Unveiling Mummy Fiction: Mummy Brides in Late Victorian and Edwardian Literature
Get PDFNo other period has seen more popularity of mummy fiction than the late Victorian and Edwardian era. What is remarkable is that quite a few mummy stories are set in the love romance genre. This is especially the case with works published from the 1880s to 1910s, when British political and imperial power prevailed in Egypt. The stories feature a male character falling in love with a perfectly preserved and fascinating female mummy. In other words, unlike current images of decaying grotesque mummies seeking revenge against those who disturbed their tombs, some mummies in fiction at the turn of the twentieth century were considered as beloved brides in both the literal and metaphorical sense. This paper examines these“ mummy brides” motifs found in several works of the period and consider their characteristics.本稿の関心はミイラを題材にした小説にある。なかでもイギリスがエジプトを保護国化していた時期は，後述のとおり，一般的なイメージとして流通している「復讐するミイラ」と異なった美しい女性ミイラが多く登場する。本稿はとりわけ女性ミイラとのラブ・ロマンスを扱った作品を中心に取り上げて，女性ミイラ・男性主人公・世界観などの分析を試みた。論の性格上，有名作品ひとつを詳しく検討するというより，マイナーなものも含む十編以上のテクストの言及や紹介をしながらその都度見出されたテーマを吟味し，そのテーマに関連する別作品を引き寄せてくるといった累積的な体裁をとっている。そのため論旨が見えにくくなっている恐れがあるので，その弊をいくらかでも救うために以下におおまかな流れを記しておく。まず予備的な考察として，十九〜二十世紀転換期のミイラ受容に関する歴史的背景を見たのち，初期のミイラ作品に関していくつか略述した。そのうち，女性ミイラの登場するテオフィル・ゴーチエの「ミイラの足」を手がかりに，後続作品に進みながら，「おとぎ話」「時間とエジプト問題」「視線」などのテーマについて順次瞥見し，最後に当時の人々にとってどのような魅力が恋愛対象としての女性ミイラにあったのかを論じた。departmental bulletin pape

Get PDF狸の腹鼓といえば，童謡の「証城寺の狸囃子」にでてくる「ぽんぽこ ぽんの ぽん」というリズム感のある歌詞が懐かしく思い出される人が多いと思われる。科学者・随筆家としてよく知られている寺田寅彦も「狸の腹鼓」という随筆を書いている。それは寺田寅彦全集第９巻の「狸の腹鼓」（ 原文はローマ字で書かれていて，タイトルは「Tanukino Haratudumi」）という２ページあまりの小文である。この文中で，『朧月夜に狸が腹鼓を打つと言われているが，音源を突き止めて，本当に狸が腹の太鼓を叩いているのを見たという人は滅多にいない。』ことを取り上げて，『世の中には証拠，少なくとも物質的に証拠のないことを信じている人はいくらでもある。』，『我々の目に見，耳に聞く世界のさまざまもみんな狸の腹鼓と同じで，それらの“もと”を突き止めた人はまだありそうにない。』と述べている。
「狸の腹鼓」という言葉は狂言および囲碁の世界でも使われている。狂言では，雌狸が尼に化けて猟師に殺生をいさめるが，見破られて命乞いに腹鼓を打ち，隙をみて逃げるというあらすじである。囲碁では，「狸の腹つづみ」と称する「妙手」として取り上げられることが多い。
ここでは，「狸が腹鼓を打つ時に発生する音」について，現在入手できる資料等から音の性質や発生メカニズムを突き止めようと試みた。departmental bulletin pape
Status and Role of Public Assistance ―For the Future of‘ Public Assistance Facilities’―
Get PDFEconomic growth in post-war Japan did not completely eliminate poverty among workers. In 2015, the relative poverty rate of Japan was 15.7%. Poverty among workers and their families is severe. Public assistance system is final national system for security of minimum standard of living. When whole system for life problems（ social security） get weekend, task of public assistance, as final system, increases. Without completeness of the system before public assistance, it cannot play the role. This paper clarifies the structure of life problems, and clarifies structure of systems to solve life problems. Then, with pointing to positions of systems and facilities of public assistance, roles of those systems and facilities are indicated. In addition, there will be the referring about social welfare movement and labor movement, to return the burden to public assistance.戦後日本の経済成長は，労働者の貧困を解消したわけでは必ずしもなかった。2015年，日本の相対的貧困率は15.7％に上る。労働者とその家族の貧困は深刻である。生活保護制度は，国民の最低生活保障に対応する最終的な社会システムであるが，生活問題対策システム（社会保障）全体の弱体化は，最終システムたる生活保護に負わされる課題を増大させる。生活保護より前で守るシステムの充実をみなければ，それは役割を果たすことができない。本稿では，生活問題の構造の明確化が図られた上で，生活問題対策・施策の構造が明らかにされる。その上で，生活問題対策全体における生活保護制度と保護施設の位置が示され，その果たすべき役割が明らかにされる。加えて，生活保護に負わされた過重な負担を返上するための社会福祉運動と労働運動の連携について言及される。departmental bulletin pape
