    Exploring Motivational Drivers and Economic Impact of Youth Volunteerism in Malaysia

    This study examines the motivational factors influencing youth volunteerism in Malaysia, focusing on six key drivers: social, understanding, values, career, protective, and enhancement motivations. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 385 Malaysian youth volunteers and analyzed through structural equation modeling. The findings reveal that values, social, and enhancement motivations significantly influence youth volunteerism, while understanding, career, and protective motivations have no significant impact. Policy implications include designing volunteer programs that emphasize altruistic values and personal growth opportunities. These insights aim to foster sustained youth engagement in volunteerism, contributing to national development and social cohesion

    Income Diversification and Cost Efficiency Nexus: Empirical evidence from the Asia Pacific banking sector

    This study investigates the relationship between income diversification and cost efficiency in the Asia Pacific banking industry, using a fixed effect panel data regression model from 2012 to 2022. The analysis focuses on the effects of different income sources on banking efficiency. Our main finding is that income diversification positively impacts bank efficiency, indicating that banks with diverse income streams tend to operate more efficiently. This result remains robust even when considering the potential effects of income volatility and various moderating variables. While diversification is generally beneficial, our findings suggest that not all diversification is equally advantageous

    Role of Private Companies as Mediators in Enhancing Smart City Performance: Insights from Malaysia

    This study addresses two objectives: firstly, to discern the relationship between local government, private companies, and smart city performance; and secondly, to elucidate the role of private companies in the nexus between local government and smart city performance. Employing a stratified random sampling technique, 2,000 questionnaires were distributed via an online survey to all smart cities in Malaysia. About 399 responses were collected. Findings underscore a positive and significant relationship between local government and private companies, and between private companies and smart city performance. Additionally, private companies were found to mediate the relationship between local government and smart city performance

    Mental Health Status of Preschool Left-Behind Children in Shaanxi Rural Areas

    As of 2020, there are 6.436 million preschool left-behind children in rural China, facing urgent mental health issues (Yang,2022). This study evaluated the mental health of preschool left-behind children in Shaanxi using the "Preschool Children's Mental Health Status Assessment Scale." Questionnaires were conducted among the parents of 31 rural preschool left-behind children and 31 teachers in Shaanxi Province respectively. The data was analyzed by using SPSS version 27.0. It identified problems such as emotional instability, weak social skills, and low self-identity. The study recommends strengthening mental health assessments, support systems, personalized interventions, improving teacher training, and establishing long-term tracking mechanisms

    Rural early childhood teachers' work engagement directly impacts their professional development and significantly influences the quality of the early childhood education system. However, rural early childhood teachers in China face numerous challenges in maintaining high levels of work engagement. This study used the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) to examine the relationship between professional characteristics and work engagement among 530 rural early childhood teachers. The results showed that teaching tenure, educational level, professional background, and other factors significantly affected their work engagement

    Classroom Climate Shapes Student Behaviour: A mediated-moderation approach to bullying

    This study investigates the relationships between teachers' responses to bullying (TRB), classroom climate (CC), and student bullying behaviour (SBB), with a focus on how grade level moderates these dynamics. The findings indicate that TRB significantly reduces SBB, with CC acting as a key mediator in this relationship. Notably, younger students (Grade 4) show a stronger response to teacher interventions compared to older students (Grade 6), highlighting the importance of developmental considerations in anti-bullying strategies. The study emphasizes the need for age-specific, environment-focused interventions to foster safer, more supportive classroom environments and reduce bullying.

    This study investigates barriers to health literacy among communities in Taman Negara Pahang, Malaysia. Data was collected using Focus Group Discussions, in-depth interviews, and the Net-Map tool from 16 stakeholders including government bodies, healthcare providers, and non-governmental organizations. The Social Network Analysis revealed cohesiveness (density: 0.47) highlighting individuals involved in sharing health-related information. The thematic analysis highlighted four obstacles: barriers, lack of infrastructure, fiscal limitations, and restrictive regulations. Suggested interventions include awareness campaigns, multilingual outreach, and policy reforms. The results highlight the importance of multi-sectoral promoting health opportunities and shaping policies for underserved communities in protected areas.

    Tourists’ Perception using Sentiment Analysis at Cenang Beach

    The increasing use of online platforms has made user-generated content vital for understanding tourist behavior. This study analyzes 460 English reviews from TripAdvisor about Cenang Beach, Langkawi, Malaysia, using thematic and sentiment analysis to identify factors influencing tourist satisfaction. Six key themes emerged: atmosphere, beach quality, activities, facilities, cleanliness, and health and safety. Positive reviews highlighted atmosphere and beach quality, while negative reviews focused on cleanliness and facilities, indicating areas for improvement. The findings offer insights for destination managers to enhance tourist experiences and maintain Langkawi's reputation as a top travel destination. Future research should include other languages and platforms.

    Enhancing Instructional Effectiveness through Digital Learning Objects: Voices from Contract of Service (COS) Teachers in Malaysia

    This study investigates the role of Digital Learning Objects (DLO) in improving instructional effectiveness among Malaysia's Contract of Service (COS) teachers. Using the Nominal Group Technique (NGT), 13 primary school teachers evaluated five components of the DLO. Online assessments and learning platforms were rated as the most useful. All components were deemed suitable for classroom integration, highlighting their relevance in digital teaching. The findings suggest that DLO can help novice teachers address instructional challenges, particularly in underserved areas. The study recommends further research and the development of targeted digital support strategies to enhance the teaching experiences of COS educators
