Maternal Stress and Coping in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: A mixed-method study in Northern Malaysia
Get PDFMaternal stress in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) is a significant concern affecting both mothers and infant outcomes. This study examined stress levels and coping strategies among mothers of premature infants in northern Malaysia using a mixed-method explanatory sequential design. A total of 383 mothers were surveyed with the Parental Stressor Scale: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (PSS: NICU) and Brief COPE, followed by interviews with 14 participants. Findings showed moderate stress (M = 2.16, SD = 0.92), highest in parental role alteration. Age and education were significantly associated with stress, and mothers relied mainly on emotional, spiritual, and social coping
Development and Efficacy of the Code Blue Simulation (CBS) Program in improving the Code Blue Response Time among Nurses
Get PDFBackground: Managing cardiorespiratory arrest is both high-pressure and vital; therefore, a Code Blue Simulation (CBS) program was designed to enhance response performance. Significance: Structured CBS training strengthens clinical judgment and critical thinking skills. Objectives: To assess the effectiveness of the CBS program. Methods: A mixed-method sequential explanatory approach was employed at Gleneagles JPMC, Brunei Darussalam. Limitation: The study was limited to a single institution, Gleneagles JPMC. Findings: Results indicated a significant positive relationship between participation in the CBS program and improved performance outcomes (p < 0.05). Implication: The program enhances both clinical performance and participant confidence, potentially improving patient survival and outcomes
Analysis of Factors causing Work Accidents in the Production Process at the Blitar Plywood Factory
Get PDFThis study analyses the factors causing work accidents of 89 workers in the production process of the Plywood factory. Using a quantitative, analytical observational study with a cross-sectional approach. The study revealed a significant relationship between knowledge of PPE and workplace accidents in plywood factories (ρ = 0.027). Meanwhile, other variables like education level, age, gender, and length of service did not have a significant relationship with workplace accidents. This study was focused on worker behaviour, so it did not examine environmental and equipment factors. The results of this study can be used to improve the socialisation of using PPE

Meaning of Exaggeration: Visual elements in contemporary Chinese painting
Get PDFIn recent years, contemporary Chinese arts have developed rapidly, with the visual element becoming a research focus. This study employs qualitative methods, including interviews with five artists and analysis of six works by three renowned artists, using Panofsky's iconographic theory and thematic analysis. It finds that exaggeration is a key tool in contemporary Chinese painting, enhancing visual impact, conveying emotions and ideas, and reflecting on society, environment, and culture. This research offers a new perspective, contributing to cultural studies and arts criticism

Get PDFThis study develops a conceptual framework of a Mediation Model for anthropomorphic 3D avatar prototypes with manipulation on nominal anonymity to assess undergraduate TVET students’ engagement. This framework addresses six conditions of anthropomorphic avatars with two nominal anonymity manipulations. Seven propositions are developed for the mediation model: one examines the impact of the relationship between anthropomorphic 3D avatars and nominal anonymity on student engagement, while the other six examine the mediating effect of social presence, enjoyment and cognitive burden on the relationship. This study offers insight into mitigating the negative impact on student engagement by observing other variables

The instrument identifies different types of museum visitors and categorises art and design educators at Muzium Negara into five personas: i. Recharger, ii. Professional/Hobbyist, iii. Explorer, iv. Experience Seeker and v. Facilitator, derived from Falk's museum visitor types. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to understand how these personas influence engagement in enriching informal art education. The thematic study reveals PIIN's effectiveness as a service design tool. It highlights its potential to enhance visitor engagement and informal education impact, offering personalised recommendations for museum professionals and future research
Shrinking Middle: Assessing financial vulnerability among malaysia’s M40 households
Get PDFMalaysia’s M40 group, traditionally viewed as economically stable, is increasingly vulnerable to financial pressures due to rising living costs, high household debt, and stagnant real wage growth. This paper examines the structural, behavioural, and policy-related determinants of M40 financial fragility by integrating household finance theory, behavioural economics, and the financial resilience framework. A conceptual model is proposed linking economic pressure, financial behaviour, resilience, and policy support. The findings highlight the growing risk of downward mobility among M40 households and emphasise the need for targeted social protection, behaviour-oriented financial literacy, and stronger institutional reforms to protect Malaysia’s shrinking middle class
A Comprehensive Model for Understanding the Emotional Strain on Caregivers of Children with Cancer in Malaysia
Get PDFParents of children with cancer face significant emotional challenges that impact their well-being. This study examines the emotional difficulties experienced by parents during their child's cancer treatment using a Design and Development Research approach. Semi-structured interviews with nine parents identified 44 emotional factors which were systematically refined into a final model consisting of 28 components through expert review by Interpretive Structural Modelling and the Fuzzy Delphi Method. The findings highlight the need for structured emotional support, counseling interventions and effective communication from healthcare providers. The study provides an evidence-based framework for psychosocial support services in pediatric oncology setting
Satisfied but Strained? Limits of job satisfaction in safeguarding mental health offshore oil & gas employees in Malaysia
Get PDFThis study explores the impact of job satisfaction on the mental health of 364 offshore oil and gas (O&G) employees in Malaysia. Using PLS-SEM, results show that job satisfaction reduces anxiety, emotional exhaustion, and psychological distress by fostering purpose and organizational belonging. However, its protective effect is constrained by structural factors such as job insecurity, organizational hierarchy, and mental health stigma. While supportive supervision and role clarity offer partial relief, a rigid work culture and limited psychological safety weaken this effect. The findings underscore the need to integrate job satisfaction into broader systemic efforts to improve offshore psychological well-being
