Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) on Zakat Management in Higher Education

The zakat fund given to Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) students has been managed by the Zakat, Sedekah, and Waqf Unit (ZAWAF). ZAWAF has shared crucial information about zakat via a web-based zakat application. However, some students were not well-informed about zakat distribution. The researchers were asked to look into it more deeply. A framework based on Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) will be used to understand people's awareness of zakat management and further help to improve the existing ZAWAF delivery service at UiTM
Political Awareness and Behaviour of Undi18 Cohort: Insights from a survey of Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia
Get PDFThe UNDI18 Bill, which lowered the voting age from 21 to 18 and provided automatic voter registration, was passed in 2019 by the Malaysian Parliament to the applause of many stakeholders. However, concerns have been raised about the readiness of these 18-year-olds to vote, given their limited exposure to political discussions. To address this, this study aimed to (i) explore the political awareness of 18-year-old first-time voters in Malaysia, (ii) investigate their sources of political information, and (iii) examine the relationship between their Malay student background studying in a Malay-based university and their political party and candidate choices. We surveyed 5,586 undergraduate students from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia, using a quantitative research design. Our findings revealed that science stream students were less politically aware than their social science counterparts, and that respondents from the Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies scored the highest. Additionally, social media was the primary source of political information for our respondents. We also found that Malay students studying at a Malay-based university showed strong support for the Malay political leaders which supports the perception that Universiti Teknologi MARA nurtures its undergraduates to be defenders of Malay supremacy. Overall, our study provides valuable insights into the political awareness and behavior of 18-year-old Malaysians, which can inform efforts to engage and educate this demographic in future elections
Learning Writing Online and Online Collaborative Writing
Get PDFOnline collaborative writing views and factors have yet to be discussed despite its ease and popularity in this era. This study examines online collaborative writing and its motivation and demotivation aspects. It also looks into the relationship between learning writing online and online collaborative writing. This quantitative study obtained responses from 123 language learners. The questionnaire consists of 6 sections with 63 items in total. Findings show positive perception and relation towards learning writing online and online collaborative writing. This study shed light on the benefits and limitations of online writing, especially on the teaching and learning aspects.

This study focuses on the concept of high-value culture, which goes hand in hand with the thrust of 'Malaysia Madani' and National Cultural Policy 2021 (DAKEN21). The ethnographic method is applied through an 'inductive phenomenological character' approach involving descriptive research design exploration and case studies. The connection of igal ritual theatre elements and its meaning, high-value culture, and the concept of ‘Malaysia Madani’ will be highlighted to demonstrate the community's well-being and quality of life
Determining User Preferences For Some Natural Astragalus Species Distributed in Ankara
Get PDFThis study applied a photograph-based survey to 130 participants to determine user preferences for 21 different Astragalus taxa with various characteristics distributed in Ankara. A total of 63 images likes were collected and the photographs were categorized. Three different categories were obtained in the confirmatory factor analysis. The differences between the averages of these categories were compared with the one-way ANOVA test, revealing a significant difference between the three categories. As a result, Astragalus anthylloides was identified as the most preferred species
Enhancing Engagement and Learning in Research Methodology: The Research Detective Challenge (RDC)
Get PDFResearch is crucial for knowledge advancement, problem-solving, decision-making, and improving practices. Nonetheless, comprehending research methods can be a daunting task. A survey involving 117 undergraduates found 83.8% showed low interest in the Research Methodology course. Therefore, the objective of this study is to assess and discuss the RDC’s impact on student engagement, aligning with Malaysia's educational goals. Findings illustrate that the integration of Extrinsic Motivation (EM) and Intrinsic Motivation (IM) in gamification lessons are able to boost students' learning engagement. The results directly inform the design of learning activities and guide future research directions
