Video-based Learning for Hospitalized Students: Bridging educational gaps and emotional needs

    Get PDF
Hospitalization disrupts students’ academic progress and social engagement, often leading to educational setbacks and emotional distress. This paper explores how video-based learning can mitigate these challenges by offering accessible, personalized, and emotionally resonant educational experiences. Drawing on recent research in educational technology, health education, and inclusive pedagogy, we argue that video-based instruction supports cognitive engagement, social connection, and self-paced recovery for hospitalized learners

Determinants of Food Insecurity among University Students: A case study of UiTM Shah Alam

    Get PDF
Food insecurity is a growing concern among Malaysian university students, particularly at UiTM Shah Alam, where rising costs and limited support exacerbate vulnerability. This study investigates the relationship between financial literacy, time constraints, food behaviour, and food insecurity through a cross-sectional survey of 400 students, analysed using descriptive and Pearson correlation methods. Findings reveal moderate food insecurity, negatively correlated with financial literacy and household support, but positively linked to time constraints and poor food behaviour. Recommendations include implementing structured financial literacy programs, affordable nutrition initiatives, and time management support to enhance student well-being, food access, and academic performance

Pathways to Sustainable Development of Mutual Support Elderly Care (MSEC) in Rural China

    Get PDF
This study, via a comparative qualitative analysis of five typical Chinese villages, explores sustainable pathways for rural mutual support elderly care. It identifies addressing integrated "healthcare and elderly care" as crucial. Achieving sustainability requires strengthening village collective economic organizations' core role, building a multi-stakeholder governance model integrating government, society, collective, and family, and designing hybrid mechanisms blending local trust with modern incentives. Policies should empower village collectives, and practice should prioritize establishing village-level health and elderly care service stations to systematically transition rural elderly care from traditional mutual aid to institutionally supported models

Corruption In-between: Complexity of formal institutions and informal cultural norms

    Get PDF
This paper examines the presence of corruption in Malaysia’s civil service despite formal reforms such as the Whistleblower Protection Act (WPA) 2010 and the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) 2019-2024. The literature posits that cultural norms, such as deference to authority and group conformity, play a critical yet understudied role. Using New Institutional Theory (NIT), this paper conceptually explores the interplay between formal institutions and unspoken cultural routines. Through thematic analysis of existing literature, NIT highlights how cultural norms may inadvertently sustain corruption, advocating for greater integration of cultural perspectives in institutional reform strategies for effective governance

Pedagogy in Practice: Integrating theory and studio-based learning in contemporary fine art education

    Get PDF
This paper examines the integration of theoretical frameworks and studio-based practice in contemporary fine art education. Moving beyond the traditional separation of lectures and studio production, it proposes a holistic pedagogy that positions the studio as a site of inquiry, reflection, and critical engagement. Drawing on constructivism, experiential learning, and reflective practice, the paper presents a case-based approach through the “Art & Identity” studio module. Findings suggest that embedding theory within studio processes enhances students' critical thinking, artistic authorship, and conceptual clarity, while also highlighting structural challenges in curriculum design

Impact of Halal Awareness on Non-Muslim Employees in a Certified Halal Food Company: A case study

    Get PDF
Malaysia is a multiracial nation where people of diverse ethnicities live in harmony. With Islam as the official religion, halal aspects strongly influence various sectors, particularly food and beverages. This study aims to examine the level of halal awareness among non-Muslim employees in a halal-certified food company. Using purposive and snowball sampling, data from 22 respondents were analysed with NVivo 12. Findings indicate that non-Muslim employees show positive awareness, understanding, and commitment toward halal requirements. The study also highlights their comprehension of halal implementation in food companies, reflecting promising engagement in ensuring compliance and maintaining halal integrity

Consumer Perspectives on the Exterior Design Transition from Internal Combustion Engines to Electric Vehicles in Malaysia

    Get PDF
The adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in Malaysia faces barriers such as limited charging infrastructure, high import taxes, inadequate policy support, and cost-ineffective design. This study explores how driving experiences, personal interests, social influences, environmental concerns, and government policies shape consumer intent to transition from internal combustion engines (ICEs) to EVs, with emphasis on exterior design as a transformative factor. Findings highlight the interplay of functional, aesthetic, and socio-cultural aspects that shape consumer behaviour. The study contributes insights for policymakers and industry stakeholders to foster EV adoption, aligning with Malaysia’s sustainability goals and global mobility trend

A Web-based GIS Application for Water Transmission Pipeline Construction Planning Projects in Malaysia using the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Framework

    Get PDF
This study develops and evaluates a GIS-based web system for water transmission pipeline construction planning in Kelantan. It emphasises comprehensive planning, regulatory compliance, and enterprise GIS adoption to enhance safety. Using the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), the study involved data collection from industry professionals, user requirement analysis, system testing, and deployment. The system improves visualisation, integrates multiple projects, and supports decision-making. Key features include a user-friendly interface, bookmarks, legend customisation, attribute table interaction, and project summaries. The findings demonstrate the strong potential of GIS web systems to improve efficiency, collaboration, and overall outcomes in infrastructure project management

Enhancing Zakat Collection Forecasting using Time Series Analysis

    Get PDF
Zakat institutions face a major challenge: the lack of a reliable framework to analyze zakat collection trends. To address this, the study employs Holt-Winters and ARIMA models on 72 monthly observations of MAIK collections from January 2017 to December 2022, with a 70:30 train-test split. The data shows a clear upward trend and seasonality, confirmed by ADF tests and correlograms. Evaluation using MSE, RMSE, and MAPE shows that ARIMA(0,0,1)(0,1,1)12 outperforms other models in forecasting zakat collection. In 2024, zakat is projected to reach RM228 million, aiding MAIK’s strategic financial planning

Towards Sustainable Mobility: Willingness to shift to public transport in Peninsular Malaysia

    No full text
Urban traffic congestion in Malaysia leads to longer travel times, higher emissions, and economic losses. Despite policies promoting public transport, usage remains low. This study examines commuters’ willingness to transition to public transport in Peninsular Malaysia using a mixed-methods approach that combines questionnaires and interviews. Findings reveal a generally low willingness to shift from private vehicles, influenced by demographic factors such as gender, age, occupation, and region. Understanding these patterns is essential for policymakers to design effective strategies that promote sustainable mobility and reduce reliance on private vehicles. &nbsp
