In this painting, the artist incorporates expressionist methods to paint a unconscious figure with abstract proportions. Sleeping figures, mostly female, are common subjects for the artist\u27s paintings. However, the sex of this figure seems more masculine rather than feminine. In this painting, she uses her characteristic brusque, bold, and unblended brush strokes, highlighting the vibrant colors she uses to conjure up her intended image. The figure\u27s clothes, body parts, and face are all colorized with the same red, pink, and white erratic strokes. The background is also comprised of similar harsh and unblended brush marks. The figures face is the center of the piece. Like her sister figures in the artist\u27s other paintings, this subject\u27s facial expression seems to be an amalgamation of a various emotions, toeing the lines between exhaustion, anguish, or peace.
