A Feedback Investigation of Comparing Teacher and Students’ Preferences on Writing Conference in a Novice EFL Writing Class
To enrich students writing aptitude, it is significant to identify the effective feedback process in the language classroom. While the teacher is presenting the appropriate feedback strategies, it is needed to find whether the students prefer what their teacher applied in order to solve their writing problems. The teacher carried out both written and oral (writing conference) in giving feedback, however, this study aims at comparing the teacher and students’ preferences on the teacher feedback practice qualitatively. The students’ writing assignment of 200 words was submitted before the conference schedule. Receiving the written feedback on their writing sheets, the students read and review their teacher feedback. Next, participating in this study, the students were required to contribute on the questionnaire about their preferences during the conference, while the teacher was interviewed. The results show that the students (58%) in the novice writing class preferred on the writing conference. There were 79% students in English writing program would rather work in personal with their teacher which means each of students work one-to-one. Meanwhile, the teacher preferred providing the written feedback, though she realized that the conference might work better on the novice level
The Implementation of Community Empowerment Model as a Harmonization in the Village Traumatized by Terrorism Case
There is a negative stigma toward Islamic boarding school (Pesantren) in the village suspected as supporting radicalism and the place of terrorist linked to bomb-blasting events in Indonesia between 2000-2017. The research used qualitative method of participatory learning action (PLA). Data were collected through interviews, and documentation, observation and focus group discussions and use participatory analysis technique. Informants heve been purposively selected namely community and religious leaders, groups of empowerment, village apparatus and Islamic boarding school management. The research took place in village of Pasuruhan, Cilacap in Central Java and village of Cikoneng, Ciamis in West Java. The results showed the community empowerment model could be mediation of trauma and disharmony through community-based economic activities of village resources potential, namely farming and livestock groups, business groups and cooperative business economy. The model of community empowerment should be developed to perform a comprehensive program ranging from the identification of the problem, the potential of human resources, natural resources and the economy of rural communities up to the analysis solution in the form of extension program, assistance and partnerships

An empowerment program is an activity that has the purpose of developing and improving the quality of life of the community in order to overcome the problems of their lives. Such conditions will provide a great opportunity for the community to improve capabilities in various fields including the economic field. The Empowerment carried out by Mentari BMT as a financial institution refers to the financial screening system given to Muslim family traders. The financial screening is used for financing as an effort to improve the economy of the community. An Empowerment is an activity that can develop and improve the quality of life of traders of Muslim families who are independent and can overcome the problems of their lives. All of these have implications for their improvement and change
Smartphones to Learn English: The Use of Android Applications by Non-English Major Students in West Aceh
Smartphones multi-functionality and practicality features are very promising in helping students to learn English language. Numerous applications related to English enables the students to be exposed to English and learn independently and conveniently outside the classroom. This study explored students own use of android applications to help them in learning English. Specifically, it investigated the types of apps the students use, examined their motives in using the apps, and figured out how the apps were perceived to help in acquiring English. The study was conducted as a qualitative study involving 15 non-English majors students recruited from three different campuses in West Aceh. The data were collected through personal interview and focus group discussion that were transcribed and analyzed by coding and concluding the information into a number of themes. It was found that the students had used a number of android apps, particularly dual language dictionary apps to support their informal English language learning. The apps were considered very helpful as the students could access vocabulary and be exposed to English frequently. Easy access and practical use of apps were perceived as the major advantages benefiting the students in gaining vocabulary and other English learning materials to develop their English language skills
The Implementation of Village Fund Policy in Improving Economy of Village Society: (Case Study at Kuala Sub-district of Nagan Raya District)
This study analyzed the implementation of the village budget allocation policy and the village fund allocation which became second source in village finance revenue. The analysis made is to see how this village fund policy is able to increase the economic potency of the village so that there is equal distribution of income in village society. The method used is qualitative with descriptive analysis approach. The results of this study indicated that the policy of village funds and the allocation of village funds in the case of Kuala Sub-district of Nagan Raya District still cannot increase the potential of the village through utilization village fund, while the potential of the village is very large. This is because the policy of village fund allocation is still directed to infrastructure development or physical potential, besides; there are still obstacles of human resources in managing the village funds. The village which is classified as independent is Simpang Peut village which manage their business through village business entity

Assessing Mediating Effect of Motivation Types on Competition Intervention For Physically Inactive Adults
Competition has been widely used as the behaviour change technique for physical activity intervention, this approach might push someone motivation to achieve the desired behaviour. Therefore, the objective of this study was to assess the mediating effects of the motivation on the competition intervention effectiveness. An experimental research was conducted where participants were randomly allocated into one of two groups (control and competition group). For calculating the motivation types, Behavioural Regulation in Exercise Questionnaire was administered. The results revealed that motivation was not found to mediate the effect of competition intervention
Environmental Education and Ecotourism for Sustainable Life: Literature Study
This study discusses the results of the research related to ecotourism and environmental education in relation to sustainable life. This study is a literature study. Data were obtained from articles and books related to environmental education and ecotourism and were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results show that the purpose of environmental education is to teach and educate the public about natural environment and ecosystems in order to sustain life. Ecotourism and environmental education are inseparable and must be mutually supportive. Ecotourism development requires environmental education as the base, as much as a tourist area can be used as a source for learning about environment for everyone. Environmental education is intended to improve knowledge about environment which encourages attitude and pro-environmental behaviors, as well as having a positive attitude towards ecotourism and environmental conservation. There is a strong positive correlation between environmental knowledge and people\u27s attitudes towards ecotourism. The study shows that there was a positive correlation of 0.70, which confirms that environmental knowledge (EK) positively influences youth’s attitude towards ecotourism (EA)
Project-Based Learning Evaluation from Students’ and Supervisors’ Perspectives: A Qualitative Research at Polytechnic Malaysia
The purpose of this case study was to evaluate the Project-Based Learning that was implemented at the Mechanical Engineering Department in a polytechnic in Malaysia. One kind of constructivism, Project-Based Learning was introduced into the Malaysian polytechnics curriculum regarding to result creative and innovative human resources. This study involved a random sample of 118 students and 43 supervisors in the Mechanical Engineering Department. The study found that both the students and supervisors agreed that Project-Based Learning approach is appropriate for the final project course J5012. In addition, both groups of respondents believed that the supervisors possesed adequate technical knowledge and implemented supervisory duties effectively. Nevertheless, students perceived the module content was hard to understand. The students barely agreed that the machines and equipments at the polytechnic were appropriate for the project. Positively, Polytechnic Kota Bharu should introduce a formal course of Project-Based Learning to the polytechnic system in Malaysia
Creating Inclusive Culture of Elementary Schools: A Case Study in Karangmojo Sub-district, Gunungkidul Regency
Karangmojo Sub-District, Gunungkidul Regency Is One Of The Minus Areas In Various Aspects Of Life With The Highest Number Of Persons With Disabilities In The Special Region Of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. In This Area, The Forerunner Of Inclusive Education In Indonesia Was Born. The Purpose Of This Study Was To Reveal: A) Attitudes Of Teachers Toward Students With Special Needs As A Reflection Of The School\u27s Inclusive Culture, B) Role Of Principals In Creating School Inclusive Culture, And C) School, Parent, And Community Partnership In Promoting Inclusive Culture. Data Collection Techniques Were Interviews, Observation, And Documentation. The Findings Showed That In General The Regular Teacher Showed A Positive Attitude To The Students With Special Needs In The Social Interaction, But Negative Attitudes Could Appear During Classroom Teaching Practices Involving The Presence Of Students With Special Needs. In General, The Support And Ability Of School Principals In Embracing All Parties In The Implementation Of Inclusive Education In Schools Helped To Support Creating Inclusive Culture In Schools. School, Parents, And Community Partnership Also Supported Creating An Inclusive Culture In Schools, But Were Often Constrained By The Social And Economic Conditions Of The Surrounding Community
