From User Needs to Cultural Innovation: Design and Evaluation of Intangible Cultural Heritage Products Based on the UCD Method

Amid globalization and growing cultural diversity, the preservation and innovative Design of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) have become key research areas. Based on cultural gene theory and the User-Centered Design (UCD) approach, this study investigates ICH product design and evaluation strategies. Using China's "Mianzhu New Year Pictures" as a case, it employs experimental design and focus group testing to develop a framework integrating user needs with cultural elements. Findings demonstrate that UCD, grounded in cultural gene theory, enhances user satisfaction, cultural identity, and cultural gene transmission, providing a balanced method for cultural preservation and user experience in ICH product design

Influence of Financial Literacy and Military Culture on Soldiers’ Financial Planning, Mediated by Retirement Awareness

This study examines the influence of financial literacy and military culture on the financial planning of Malaysian Armed Forces personnel, with retirement awareness as a mediating factor. Guided by the theory of planned behaviour and the life-cycle consumption model, financial planning is conceptualised as a behavioural outcome shaped by knowledge, attitudes, and military norms. A quantitative cross-sectional design using PLS-SEM is proposed to test these relationships. Results show that both factors significantly predict financial planning, with retirement awareness partially mediating the effects. The study offers insights into MINDEF, LTAT, and AKPK in strengthening soldiers’ financial readiness and retirement planning

Relationship of Religious Personality and Resilience among Muslim Nurses at Hospital Kuala Lumpur

Nurses’ ability to manage stress in workplace is influenced by their level of resilience. This study examined the religious personality and resilience of 404 Muslim nurses at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL). Quantitative data were collected using validated instruments: the MRPI for assessing religious personality and the CD-RISC-25 for measuring resilience. Measurement evaluation in SPSS and AMOS showed an acceptable model fit and reliable constructs. The results revealed a significant positive relationship between religious personality and resilience, emphasizing the need for targeted interventions that can strengthen nurses’ capacity to cope with stress in demanding healthcare environments. &nbsp

Building the next Generation of Entrepreneurs: Assessing the determinants of Malaysian youth entrepreneurship intention

This study aims to identify factors influencing entrepreneurial intentions among Malaysian public university students at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. The second objective is to examine the moderate effect of gender. A total of 357 students participated in this study, selected through a systematic sampling method. Pearson correlation analysis showed that all four independent variables (i.e., attitude, education, financial support, and market availability) had a significant positive relationship with entrepreneurial intentions. Additionally, the results of the hierarchical regression analysis revealed that gender moderates the relationships between attitude, education, and entrepreneurial intention

Painting Batik with Gutta Tamarind: An exploratory study of media, technique, and visual value

This exploratory study examines gutta tamarind made from tamarind seed powder (Tamarindus indica L.) as a resist material on a painted batik. This study uses an art-based research approach to explore its visual potential, suitable media, application methods, and technical challenges. The findings indicate that gutta tamarind works best on fine-pored fabrics, features an easy application technique, and can produce organic visual effects that enhance batik painting motifs. This study concludes that gutta tamarind has considerable promise as an environmentally friendly alternative medium for contemporary batik, enriching artistic approaches based on local materials

Preservation Strategies for Photographic Collections in Tropical Climates: Evaluating practices at Sonobudoyo Museum

This study assesses preservation strategies for photographic collections at the Sonobudoyo Museum in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The museum faces challenges from the tropical climate, including high humidity, mould, and temperature fluctuations, which damage materials. Through observations and interviews, the research identified key issues in current storage and environmental control practices. The findings emphasise the need for affordable, climate-adapted solutions. This study proposes a practical preservation framework tailored to tropical environments, along with recommendations for consistent environmental monitoring. The framework offers insights for other heritage institutions in Southeast Asia to support the long-term preservation of photographic artefacts

Comparison of Structuring Elements for Benign and Malignant Classification in Breast Cancer

A Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CADx) system is a diagnostic tool radiologists use to reduce errors in breast cancer detection. Structuring elements in mathematical morphology could enhance the quality of the images of breast cancer.  It is challenging to find a suitable type of structuring element with an optimal radius.  Hence, this study classifies benign and malignant tumours while utilising square and diamond structuring elements. Mean square error (MSE) evaluates the quality of images that are obtained from noise between the original and segmented images.  The results show that the highest accuracy for structuring elements is for square and diamond values, at 89% and 89.2%, respectively.&nbsp

    IoT-Based Home Health Monitoring System

The project aims to design a system that monitors heart rate, body temperature, and activity, with readings available on a phone, anywhere and anytime. The system used three sensors: a heartbeat sensor, a temperature sensor, and an ECG sensor, which would be interfaced with an Arduino UNO microcontroller, an open-source computer hardware and software platform. The results of the project showed that the 80% accuracy of the vital measurements displayed on Blynk is approaching the exact value, and any abnormal vital measurements would alert the user via a smartphone notification

Enterprise Architecture Challenges in Malaysia’s Public Sector Digital Transformation: Uncovering competency gaps

This study examines the competency-related challenges that enterprise architects face when implementing digital transformation initiatives in the Malaysian public sector. Using Actor-Network Theory (ANT) as a socio-technical lens, it explores interactions between human and non-human actors influencing enterprise architecture (EA) practices. In-depth semi-structured interview with seven enterprise architects from various public sectors, supported by policy document analysis. Thematic analysis using ATLAS. ti identified three key competency challenges: navigating technological change, building and sustaining collaborative networks, and developing and adapting EA competencies. The findings highlight critical technical and collaborative competency gaps that hinder effective EA implementation in public sector digital transformation

Enhancing Cyber Security Employees Ethical Competence with (AI) and Emotional Intelligence (EI) Elements: A survey of literature

Ethical competence is considered a fundamental requirement for the daily practice of cybersecurity professionals. As of now, there is a lack of comprehensive research on ethical competence in cybersecurity organisations. The acquisition of ethical competence skills is imperative for effectively addressing the ethical intricacies and obstacles arising from the advent of advanced technologies and digital transformation in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0). This paper aims to conduct an in-depth survey of the literature on artificial Intelligence and emotional intelligence skills necessary to address both current and future technological demands effectively
