Enhancing Understanding of Riba in Islamic Finance: An empirical study of a gaming intervention
Get PDFIn this paper, a card game called "Name the Riba Transaction!©” is introduced and used to enhance understanding of Islamic finance principles. Despite the rapid growth of the Islamic finance industry (15-20% annually), a knowledge gap persists among consumers regarding its core tenets. This paper aims to intervene and then gauge the experience and performance of players after they participate. Players are introduced to riba (interest), a prohibited element in Islamic finance, through an engaging and interactive game. Preliminary findings found that players' understanding of riba improved after playing the game, indicating its potential as an educational tool

Get PDFThe World Health Organization declared the rapid spread of the new coronavirus as a global pandemic in 2020, prompting governments worldwide to implement lockdown policies and behavioural changes. This study used the database to examine the impact of one-time government grants on women employees, auditor tenure, and audit committees’ independence in Malaysian and Singaporean listed companies. The findings indicated higher concern levels in Singapore compared to in Malaysia. This study aimed to provide insights into how government financial interventions could enhance the economic resilience of listed companies post-pandemic, with grants showing significant impacts on women employees and audit committees’ independence

A Mass Customization furniture production method is established in which a combination of unit modules is composed of a combination of furniture. Exploring Social Entrepreneurship among Disabled Entrepreneurs: A model for empowering people with disabilities
Get PDFEmployment challenges for People with Disabilities (PWD) persist globally, including in Malaysia. This study investigates the potential of social entrepreneurship as a solution, focusing on the contributions of disabled entrepreneurs to their communities and society. A qualitative approach, utilizing semi- structured interviews with ten informants, was employed, and data were analyzed using Atlas. Ti. Findings reveal that social entrepreneurship positively impacts both PWDs and their broader social environments. The study emphasizes the importance of promoting social entrepreneurship among PWDs and introduces the Social Entrepreneur with Disability Model as a framework to enhance empowerment and inclusion

Get PDFMusical theatre is a powerful tool for social change, engaging audiences emotionally with critical issues. This study examines Muzikal Nutrisi Cinta Ibu, a theatrical production promoting breastfeeding awareness by depicting mothers’ struggles in balancing work, family, and societal expectations. Using a qualitative approach, it analyses the script, lyrics, character development, and audience responses. Findings reveal that musical theatre fosters empathy and engagement more effectively than traditional campaigns. By examining workplace policies, cultural taboos, and misinformation, the production advocates for a supportive breastfeeding environment, illustrating the potential of the performing arts in public health communication and social advocacy
Halal Brand Awareness and Halal Destination Brand Equity of Homestay in Selangor
Get PDFUnderstanding the relationship between brand awareness and brand equity becomes crucial as halal tourism expands, particularly in Selangor with its cultural heritage. This study uses meta-analysis to investigate how halal principles affect brand equity among homestay providers. It analyses how these providers’ knowledge and behaviours influence Selangor's reputation as a halal-friendly destination. The findings provide guidelines for tourism stakeholders to increase halal awareness and enhance halal destination brand equity through strategic marketing, assisting providers to improve their halal image and understand travellers’ preferences. The study aims to promote sustainable halal tourism and inclusive of cultural travel experiences throughout Selangor and beyond
Online Purchase Intention of Personal Luxury Goods and Mediating Role of Consumer Trust
No full textConsumer trust is crucial in online purchase decisions, particularly for luxury goods. The study aim is to analyze how brand reputation and online reviews influence consumer trust and the intention to purchase personal luxury goods online. Based on 214 responses from consumers in Malaysia, the study investigates the influence of brand reputation and online reviews on consumer trust and consumers’ online purchase intention. The results from PLS-SEM show a significant influence of these factors on consumer trust in online purchases. However, direct effects on purchase intention are not significant. Meanwhile, consumer trust confirms its role as mediator
