Effectiveness of Entrepreneur Course for Terengganu Women Fishermen's Group (KUNITA)
This article examines the effectiveness of the Entrepreneur Course offered by the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM) to the Terengganu Women Fishermen's Group (KUNITA). The course's goal is to help members of the KUNITA become more knowledgeable and proficient. The courses were organised as an initiative to raise the standard of living for fishermen's communities by enhancing the capacity of women fishermen as economic actors who can provide additional income for their families. 114 KUNITA members participated in this study, which sought to determine the performance level of the entrepreneur course organised by LKIM
Exploring Self-Esteem among Mothers of School-Aged Children in Perak, Malaysia
This study investigates the self-esteem of mothers with school-aged children in Perak, Malaysia, focusing on the impact of education, employment status, and age on self-esteem. Using the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, responses from 444 mothers revealed a moderate level of self-esteem. Mothers with higher levels of education and employment reported significantly higher self-esteem, while age had no notable effect. Many participants expressed self-doubt, reflecting the emotional challenges they faced in balancing their work and family roles. The findings underscore the importance of implementing supportive policies, educational initiatives, and mental health services to address these issues. Researchers recommend conducting further studies to explore changes in maternal self-esteem over time
Understanding Nurses’ Knowledge and Attitudes toward Perioperative Pressure Injury Prevention
This study evaluated operating room nurses’ knowledge and attitudes toward perioperative pressure injury (PI) prevention. Among 211 nurses surveyed using the Pressure Ulcer Knowledge Assessment Tool and Attitude towards Pressure Ulcer Prevention instruments, average knowledge scores were low (31.74%), especially in prevention and etiology, while attitudes were moderately positive (65%). No significant correlation was found between knowledge and attitude, although knowledge varied significantly by ethnicity, education level, and job position. The findings underscore the need for focused training to enhance PI prevention knowledge, suggesting that attitude alone is insufficient. Targeted professional development and structured in-service programs are vital for effective PI preventio
Educational Chatbots in Language Teaching and Learning at Malaysian Universities
Artificial intelligence is reshaping higher education, with chatbots increasingly explored as virtual assistants for language learning. This study investigates Malaysian students' awareness, usage, and expectations of chatbots in tertiary education. A survey of 101 students from Klang Valley institutions across disciplines such as Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), nursing, business, and engineering was conducted. Findings show that although awareness of chatbots is high, their actual use for language learning remains limited. Nevertheless, students strongly expressed interest in using chatbots for grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, and conversational practice. The study suggests that integrating chatbots could promote learner autonomy, instant feedback, and student-centred pedagogy
A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) on Degradation Mechanism in Mechanical Components of CCS Facilities in Malaysian marine environment
Malaysia has committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, with Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) identified as a key strategy. However, CCS infrastructure faces heightened risks of corrosion and material degradation under the tropical marine environment. This review synthesises recent studies on degradation mechanisms, including corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, and fatigue in CCS components. Findings reveal accelerated deterioration of carbon steels, improved resistance of chromium-enriched alloys, and critical impacts of impurities in s-CO₂. Research gaps include limited tropical field data, underdeveloped predictive models, and the absence of Malaysia-specific guidelines. Addressing these issues is vital for a sustainable CCS deployment
Nurse-Led Self-Care Interventions to Improve Quality of Life in Heart Failure Patients: A scoping review
Heart failure (HF) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality, often resulting in repeated hospitalizations and reduced quality of life (QoL). This scoping review examined nurse-led self-care interventions aimed at improving QoL in HF patients. Seven databases were searched using terms related to self-care, HF, nursing interventions, and QoL. From 1,288 records, 15 studies met the inclusion criteria. Interventions such as transitional care, structured education, home visits, and telehealth follow-up improved self-care maintenance, symptom recognition, QoL, and reduced hospital readmissions. Despite positive effects, mixed psychological outcomes and heterogeneous study designs highlight the need for standardized interventions and evaluations
Exploring China-Malaysia Educational Cooperation within the Context of BRI
Under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) framework, many policies and measures to foster international educational cooperation and exchange have been gradually introduced and implemented. This research aims to explore the key points of China-Malaysia bilateral educational cooperation, discover the laws and needs of cooperation, and summarize good experiences and practices under the policy background of the BRI. It will help form a long-term mechanism for bilateral educational cooperation and further improve the quality of education and cultural exchange
Self-regulated Learning Profiles among Engineering Students: A case study
This study addresses a gap in self-regulated learning (SRL) research within Malaysian engineering education. Using the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) data from 320 students (yielding a 63.37% response rate), this study examined SRL profile differences between higher/lower achievers and males/females. Higher achievers demonstrated significantly greater self-efficacy and metacognitive self-regulation. Females reported higher overall SRL than males. Crucially, SRL significantly predicted 53.7% of the CGPA variance. Regression analysis identified self-efficacy (β = .252), metacognitive self-regulation (β = .567), and test anxiety (β =- .113) as key predictors. Future research should explore SRL development factors and intervention efficacy in this population
Exploration of Handwriting Issues among Specific Learning Disorder Children in Primary School in Malaysia from Teachers' Perspectives
Handwriting is vital for academic success, yet many children with specific learning disorders struggle with it. This study examined handwriting challenges in Malaysian primary schools through teachers’ lived experiences. Using a phenomenological design, seven teachers from a special education program in Pulau Pinang were interviewed. Thematic analysis highlighted three subthemes: students’ handwriting difficulties, lack of parental support at home, and the impact of these challenges on learning. Findings emphasise the need for tailored interventions and stronger home-school collaboration to improve handwriting outcomes and promote educational inclusion for children with specific learning disorders
Theory-based Reflective Practice for Intensive Care Unit Nurses: A study protocol
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses are exposed to stressful environments, which can lead to diminished professional fulfilment and a lower quality of life. Reflective practice is a valuable tool for coping strategy but remains underexplored. This study aims to determine the effects of an eight-week theory-based reflective practice intervention structured using C-A-R-E framework on stress levels, professional fulfilment and quality of life among ICU nurses. This quasi-experimental study involves 100 ICU nurses from Klang Valley public hospitals. The data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics, multiple linear regression and mixed-design ANOVA
