An Uphill Battle: A systematic literature review on the challenges of addressing Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) in the developing countries
Get PDFDespite worldwide concern over child sexual abuse (CSA), studies on barriers of combating it are still limited. Most studies focusing on the contributing factors particularly from the societal perspectives. Hence this article presents a systematic literature review on challenges in addressing CSA in the context of developing countries in Asia. Using PRISMA protocol, 17 articles from 2017 till present were selected. Several themes emerged leading to the conceptualization of the challenges in dealing with CSA which include taboo and social stigma, poverty and economic vulnerability, witnesses of the legal system, lack of knowledge and institutional and structural challenges
Fake News and Covid-19: Malaysian legal perspective
Get PDFThe outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has been accompanied by fake news which is as dangerous as the virus itself. Many countries have promulgated laws to combat fake news including Malaysia. This paper considered the criteria for fake news offences and the regulatory measures and non-regulatory measures put in place to counter fake news in Malaysia. Employing a doctrinal methodology, this article analyses the relevant legislations and case laws for offences and punishments with regards to fake news Based on the findings, the paper proposes an amendment in the relevant laws to combat fake news in Malaysia

Perception and Possibilities of the Malaysian Commission of the Registry of Societies Establishment
Get PDFThis study explores how autonomy, authority, accountability, and ability impact the perception of the proposed Malaysian Commission of the Registry of Societies (SPPM) among NGOs in Malaysia. This study fills the gap in the limited research on establishing the Commission from the perspective of the NGOs. A survey was administered to 2229 individuals and analysed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The study finds that autonomy and authority positively influence perception, while accountability and ability have an insignificant relationship. The study's findings will aid policymakers, government officials, and stakeholders in establishing and managing the SPPM
Role of Social Demography Factors in Economic Growth and Sustainability Models: Evidence from selected emerging economies
Get PDFA country’s social demography characteristics are described by population dynamics and technology-based lifestyle changes. Such unique elements may correlate with economic growth and sustainability. In this study, a static panel data model analysis for economic growth and sustainable development of ten emerging economies was presented. Estimation results revealed that social demography factors exhibited a negative significant impact in both economic models, relative to the technological influence. Therefore, effective macroeconomic policies should be meticulously designed against changing demographic trends. Conclusively, by delivering focused public services to the urban area, more liveable cities will emerge to empower human capital development
Blended Learning Environment in EFL Class: Role of face-to-face and online learning
Get PDFBlended learning has become a promising alternative to provide equitable access to quality learning environment. This mixed-method study investigated EFL learners’ perceptions of blended learning environment (BLE) in College English. It aims to identify the roles of F2F and online components, learners’ preference for the learning mode, and seek suggestions for improvement of BLE for College English. The study found that the students preferred the blended learning mode although the majority favoured F2F learning over online learning. Both F2F and online component have their advantageous roles. Effective integration and interaction hold the key to successful BLE.  
A Pilot Study on Lean Practice Implementation according to the Sizes and Ages of the Companies
Get PDFThe purpose of this paper is to address the accompanying lean manufacturing implementation barrier in terms of the sizes and ages of the companies. The 148 wood and furniture companies in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor were selected for the pilot research determinations. Smaller companies account for slightly more than 80% of newly founded and expanding wood and furniture industries, with 60% implementing lean practices. The practical implications indicate that the Malaysian furniture sector will have a promising future, with the number of medium-sized plants anticipated to increase in the upcoming years due to the increase in new and emerging businesses
Dimensional Impact of Emotional Intelligence on Creativity and Innovation in Malaysia's Multigenerational Workforce
Get PDFEmployers must cultivate a conducive environment for employee innovation and productivity. This study focused on the impact of emotional intelligence (EI) on creativity and innovation among multi-generational employees in Kuala Lumpur's financial sector. 132 employees participated, with results analyzed using SPSS and SmartPls version 4. Findings reveal that only the Use of Emotions (UOE) dimension significantly boosts creativity, while age moderates the link between creativity and innovation. This study offers insights valuable for recruitment, training, and organizational management. It contributes fresh perspectives to existing knowledge, marking the first of its kind in this context.

Challenges Faced by Women in Progressing Their Career in the Tourism Industry in Maldives
Get PDFThis research conducted in the Maldives highlights the challenges faced by local women in advancing their careers in the tourism industry. It reveals disparities in labour force participation and salaries between men and women, emphasizing societal views and obstacles hindering women's progression. Through qualitative methods and interviews with local women, this research identifies socio-cultural perceptions, work environment, skills, training, mentorship, and work-life balance as key barriers. Recommendations include shifting perspectives, implementing inclusive policies, ensuring safety, and increasing women's representation in decision-making roles to enhance women’s participation in the tourism sector. This research contributes to the limited literature on women's career challenges
