Organisational Resilience Building in Small and Micro Enterprises under the VUCA Environment

    Get PDF
Small and micro enterprises (SMEs) encounter big blows while operating in VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity) environment as a result of their resource constrains and external dependencies. This study build a conceptual model that links organized performance to the elements of external environmental factors, internal resources, resilience capabilities, and the contribution of resilience building to SMEs. From systematically reviewing literature on VUCA and organisational resilience theories, the model specifies the pathways of how SMEs adapt and thrive in continuously changing (VUCA) conditions

Agricultural Exports, Agricultural Methane Emissions, and Food Security in Malaysia: Insights from ARDL and Granger Causality Analysis

    Get PDF
This study examines the relationship between Malaysia’s food security, agricultural exports, agricultural methane emissions, agricultural land use, and energy supply from 1990 to 2020. Applying ARDL, variance decomposition, and impulse response analysis, the findings reveal a significant long-term positive impact of all determinants on food security. These findings underscore the need for integrated policies that balance land protection, renewable energy, and export strategies to enhance Malaysia’s sustainable and resilient food security framework

    Get PDF
The aim of this study was to examine the effects of 360° titanium core strength exercises ® on novice swing speed. All participants completed before and after use of the PRGR device.Statistical analysis using independent sample t-Tests demonstrated significant effects, with the intervention group showing significantly higher Swing Speed in the post-test compared to the COG (IG post-test: M=78.65, SD=16.37; COG post-test: M=64.00, SD=19.77; t(38) = 4.504, p < 0.05). There was a significant in Swing Speed between pre (M=60.20, SD=9.87) and post (M=78.65, SD=16.37) in the IG (t(19) = -7.074, p < 0.05). In contrast, the COG did not show significant differences in Swing Speed (pre:M=43.00, SD=13.10;post: M=46.55, SD=9.29; t(19) = -1.976, p > 0.05)

Magombok: Reimagining traditional performance (ritual-theater) for heritage sustainability

    Get PDF
The Magombok ritual, a traditional healing practice of the Bajau Laut community in Semporna, Sabah, stands at a critical juncture. Modernization's relentless march has eroded traditional beliefs and lifestyles, placing this cultural heritage on the brink of extinction. The community finds itself torn between the ancient pagan beliefs of their ancestors and the tenets of Islam, the dominant religion, creating a complex challenge for the ritual's survival. Simultaneously, Sabah's traditional theatres grapple with their own set of problems, often confined to conceptual stages or limited to social dramas, hindering their full potential. This research delves into the possibility of transforming the Magombok ritual into a vibrant traditional theatre performance, drawing upon the concepts of liminal and liminality. Inspired by Richard Schechner's performance theory and Victor Turner's ritual theory, the study seeks to bridge the gap between ritual and theatre. By combining the four universal characteristics of performance with the four perspectives of ritual, the research aims to establish a pathway for the ritual's successful transformation into a theatrical form. This transformation is envisioned as a means of empowering the local ethnic identity, providing a platform for cultural expression and preservation. The research further proposes practical methods and processes for transforming ritual performances into theatrical productions. This integrated approach offers an alternative strategy for safeguarding and sustaining the ethnic traditional cultural heritage. Beyond mere preservation, the transformation process has the potential to shape the future of traditional Sabah theatre performances, enriching the state's artistic landscape. The theatrical adaptation of Magombok holds immense promise as a cultural tourism product, attracting visitors to experience the unique traditions of Semporna. This, in turn, can bolster the socio-economic well-being of the local ethnic group, fostering a sense of pride and cultural ownership. The transformation of Magombok into a captivating theatre performance offers a multifaceted solution, ensuring the survival of a cherished tradition while enriching the cultural and economic fabric of Sabah.   Keywords: Magombok Rituals; Heritage Preservation; Liminal; Sabah Traditional Theate

"The Missing Link” Teachers’ Knowledge and Application of Debriefing Practices: A Nominal Group Technique approach

    Get PDF
This study utilizes the Nominal Group Technique (NGT) to identify gaps in Malaysian teachers' knowledge of the debriefing process, a vital pedagogical tool for enhancing student learning. Findings indicate that while 90.48% of educators understand debriefing goals, only 66.67% feel adequately trained, highlighting a critical need for professional development. Additionally, 95.24% believe debriefing improves student comprehension and critical thinking. This disconnect between understanding and practice underscores the significance of targeted training and institutional support. Thus, further research is recommended to explore effective training modules, ultimately aiming to enhance the effectiveness of debriefing and improve educational outcomes
