    A Qualitative Approach towards the Understanding of Managerial Employees in Islamic Organizations

    The critique on the failure of Islamic organizations to represent the Islamic nature has been pointed towards employees’ competency in understanding the Islamic concept. Hence, this study seeks to delve into the understanding of the employee in Islamic organizations regarding the concept, implementation and challenges in such organizations by employing the qualitative method. The study involves three Islamic organizations namely Islamic Banking, Takaful and Islamic Property Management Company located in three states of the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia i.e. Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang. Managerial employees from the three organizations were interviewed and the outcomes were triangulated with the experts. The findings show understanding among managerial employees in Islamic organizations is appropriate but there are still more that need to be improved

    Living in Harmony: Acculturation of Balinese and Dayak Ngaju Cultures in Basarang Jaya Village, Central Kalimantan

    The transmigrants of Balinese ethnic living in Basarang Jaya Village, Kapuas, Central Kalimantan live harmoniously with the local ethnics (Dayak Ngaju) even though the area ever experienced ethnic riots that took thousands of lives and properties. The objective of this research is to find out the form of the cultural acculturation occurring between Balinese transmigrants with the Dayak Ngaju in Basarang Jaya Village. This research used phenomenology approach. The data were collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observations. The sources of research data are the local chiefs of Balinese and banjar Bali in Basarang Jaya Village and the first group of transmigrants coming to Basarang Jaya Village. The subject of the research was the Balinese transmigrants in Basarang Jaya Village. The object of the research is the way of life, the way of speaking, the food and the religious activities of Bali transmigrants. The research reveals some facts. First, the Balinese transmigrants have made adaptation by imitating how the ethnics of Dayak Ngaju lives. Second, there are changes in the language, way of life, food and religious activities of transmigrants. Third, the harmony between the two ethnics can be maintained by using the religion as the medium of integration

    Abstract Policy on character education has long been applied in Indonesia, with the hope to develop a civilization to be more dignified and become savvy citizens and not experiencing a moral crisis. However, by looking at the reality of the matter at this time, a moral crisis never stops destroying the nation\u27s generation. If not treated immediately it will trigger the development of characters that do not reflect the identity and character of the nation that will result in a weak future generation. Therefore, this study aims to determine the character of the students that is implanted or formed through the school culture in Taruna Nusantara. The research is a qualitative case study research, the data collection techniques used were interviews, observation and documentation. The results showed that the effective character education is the transformation of culture and life in a boarding school that is in Taruna Nusantara High School in Magelang. Character formation of students can be achieved through school\u27s culture as being in the grand of designing character education, because of character as a "moral excellence" or morals in the wake of various policies (virtues) who in turn only has meaning when based on the values that apply in the culture

    The Role of Government in Illegal Fishing Prevention to Increase Fishermen\u27s Economic Welfare in Aceh Province

    This research was conducted in order to assist the government to develop strategies and programs of poverty among fishermen in Aceh province. Aceh certainly has huge marine and fishery potentials, but the problem of fisherman poverty is still a major factor in the value of national poverty. The population of this research was fishermen in Nagan Raya, Pidie Jaya, Lhokseumawe, and Aceh Timur districts. Samples of the Active Fishermen are that society under the supervision of the Fisheries and Panglima Laot office. The results of this study indicate the lack of government\u27s role in preventing illegal fishing hence there are still many illegal fishing cases that occur in the fisherman\u27s area, causing fishermen not to get maximum results and make the fishermen always entangled into poverty conditions. Researchers recommend that the government should be able to solve the problems that exist in the scope of fishermen, especially the problem of illegal fishing, by adding programs that can improve the economic empowerment of fishermen so that fishermen do not just rely on catch but also have other side income so when fishermen do not get the catch expected, fishermen still have a stable income to support their daily life

    This study aims to examine the history of religious imagination and contestation in Nusantara. It will trace the issue of transformation of Islamic thought as religious imagination from Middle East to the region by looking at the network of Muslim scholars, the development of institution, and the distribution of religious ideas in kitabs. I will utilize socio-historical approach as means to understanding the early development of Islamic intellectual. It is said that Aceh as the first place of Islamization process in Nusantara. It can be seen from the early historical facts such as Kingdoms of Peureulak, role of ‘ulama of Pasai, and institution of dayah as place of reproduction of ‘ulama in the region. It is argued that there have been many of anthropological and archaeological evidences that had influenced the early reproduction of Islamic thought in Southeast Asia. In addition, this study will also examine the  current potrait of contestation among Muslim in political landscape in the country. It indicates that the identity of Muslim has to do with the roots of historical narrative in the Nusantara

    The objective of the Export Product Science and Technology Division (IBPE) is to boost the export growth of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME) of rattan handicraft products in Aceh Besar Regency "Kotaraja Rotan" through improved management and product quality. The program also aims to accelerate the transfer of technology and management from STKIP Bina Bangsa Getsempena Banda Aceh as the implementer of IBP to SME "Kotaraja Rotan" as an industrial society as well as developing link and match between STKIP Bina Bangsa Getsempena Banda Aceh, SME, Aceh Besar District Government and large community. The method implemented is to provide assistance to the quality of raw materials, production processes, product quality, production management and marketing, quality of manpower, facilities and finance of SME. The conclusion of the program in this first year is the solution offered has successfully solved the problems faced by partners that are marked with the issuance of business license for partners, the availability of mall tools to guarantee the quality of products concerning the size and shape, availability of production space and good and clean showroom with partner needs. This IbPE program has encouraged the public spirit to be able to produce export products in order to compete in the international market

    This study aims to examine the interests of the actors involved in the policy formulation of land acquisition for the development of Mandalika Resort area in Lombok that caused community opposition reaction, as it will remove them from the land they have occupied for years as their residence and earn a living as farmers. This research used qualitative method of critical paradigm, by determining the informant in snow ball sampling technique. Data collection was done by interview and documentation techniques. Data analysis referred to an interactive model. While the data validity test used data credibility criteria. The results of this research states that the tourism policy by the local government actors and tourism development companies to facilitate business interests or policy capitalization has caused the value in the importance of local communities which has never been taken into account in the determination of local-level policies
