Reconstructing Bouguereau in Indonesia: Technical deconstruction through reconstructive practice in cross-cultural art education
Get PDFThis practice-based research explores the reconstruction of Bouguereau’s academic painting technique (Head of a Young Girl, 1898) within Indonesian studio conditions. Rather than replication, reconstruction serves as technical deconstruction, exposing cultural assumptions embedded within supposedly universal artistic methods. Through systematic documentation of material adaptations, environmental modifications, and anatomical translations required for Indonesian contexts, this research reveals how artistic knowledge transforms through cross-cultural transmission. Conducted in Yogyakarta’s hybrid art education system, the research findings contribute to cross-cultural art education and the theoretical understanding of how artistic techniques function as culturally situated knowledge systems rather than neutral technical skills
Revisiting Merti Kali Code in Yogyakarta as a Production of Cultural Space, Citizen Aesthetic Practice, and Collective Awareness
Get PDFMerti Kali Code (MKC) in Yogyakarta is a cultural practice deeply rooted in ecological and social awareness within an urban context. This qualitative-descriptive case study explores the significance of MKC for riverside communities and its broader implications for Yogyakarta’s urban landscape, with particular attention to the formation of cultural spaces, citizens’ aesthetic expressions, and the cultivation of collective environmental consciousness. Through visual documentation, experiential observation, literary analysis, and media-based sources, the study reveals that MKC not only strengthens community engagement but also fosters shared ecological reflection and a sense of place. These characteristics position MKC as a promising educational model for community-driven cultural initiatives and environmentally responsive urban practices
Perception of Students and Alumni on Technical and Vocational (TVET) Program as a Skilled Workforce Scheme and Entrepreneurship
Get PDFResearch has shown that TVET provides a number of advantages. It is crucial to evaluate TVET's curriculum and career perspectives to understand how to manage work-based learning strategically and efficiently. This study uses a qualitative method, such as in-depth interviews, to learn how respondents felt about TVET. As a result, the research confirms the importance of the strategic efficiency of a work-based learning style, which relates to students' and alumni's perception of TVET as a potential skilled workforce scheme and entrepreneurship capability. The study reflects the latest position of effected group in non-intensive industrial and medium-income states
Fuzzy Delphi Method Identifies Key Training Approaches in the Parent-Implemented Intervention Model for Autism
Get PDFEarly, family-centred support is crucial for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as social communication and behaviour challenges could last forever. Although structured training is still scarce, the Parent-Implemented Interventions approach presents a promising means of empowering parents. This study applied the Fuzzy Delphi Method to get the expert agreement consensus on nine core training approach elements. Family Capacity-Building and Integrated Coaching are emerging as top priorities from all elements. These insights set the baseline for an evidence-based parent training model. Its long-term effects and adaptability to families with multicultural and multilingual backgrounds should be investigated in future studies
Tackling Bullying through Teacher and Peer Connectedness in Early Education
Get PDFBullying in preschools negatively impacts children’s well-being and academic development. There are several factors that lead to students’ bullying cases including the negative relationships in the family and community. This study examines how positive relationships act as protective factors against bullying, emphasizing teacher-student and peer connectedness. Using the Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) and Modified Nominal Group Technique (MNGT), the perspectives of 11 experts and 21 teachers from Islamic early education background were analyzed. Findings revealed stronger consensus on the importance of teacher-student relationships, with a (d) value of 0.049 and 98.9% agreement through FDM and 92.1% from MNGT participant. Strengthening these relationships fosters a supportive preschool environment that enhances social-emotional learning and significantly reduces the risk of behavioral issues, including bullying
Commercial Shop Price Assessment: Comparing Machine Learning and Ordinary Least Squares for improved accuracy
No full textThis study compares the predictive performance of OLS and five ML algorithms in valuing commercial shop properties using 2,480 transactions from Kuala Lumpur from 2013 to 2023. While OLS showed limited predictive power, the Random Forest algorithm, applied with log-transformed target variables, achieved superior accuracy (R² = 0.9974, RMSE = 0.03, MAPE = 0.02%). These findings support the use of machine learning as a reliable and efficient alternative for property valuation, offering enhanced precision and scalability in commercial real estate assessment

Innovative practices like pre-packing, appointments, and eco-packaging help address these gaps. Culturally sensitive approaches ensure its relevance to the Malaysian context. This study seeks to strengthen inclusive education by equipping counselors to manage autistic students’ behavior, promoting successful integration into mainstream educational settings
From Silence to Spotlight: Energizing classrooms with parliamentary debates
Get PDFIn the evolving technological era, traditional teaching methods often limit student engagement and comprehension. Educators face challenges like declining attention and participation in teacher-centered classrooms. This study examines mini-parliamentary debates to boost engagement and comprehension among students. Using open-ended questionnaires and Padlet reflections, it gathers student perspectives and course experiences. Findings show that debates significantly enhance learning outcomes, increasing participation and motivation. Students value this approach, which fosters critical thinking and active involvement. The study emphasizes the need for continuous pedagogical refinement to address evolving educational challenges and improve teaching effectiveness
Creating a Competency Domain Index: Enhancing assessment for online programming and electronic design for lower secondary school
Get PDFThis study develops a Competency Domain Index (CDI) to enhance the assessment of online programming and electronic design for lower secondary schools in Malaysia. Conducted in two phases, the first identifies relevant competencies using the Nominal Group Technique (NGT), while the second develops the CDI with expert reviews. Results show over 70% expert consensus across all domains. The proposed CDI employs a spider web chart to visualise competencies, which are categorised according to Bloom’s taxonomy of cognitive levels, using normalised scores. Future work will focus on validating the CDI in schools to ensure its effectiveness and applicability
