the needs within the framework of the preparation of BK program. Besides, the prevention activities were carried out by providing knowledge about the character of the students through information services, content mastery and group counseling as well as involving students in religious activities at school
ART AS A CULTURAL INSTRUMENT: THE ROLE OF ACEHNESE ART IN RESOLVING HORIZONTAL CONFLICT
Get PDFThis article begins with explaining the present problems of Acehnese cultural identity, then articulating how the art is usefully employed to solve those difficulties. Relying on post-colonial theories, I formulate the framework that Acehnese art has significant position to handling current cultural problem of Acehnese society. This work offers a cultural resolution of Acehnese present conflict between traditionalist and modernist Muslims, which are represented by Dayah and Muhammadiyah community in Aceh. It is commonly known that Islam is the pride of the Acehnese. To date, there is, however, no certainty about the nature of Islam in Aceh, as heated debate still exists between traditionalist and modernist Muslims upon the nature of Sharia application in the place. This dispute has generated different extreme perspectives upon seeing themselves in the way to treat their cultural identity. Here we establishes that Acehnese art plays great role in bringing togetherness to different groups of Acehnese society, which results in resolving horizontal conflict of Acehnese society. It shows that Acehnese art accommodates to all of different ness of Acehnese communities and, therefore, raises Acehnese collective consciousness

This study is designed to approach research and development, the research is followed up by studying, investigating, and understanding as well as how the model-based development of English Language learning character develop. The sample of the study consists of 30 teachers who are taken from 8 senior high schools in Banda Aceh that have the same background and characteristics. To produce a model of teaching English in senior high schools in Banda Aceh, the model is conducted systematic steps in the form of the process of action, reflection, evaluation, and innovation. The method used is direct observation, questionnaires, interviews, seminars, and development. Furthermore, this research is expected to produce English language-based learning model character in accordance with the national culture

These changes in student demographics throughout the U.S. have spawned an increased need for awareness by teachers for their students’ needs across curriculums. This study examined attitudes of high school students toward fitness and sports activities taught in physical education, and the perceived effectiveness of their physical education curriculum for improving their fitness and skill levels. This research has focused on providing teachers with multicultural training with the hope that through this training, teachers will convey the importance of respect and sensitivity for all cultures to their students. Overall, successful physical education teachers in the culturally diverse school setting (e.g., urban schools) tend to maintain high expectations for student accomplishment, provide the best possible learning environments, and implement activities that aid increased student involvement
