    Employees\u27 awareness of the importance of air quality in the workplace

    Magistrsko delo, Osveščenost zaposlenih o pomenu kakovosti zraka na delovnem mestu, raziskuje, kako zaposleni dojemajo kakovost zraka v svojem delovnem okolju, ali se zavedajo njegovega vpliva na zdravje in ali podjetja sprejemajo ustrezne ukrepe za izboljšanje tega dejavnika. Raziskava temelji na anketnem vprašalniku, v katerem je sodelovalo 158 respondentov iz različnih panog, in na sistematičnem pregledu strokovne literature. Rezultati kažejo, da večina zaposlenih kljub nizki stopnji seznanjenosti z dejavniki kakovosti zraka intuitivno zaznava njegov pomen za zdravje in dobro počutje. Poleg tega so ugotovljene statistično pomembne povezave med slabšo kakovostjo zraka v kletnih prostorih in pogostejšimi zdravstvenimi težavami, kot so glavobol in utrujenost. Raziskava razkriva, da podjetja pogosto zaposlenih ne obveščajo o ukrepih za izboljšanje kakovosti zraka, kljub velikemu zanimanju anketirancev za dodatne informacije. V zaključku je mogoče trditi, da obstaja potreba po večji osveščenosti in aktivnejšem vključevanju podjetij v zagotavljanje zdravega delovnega okolja.The master\u27s thesis titled "Employee Awareness of the Importance of Air Quality in the Workplace" explores how employees perceive air quality in their work environment, their awareness of its impact on health, and the measures companies take to improve it. The study is based on a survey involving 158 respondents from various industries and a systematic review of professional literature. The results indicate that while most employees intuitively recognize the importance of air quality for their health and well-being, their actual knowledge of the factors affecting it remains limited. Statistically significant correlations were found between poor air quality in basement workspaces and increased health issues, such as headaches and fatigue. The study also reveals that companies often fail to inform employees about air quality improvement measures, despite significant interest from respondents. In conclusion, the findings highlight the need for greater awareness and more proactive involvement from companies in ensuring a healthy work environment

    Minors and cyberbullying

    Spletno nasilje, ki vključuje pošiljanje, objavljanje ali deljenje negativnih, škodljivih, lažnih ali zlonamernih vsebin o drugi osebi, postaja vse večji problem sodobne družbe. Kot žrtve so najbolj ranljivi otroci in mladoletniki, ki vedno več časa preživijo na spletu. Z diplomskim delom smo opozorili na pogosto prikrito obliko nasilja – spletno nasilje. Raziskovali smo njegovo razširjenost in prepoznavanje med mladoletnimi osebami v Sloveniji ter ugotavljali razlike v dojemanju spletnega nasilja med spoloma. Podali smo tudi predloge za omejitev tega vedno bolj perečega pojava. Raziskovalni del naloge temelji na kvantitativni metodi (anketni vprašalnik). Raziskava je bila izvedena na vzorcu 137 mladoletnikov v Sloveniji. Anketni vprašalnik je bil razposlan preko spletne povezave, ki smo jo delili preko družbenih omrežij, aplikacije Viber in elektronske pošte. Z raziskavo smo potrdili teze, da je spletno nasilje doživel vsaj vsak tretji anketiranecda se tovrstno nasilje pogosteje pojavlja med mladoletnimi dekleti ter da se percepcija spletnega nasilja razlikuje med spoloma. Zavrnili smo tezo, da najpogosteje prihaja do spletnega ustrahovanja, prav tako pa nismo potrdili domneve, da žrtve nasilja ne prijavijo zaradi strahu pred storilcem. Menimo, da je treba ozaveščati mladoletnike in celotno družbo o tem, da spletno nasilje zajema širok spekter dejanj, in jih spodbujati k prijavi takšnega vedenja. Ključno je informiranje mladoletnikov o pomenu spletnega nasilja, o dejanjih, ki ga sestavljajo, ter o možnostih iskanja pomoči, prijave primerov ipd. Spodbujati jih moramo, da nasilje prijavijo tako, kadar so sami žrtve, kot tudi takrat, ko vedo, da je nekdo drug izpostavljen spletnemu nasilju.Online violence—including sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or malicious content about another person—is becoming an increasingly serious issue in modern society. Children and adolescents, who are spending more and more time online, are among the most vulnerable to such abuse. This diploma thesis highlights a frequently overlooked form of violence: cyberbullying. Our research focused on its prevalence and recognition among minors in Slovenia and examined gender-based differences in the perception of online violence. We also offered suggestions for mitigating this growing problem. The empirical part of the thesis is based on the quantitative research method—a questionnaire survey. The study was conducted on a sample of 137 minors in Slovenia. The questionnaire was distributed via an online link shared through social media platforms, the Viber app, and email. Our findings confirmed several hypotheses: that at least one in three respondents had experienced online violencethat this type of violence occurs more frequently among underage girlsand that the perception of online violence varies between genders. However, we rejected the hypothesis that cyberbullying is the most common form of online abuse and did not confirm the assumption that victims refrain from reporting abuse due to fear of the perpetrator. We believe that it is essential to raise awareness—among minors and society at large—about the broad spectrum of behaviours that constitute online violence. It is equally important to encourage the reporting of such incidents. Informing minors about what online violence entails, the forms it can take, and where to seek help or how to report it is crucial. They should be encouraged to report violence both when they are the victims and when they are aware that someone else is being exposed to online violence

    The hydrogen economy of the future and raising public awareness of this trend

    V diplomskem delu smo se osredotočili na ključne dejavnike, ki vplivajo na vključevanje vodika v prihodnje energetske rešitve, pri čemer smo posebej preučevali vlogo potrošniške ozaveščenosti, inovativnosti industrije ter geopolitičnih okoliščin. Trenutno je vodikova ekonomija še v začetni fazi razvoja, s številnimi izzivi, kot so pomanjkanje infrastrukture, visoki stroški proizvodnje ter nizka raven splošne ozaveščenosti. Naša analiza potrjuje, da bodo za uspešno integracijo vodika ključni celostni ukrepi, kot so izobraževanje javnosti, tehnološke inovacije in politična podpora. Poseben poudarek smo namenili vlogi industrije, katere inovativnost in konkurenčnost določata tempo uvajanja vodikovih tehnologij. Ugotovitve kažejo, da bo prihodnja uporaba vodika najverjetneje osredotočena na prometni, gradbeni in energetski sektor. Geopolitični dejavniki, mednarodni sporazumi in energetske politike pa bodo pomembno oblikovali globalni okvir za razvoj vodikovega gospodarstva. Skupaj ti elementi določajo možnosti, s katerimi lahko vodik postane ključen akter v energetski tranziciji in trajnostnem razvoju.In this thesis we focused on the key factors influencing the inclusion of hydrogen in future energy solutions, specifically examining the role of consumer awareness, industry innovation, and geopolitical circumstances. Currently, the hydrogen economy is still in its early stages of development, with many challenges such as a lack of infrastructure, high production costs, and a low level of general awareness. Our analysis confirms that holistic measures such as public education, technological innovation and political support will be key to successful hydrogen integration. We put special emphasis on the role of the industry, whose innovation and competitiveness determine the pace of introduction of hydrogen technologies. The findings suggest that the future use of hydrogen is most likely to be focused on the transport, construction and energy sectors. Geopolitical factors, international agreements and energy policies will significantly shape the global framework for the development of the hydrogen economy. Together, these elements determine the possibilities by which hydrogen can become a key player in the energy transition and sustainable development

    Implementation of a system for the comprehensive management of product labeling in a technology company

    Diplomsko delo predstavlja potek implementacije programske rešitve centralnega sistema za upravljanje označevanja v tehnološkem podjetju. V teoretičnem delu je predstavljen sistem za upravljanje označevanja NiceLabel Label Management System Enterprise. V tem delu so razložene tudi osnove poslovnih informacijskih sistemov, ki bodo ta sistem uporabljale in se z njim povezovale. Predstavljena je tudi potrebna IT infrastruktura, ki je predpogoj za namestitev in delovanje rešitve. V praktičnem delu je predstavljen sam postopek implementacije, od namestitve virtualnega strežnika in baze podatkov do namestitve sistema NiceLabel ter konfiguracija in potrebne prilagoditve. Rezultat diplomskega dela je delujoč sistem za celovito upravljanje označevanja na način, ki bo nadomestil trenutni sistem upravljanja etiket, zadostil vsem dodatnim poslovnim zahtevam podjetja in omogočal nadaljnje širjenje in integracije s sistemi.The thesis presents the process of implementing a software solution for a centralized labeling management system in a technology company. The theoretical part introduces the NiceLabel Label Management System Enterprise. It also explains the fundamentals of business information systems that will use and integrate with this system. In addition, the necessary IT infrastructure, which is a prerequisite for installation and operation of the solution, is presented. The practical part outlines the implementation process itself — from setting up a virtual server and database to the installation of the NiceLabel system, configuration, and required customizations. The outcome of the thesis is a fully operational system for comprehensive label management, which replaces the existing labeling system, meets additional business requirements of the company, and enables further expansion and integration with other systems

    The role of managers in reducing ergonomic risks in healthcare: strategies for a safer work environment

    Uvod: Delo v zdravstveni negi je pogosto povezano s fizičnimi obremenitvami in ergonomsko tveganimi situacijami, ki lahko vodijo do mišično-skeletnih obolenj. Na podlagi pregleda literature je namen zaključnega dela raziskati vlogo vodij pri prepoznavanju, obvladovanju ter zmanjševanju ergonomskih tveganj v zdravstvu. Metode: Uporabljena je bila deskriptivna metoda dela s sistematičnim pregledom literature. Literatura je bila iskana v podatkovnih bazah CINAHL, PubMed, ScienceDirect, SAGE Journals in Google Učenjak. Izbor in analiza virov sta bila izvedena po smernicah PRISMA ter s pomočjo PIO vprašanja. Kritična ocena člankov je temeljila na orodjih Joanna Briggs Institute. Rezultati: V končno analizo je bilo vključenih 12 raziskav, ki so pokazale, da vodje z uporabo strategij, kot so ergonomsko usposabljanje, uporaba pripomočkov, prilagoditve delovnega okolja in podpora zaposlenim, pomembno prispevajo k zmanjševanju ergonomskih tveganj in s tem povezane delovne obremenitve. Razprava in zaključek: Učinkovito vodstvo je ključno za izboljšanje ergonomskih razmer v zdravstvenih organizacijah. Z vključevanjem ergonomskih načel v vsakodnevno prakso lahko vodje pomembno zmanjšajo pojav mišično-skeletnih obolenj, povečajo varnost zaposlenih in izboljšajo kakovost zdravstvene oskrbe.Introduction: Nursing work often involves physical stresses and ergonomically risky situations that can lead to musculoskeletal disorders. Based on a review of the literature, the aim of this thesis is to explore the role of managers in identifying, managing and reducing ergonomic risks in healthcare. Methods: Literature was searched in CINAHL, PubMed, ScienceDirect, SAGE Journals and Google Scholar databases. The selection and analysis of sources was carried out according to PRISMA guidelines and using PIO questions. Critical appraisal of the articles was based on Joanna Briggs Institute tools. Results: 12 studies were included in the final analysis, which showed that managers make a significant contribution to reducing ergonomic risks and the associated workload by using strategies such as ergonomic training, the use of assistive devices, workplace adaptations and employee support. Discussion and conclusion: Effective leadership is key to improving ergonomic conditions in healthcare organisations. By integrating ergonomic principles into daily practice, managers can significantly reduce the incidence of musculoskeletal disorders, increase employee safety and improve the quality of healthcare

    Cyberloafing and "always on" work culture

    V diplomski nalogi raziskujemo dejavnike kulture stalne dosegljivosti in pojav spletnega postopanja v delovnem okolju, ki ju je omogočil razvoj informacijsko-komunikacijskih tehnologij. Spletno postopanje lahko pomeni dodatna tveganja za učinkovitost in kibernetsko varnost organizacije, kultura stalne dosegljivosti pa neizogibno vpliva na vedenje, učinkovitost in dobrobit zaposlenih. V diplomskem delu smo raziskali, ali so dejavniki kulture stalne dosegljivosti povezani s spletnim postopanjem, s čimer smo želeli prispevati k boljšemu razumevanju motivov za spletno postopanje in njegovega razmerja s kulturo stalne dosegljivosti. Raziskava temelji na kvantitativni metodi analize podatkov, zbranih s spletno anketo, v kateri so respondenti ocenjevali svoje strinjanje s podanimi trditvami. S statističnimi metodami v programu PSPP smo preverjali korelacije med neodvisnimi spremenljivkami povezanimi s kulturo stalne dosegljivosti in odvisnimi spremenljivkami spletnega postopanja. Kot neodvisne spremenljivke smo obravnavali delovni stres, prekomerno razpoložljivost (prostovoljna in pričakovana), konflikt med delom in domom, zaznano organizacijsko pravičnost, atipični delovni čas in psihološki odmik. Spletno postopanje smo obravnavali v obliki treh odvisnih spremenljivk glede na namen posluževanja, in sicer za sprostitev, opravljanje osebni opravil ter komunikacijo. Rezultati raziskave v večini niso pokazali statistično značilnih povezav med dejavniki kulture stalne dosegljivosti in spletnim postopanjem, vendar smo ugotovili pomembne pozitivne povezave, pri treh dejavnikih – atipičnem delovnem času, delovnem stresu in psihološkem odmiku. Ugotovitve prispevajo k boljšemu razumevanju vedenja zaposlenih v sodobnem delovnem okolju.In this thesis, we examine the factors of an always-on culture and the occurrence of cyberloafing in the workplace, both enabled by the development of information and communication technologies. Cyberloafing can pose additional risks to an organization\u27s efficiency and cybersecurity, while an always-on culture inevitably affects employees\u27 behavior, performance, and well-being. In the thesis, we investigated whether the factors of an always-on culture are related to cyberloafing, aiming to contribute to a better understanding of the motives behind cyberloafing and its relationship with an always-on culture. The research is based on a quantitative method of data analysis, using responses collected through an online survey in which participants assessed their agreement with given statements. Statistical methods in the PSPP program were used to examine correlations between independent variables related to the always-on work culture and the dependent variables of cyberloafing. The independent variables included work-related stress, overavailability (both voluntary and expected), work-home conflict, perceived organizational justice, atypical working hours, and psychological detachment. Cyberloafing was examined in the form of three dependent variables based on the purpose of the behavior: relaxation, handling personal tasks, and communication. The results largely did not show statistically significant associations between factors of an always-on culture and cyberloafing. However, we identified significant positive correlations, supported by existing research, for three factors—atypical working hours, work stress and psychological detachment. The findings contribute to a better understanding of employee behavior in the modern work environment

    Design of the electrical system and safety standardization of a battery sorting machine in compliance with European legislation

    Diplomska naloga temelji na predelavi stroja z namenom izpolnjevanja zahtev evropskih smernic. Opisan je postopek izdelave elektro načrtov, zamenjave neustreznih komponent ter vpeljave varnosti za postopek CE. Projekt je bil izveden v podjetju SMM Proizvodni sistemi d. o. o., pri čemer sta bila za izdelavo dokumentacije stroja za sortiranje baterij uporabljena programska okolja EPLAN in SISTEMA. Cilj zaključnega dela je predelati stroj tako, da bo deloval enako, kot je deloval v nepredelanem stanju, hkrati pa bo skladen z evropskimi smernicami in standardi, kar vključuje izdelavo elektro dokumentacije, fizično predelavo ter ustrezno dokumentacijo za postopek CE.The thesis is based on the redesign of a machine to ensure compliance with European directives. It describes the process of creating electrical schematics, replacing non-compliant components, and implementing safety measures for the CE certification process. The project was carried out at SMM Proizvodni sistemi d. o. o., where the software tools EPLAN and SISTEMA were used to develop the documentation for a battery sorting machine. The objective of the thesis is to modify the machine in a way that it maintains the same functionality as in its original state, while ensuring full compliance with European directives and standards. This includes the development of electrical documentation, physical modification, and preparation of the required CE documentation

    Translation of humour in the subtitles for the American sitcom The Big Bang Theory

    Humor je zanimiv kulturni in jezikovni pojav, s katerim se dnevno srečujemo v našem vsakdanjem življenju, ga pa je kljub temu težko opredeliti in še težje prevesti. Prevajanje oz. podnaslavljanje humorističnih avdiovizualnih vsebin je edinstven prevajalski izziv. Takšne vsebine so polne kulturno specifičnih prvin in jezikovnih izzivov, ki od prevajalca zahtevajo odlično in poglobljeno poznavanje tako izvirne kot ciljne kulture. Po drugi strani podnapisi predstavljajo še dodaten izziv in oviro pri prevajanju ter ohranjanju izvirnika, saj imajo prostorske in časovne omejitve, ki jih mora prevajalec upoštevati. V teoretičnem delu so predstavljeni razvoj avdiovizualnega prevajanja, značilnosti in omejitve podnapisov ter amaterski podnapisi. Prav tako so v teoretičnem delu zajete teorija humorja, vrste humorja in strategije prevajanja po Gottliebu in Delabastiti, ki so uporabljene tudi pri analizi podnapisov. V empiričnem delu je predstavljena analiza strokovnih in amaterskih podnapisov nanizanke Veliki pokovci (The Big Bang Theory, 2007). Pregledanih je bilo vseh dvanajst sezon nanizanke, iz katerih je bilo izluščenih sto primerov za analizo. Delo se osredotoča na prevajalske strategije, ki so jih prevajalci uporabili, ohranitev humorističnih elementov v prevodu in primerjavo kakovosti prevodov med profesionalnimi in amaterskimi podnapisi. Analiza podnapisov je pokazala, da so bili humoristični elementi izvirnika ohranjeni v manj kot polovici strokovnih prevodov in v manj kot tretjini amaterskih prevodov, čeprav sta obe skupini prevajalcev uporabili približno enako število različnih prevajalskih strategij.Humour is an interesting cultural and linguistic phenomenon that we encounter on a daily basis in our everyday lives. Despite that, it is difficult to explain and define and even harder to translate. Translation or subtitling of humorous audio-visual content is a unique challenge for the translator. This type of content is full of cultural-specific elements and linguistic challenges that require the translator to have in-depth knowledge of both the source and the target culture. Subtitling also represents an additional challenge and an obstacle to the translation and preservation of the source material, as they have spatial and time constraints that the translator must take into account. The theoretical part of the thesis presents the development of audio-visual translation, characteristics and limits of subtitles and describes amateur subtitles. The theoretical part also includes the theory of humour, the types of humour and the translation strategy by Gottlieb and Delabastita, which are used later in the analysis of the subtitles. The empirical part presents an analysis of the professional and amateur subtitles of the American sitcom The Big Bang Theory (2007). All twelve seasons of the series have been reviewed and boiled down to a hundred cases used for analysis. The thesis focuses on what translation strategies have been used by the translators, if humorous elements were preserved in translation and comparing the quality of translations between professional and amateur subtitles. The analysis of the subtitles showed that the humorous elements of the original were preserved in less than half of the professional translations and in less than a third of amateur translations, even though both groups of translators used approximately the same number of different translation strategies

    The role of personality tests in personnel selection: comparison with other methods

    V sodobnem kadrovskem managementu postajajo selekcijski postopki vse bolj strateško pomemben dejavnik uspešnega upravljanja s človeškimi viri. Med številnimi metodami, ki jih organizacije uporabljajo pri izbiri kandidatov, so osebnostni testi pogosto predstavljeni kot znanstveno utemeljena in objektivna orodja, katerih uporabnost se kaže predvsem v napovedovanju vedênja, dolgoročne uspešnosti in ujemanja posameznika z organizacijsko kulturo. Namen magistrskega dela je bil raziskati vlogo osebnostnih testov v procesu selekcije kadrov, jih primerjati z drugimi selekcijskimi metodami ter analizirati, kako jih slovenske organizacije vključujejo v svoje selekcijske postopke, jih vrednotijo in kombinirajo. Magistrska naloga združuje teoretični pregled relevantne strokovne literature in empirično raziskavo, ki je bila izvedena z anketiranjem večjih slovenskih podjetij in zaposlitvenih agencij. Uporabljena je bila kvantitativna metoda raziskovanja s pomočjo strukturiranega vprašalnika, prilagojenega za analizo uporabe selekcijskih metod, percepcije osebnostnih testov in zaznanih prednosti ter slabosti njihove uporabe. Podatki so bili analizirani s pomočjo deskriptivne in inferenčne statistike, pri čemer so bile preverjene tudi hipoteze o vplivu različnih dejavnikov na uporabo in oceno osebnostnih testov. Rezultati raziskave so pokazali, da se osebnostni testi v slovenskih organizacijah še vedno uporabljajo manj pogosto, kot bi lahko glede na njihovo teoretično vrednost, in da njihova uporaba ni sistematična. Potrjena je bila hipoteza, da organizacije, ki osebnostne teste vključujejo v strukturirani selekcijski postopek (npr. skupaj s kognitivnimi testi), zaznavajo njihovo večjo uporabnost. Prav tako se je potrdilo, da večje organizacije z bolj razvitimi kadrovskimi funkcijami pogosteje prepoznavajo visoko napovedno vrednost testov. Druge hipoteze – zlasti tiste, povezane z razlikami med profili kadrov ali kombinacijo metod – niso bile v celoti potrjene, kar nakazuje na razkorak med teoretičnimi priporočili in dejansko uporabo testov v praksi. Na podlagi ugotovitev so bila oblikovana priporočila za učinkovitejšo uporabo osebnostnih testov, ki vključujejo njihovo integracijo v strukturirane postopke, uporabo validiranih orodij, strokovno interpretacijo rezultatov in večjo podporo kadrovskim strokovnjakom pri odločanju. Naloga prispeva k boljšemu razumevanju trenutnega položaja osebnostnih testov v slovenski selekcijski praksi in nudi usmeritve za njihovo premišljeno, zakonodajno skladno in strokovno podprto vključevanje v kadrovsko odločanje.In modern human resource management, selection procedures are becoming an increasingly strategic component of effective workforce planning. Among the various tools used in candidate assessment, personality tests are often presented as scientifically grounded and objective instruments, particularly valuable for predicting behaviour, long-term performance, and alignment with organizational culture. The purpose of this master\u27s thesis was to explore the role of personality tests in the personnel selection process, compare them with other selection methods, and analyse how Slovenian organizations incorporate them into their procedures, assess their value, and combine them with other tools. Thesis combines a theoretical review of relevant literature and an empirical study based on a survey conducted among larger Slovenian companies and employment agencies. A quantitative research approach was employed using a structured questionnaire tailored to analyse the use of selection methods, the perception of personality tests, and the perceived advantages and disadvantages of their application. The collected data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics, and five research hypotheses were tested to examine the influence of various organizational factors on the use and evaluation of personality tests. Findings reveal that personality tests are still used less frequently than expected given their proven predictive validity and are not applied consistently. The hypothesis that organizations incorporating personality tests into a structured selection process (e.g. combined with cognitive tests) perceive them as more useful was confirmed. Likewise, larger organizations with more professionalized HR functions are more likely to recognize the predictive value of these tests. However, other hypotheses —particularly those regarding differences between employee profiles or the use of method combinations—were not fully confirmed, indicating a gap between theoretical recommendations and practical application. Based on the findings, the thesis offers several recommendations for more effective use of personality tests. These include their integration into structured procedures, reliance on validated instruments, professional interpretation of results, and greater support for HR professionals in decision-making. The thesis contributes to a deeper understanding of the current role of personality tests in Slovenian selection practice and provides concrete guidelines for their thoughtful, legally compliant, and professionally sound integration into HR decision-making

    Evaluation of the energy efficiency of lighting in buildings according to the revised standard sist en 15193:2017

    Cilj diplomskega dela je ocena energetske učinkovitosti stavbe po standardu SIST EN 15193:2017. Uporabljeni sta dve računski metodi, in sicer celovita in hitra metodarazlika je v približku dejanski vrednosti. Vsebina diplomskega dela temelji na novem objektu. Osnova za primerjavo je analitični izračun energij, ki se porabljajo za razsvetljavoizračunan v Microsoft Excelu. Razen analitične ocene je v programu Relux narejen tudi model razsvetljave stavbe, s pomočjo katerega smo izvedli numerični izračun. Izračuni so osnova za oceno energetske učinkovitosti obstoječe razsvetljave.The goal of this thesis is to asses the energy efficiency of a building according to the SIST EN 15193:2017 standard. Two calculation methods are used: the comprehensive and the quick method, with the difference being the approximation to the actual value. The work is based on review of an exisiting building. The basis for comparison is the analytical calculation of energy consumed for lighting, performed in excel.
