Aesthetic Integration in Children’s Calligraphy: Teachers’ and Experts’ Perspectives

This qualitative study explores how aesthetic education can be integrated into calligraphy instruction for elementary-aged children. Semi-structured interviews with two primary school calligraphy teachers and three calligraphy education experts examined the need for a new teaching module, current practices, classroom challenges, and ways to engage low-interest learners. Participants highlighted age-appropriate instruction, cultural themes, and interactive activities, while noting constraints such as limited class time, short attention spans, and insufficient resources. Findings suggest that effective integration of aesthetic principles requires innovative module design, cross-disciplinary approaches, and stronger teacher development, offering guidance for future curriculum planning. &nbsp

Relationship between Foot Disorder, Disability, and Fitness Among Older People with Low Back Pain: A Scoping Review

Foot conditions and low back pain (LBP) are common contributors to mobility decline in older people. This scoping review aimed to explore how foot disorders, physical fitness, and disability relate to LBP in later life. From 1272 records, 12 studies met the inclusion criteria. Foot problems, including deformities, weak toe flexors, and unsuitable footwear, were consistently linked to poorer balance and reduced mobility, while studies on LBP alone showed similar patterns of functional decline. However, to investigate this research gap, this review highlights the limited evidence directly examining foot disorders and LBP together

Quality of Life and Burden in Informal Caregivers of Femoral Neck Fracture Patients

Femoral neck fractures in older adults often require extensive recovery, making family caregivers essential in providing daily assistance and emotional support. This study examined the quality of life and burden among 176 informal caregivers in Malaysian public hospitals using the SF-36 and Caregiver Burden Inventory. Findings showed moderate physical (PCS = 48.84) and mental (MCS = 51.81) quality of life, alongside moderate caregiver burden (CBI = 46.39). Caregivers nonetheless reported notable strain across multiple domains. These results highlight the need for improved support systems, including psychosocial resources, respite care, and stronger rehabilitation services to enhance caregiver well-being and patient recovery

The Chronotype and Chrononutrition Behaviours of Adults with Coronary Artery Disease

    No full text
This study offers insights into an individual’s circadian preference and the temporal eating behaviour that comprises six selected chrononutrition behaviours. This study aimed to explore the chronotype and chrononutrition behaviours of adults with coronary artery disease. The findings suggest that adults with CAD had a nearly balanced chronotype distribution with a slight predominance of morning chronotypes, and diverse chrononutrition behaviours, with a predominance of poor behaviours. The findings highlight that chronotype and chrononutrition behaviours could be important factors to consider in planning secondary management strategies for CAD

Planting Profiles’ Impact on Bird Species Diversity in Taman Botani Negara, Shah Alam

The influence of planting profiles on avian diversity is poorly quantified in managed park landscapes. The study’s objectives are to investigate the effects of vegetation structure, plant composition, and canopy complexity on bird species richness and diversity, besides their consequences for bird abundance, distribution patterns, and foraging guilds across selected zones of Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam (TBNSA). Vegetation profiling and standardized avifaunal point counts were applied, along with diversity indices and non-parametric statistics. The results revealed significant inter-zone differences (H = 8.24, p < 0.05); exhibiting canopy cover, vertical layering, and native plant proportion as strong predictors of diversity

Regulating Digital Pharmacies in Malaysia: Lessons from the United States

    No full text
E-commerce has experienced rapid growth, and access to pharmaceutical products has changed, raising questions about unauthorised online sales and platform responsibility. Malaysia has a comprehensive pharmaceutical legislation, but it’s not adjusted to digital intermediaries. By comparison, the United States takes a complex regulatory approach that includes federal drug regulations as well as market-based transparency requirements. This study employs doctrinal and comparative approaches to assess the adequacy of Malaysia's regulatory framework. The findings highlight fragmented enforcement and weak platform responsibilities, underscoring the need for reforms to improve verification, traceability, and consumer protection. &nbsp

Literature Review on 30 Years in Aging Tourism: Past, Present and Future Trends

Ageing tourism has evolved over three decades from market segmentation to a holistic framework that links travel to healthy ageing and Quality of Life (QoL). This narrative review synthesises past gaps, current trends, and future directions using bibliometric insights. Early research often overlooked the experiential depth, health impacts, and vulnerability of certain groups. Contemporary studies position tourism as a non-pharmacological intervention enhancing physical vitality, psychological resilience, and social connectedness, supported by digital innovations. Future research should adopt inclusive and interdisciplinary approaches, integrate ethical technology, and address the needs of caregivers. Embedding QoL principles will enable tourism to serve as a catalyst for longevity, equity, and well-being

Self-Care Behaviors Among Malaysian Heart Failure Patients in Government Hospital: Demographics Influence

Heart failure requires effective self-care to prevent complications, and understanding demographic influences supports tailored interventions. This study assessed self-care behaviors among HF patients and examined the impact of demographic variables. A cross-sectional study involving 159 patients receiving treatment for at least 6 months was selected through simple random sampling, and the SCHFI v7.2 was used, with analyses conducted using SPSS 27.0. Participants showed strong maintenance behaviors but moderate symptom management, with age the only significant predictor. HF patients perform well in maintenance tasks, but younger heart failure patients need targeted support to improve self-care

Mediating Role of Relational Value in Cultural Ecosystem Services Assessment for Subjective Well-Being

Rapid urbanization continues to raise concerns about environmental quality, and the concept of cultural ecosystem services (CES) is gaining global attention as a means of maintaining human well-being. This narrative review examines the mediating role of relational value between the relationship of perceived environmental spaces and cultural practices in assessing CES. Using structured qualitative screening, three themes were identified: 1) perceived environmental space as provision of CES, 2) cultural practices as expressions of human-nature relationship, and 3) relational value as a mediating mechanism in well-being. This review emphasizes relational value as a mediating mechanism offering a conceptual base for future CES evaluation studies

What Maps Reveal and Generational Views of Peri-Urban Landscape Change in Hulu Langat, Malaysia

This study examines the relationship between spatial landscape change and community perception within Hulu Langat’s peri-urban region. LANDSAT imagery from 1989 to 2019 revealed substantial land-use/ land-cover (LULC) changes identified through unsupervised classification. A structured survey (n = 406) captured residents’ perceptions of these changes. Findings show that forest loss was consistently recognized across all age groups, whereas agricultural land and water bodies change diverged, particularly among younger cohorts. This divergence underscores how older respondents link landscape transformation with fading cultural identities and suggests that the gradual loss of generational memory may diminish recognition of the earlier peri-urban landscape character
