Spatial Affordances of Chinese Kindergarten Classrooms for Children’s Immediate Actions in Free Play Session

    Get PDF
Early childhood is widely regarded as a critical period during which the foundations of development are established. This study aims to examine how physical environmental features influence Chinese children’s immediate actions, both individually and socially, as well as their awareness of classroom space. The observation involved 73 children (45.2% girls) from three same-age classes in a typical public kindergarten in Nanchang, China. A novel extended taxonomy of spatial affordance was proposed to measure children’s ongoing actions and its influential environmental features. Future studies should further investigate the nexus between children’s continuous play behavior and actions within the classroom environment

Experts Validation on Competence Index for Teaching Librarians in Academic Libraries in Higher Education: Content Validity Index (CVI) approach

    Get PDF
This study uses the CVI approach to evaluate the content validity of a competence index designed for teaching librarians in academic libraries, employing the CVI approach. A purposive sampling method was used to select eight experts from eight public universities, each with over 20 years of experience as academic librarians, to assess the index. The evaluation comprised 108 items across three main constructs. Results indicated, three items scored below the minimum I-CVI score, while 86 items achieved a perfect score of 1.0. The S-CVI yielded an average score of 0.97 and a universal agreement score of 0.80, confirming the overall validity of the competence index

Preservation and Visualization of Cultural Heritage Knowledge based on Topic Maps and Knowledge Graphs

Cultural heritage, which embodies a nation's historical background, cultural symbolism, rich connotations, and value systems, bridges the past, present, and future. However, it faces extinction due to urbanization, socioeconomic development, and land reclamation. Therefore, preserving and visualizing cultural heritage knowledge becomes crucial to ensure its sustainability. This paper reports the preservation and visualization of festivals, songs, medicinal practices, and folk traditions of the Jing ethnic group in Southeast China using Knowledge Graphs, Topic Maps, Vue.js, and Neo4j technologies. The resulting knowledge graph provides an interactive and visually engaging platform to enhance understanding and promote sustainable heritage practices

Digital Distractions: Can technostress and boss phubbing impact teachers' performance?

    Get PDF
The rapid growth in information technology has reshaped education, increasing teachers' responsibilities and potentially leading to technostress, which impacts job performance through psychological, physical, and emotional strain. Notably, early retirements due to stress rose from 2,777 in 2015 to over 10,000 in 2022. This research examines the link between technostress and job performance among rural teachers in Segamat, Johor, and explores boss phubbing’s effect. Utilizing a quantitative approach and a sample of 251 teachers, the study, based on the Transactional Theory of Stress, reveals that Techno-Overload and Techno-Complexity affect job performance, though boss phubbing does not moderate this relationship
