Response of the invasive alien plant Duchesnea indica (Andrews) Teschem. to different environmental and competitive settings
Indian mock strawberry (Duchesnea indica, syn. Potentilla indica), a clonal invasive plant native to Asia, has rapidly spread in Europe, where its ecological adaptation allows it to thrive under varying environmental conditions. It is mostly found in urban habitats such as lawns, parks, and urban and peri-urban forests, where it thrives in various plant communities. It can become dominant in certain communities, indicating its competitive advantage over native plants. Due to similar habitat preferences, it often coexists with the native species Glechoma hederacea, with which it shares other characteristics such as clonal growth. This study investigates the effects of light, nutrients, and competition on the growth, morphology, and physiology of D. indica. A controlled pot experiment exposed plants to combinations of sunlight and shade, optimal and increased nutrient levels, and competitive scenarios with the native plant G. hederacea. The plant traits of biomass, leaf and ramet number, stolon and flower production, leaf greenness, the photosynthetic efficiency of Photosystem II, and stomatal conductance were assessed. Results revealed that light and nutrient availability significantly enhanced growth metrics. In shaded conditions, D. indica adapted with elongated petioles and increased specific leaf area. Competition significantly reduced growth, with G. hederacea outperforming D. indica. These findings highlight the complex interplay between abiotic and biotic factors in influencing invasive species impact, providing essential insights for ecosystem management
Bare-bones particle swarm optimization for emergency scheduling in public events
Efficient scheduling of emergency resources is of great practical significance to ensure the smooth progress of large-scale events and maintain public safety. Therefore, this paper, firstly, proposes a novel emergency rescue system after public emergencies in large-scale sports events. In order to allocate resources, this paper establishes a single-objective model that minimizes the maximum delivery time (the injured waiting in place and being transported to the hospital) on the basis of considering the rescue effect. This paper proposes an improved barebones particle swarm optimization algorithm (IBBPSO) to solve the model. Through case analysis, it is found that compared with the bare-bones particle swarm optimization algorithm (BBPSO) and RBBPSO, the average optimization effect of IBBPSO is 62 % higher than that of RBBPSO and 23 % higher than that of BBPSO. IBBPSO has better performance in solving the resource allocation problem proposed in this paper

The monograph contains nine contributions focused on research into Slavic languages and literature. The first section highlights the literary creativity of younger Slovenian female writers and explores the characteristics and issues of South Slavic inter-literary reception in contemporary times. It also analyses the well-known poem “Juri Muri po Sloveniji” (Juri Muri around Slovenia), which can be interpreted as a guide to cultural heritage. The second section begins with three contributions on phraseology that examine animals in comparative idioms in Slovenian, Croatian, Macedonian, and Russianthe themes of wealth and poverty in Slovenian and Ukrainianand the phraseological equivalents between Slovenian and Croatian. Next, there is a study of selected aspects of presidential speeches and inaugural addresses, an analysis of morphological errors made by Macedonian speakers when learning Slovenian, and a presentation on using excursions as a teaching method for acquiring Slovenian, particularly as a second or foreign language
The development of talent management in company x
V magistrskem delu smo proučevali stanje ravnanja in razvoja talentiranih posameznikov v izbranem podjetju.
In the Master’s thesis, we studied the state management and development of talented individuals in the selected company. The final work consists of the theoretical and empirical part. In the first part, we reviewed professional literature and presented theoretical backgrounds from the field of talent management. With the descriptive method, we described facts, summarized them and compared opinions of different authors. We then conducted a behavioural interview with each recognized talent and obtained information about their standpoints, desires and needs. We processed the results of the interviews and based on the findings formed a model for talent management in company X and provided advice for the selected company in the field of talent management. We wish that our suggestions would contribute to improved business activities of company X – its recognition, strengthening of the brand, innovativeness, creativity and general work efficiency.
The results of the empirical part have shown that the majority of talented individual have felt a feeling of welcome when they started working and then the majority of them were on their own. Only three employees were satisfied with the programme of organisational synchronisation, since they were assigned a mentor. Other employees described the induction process as non-systematic and too fast.
Some of the interviewees think that they receive insufficient information regarding the field of work they perform. Lack of information also influences their work performance. This also influences the communication with clients. The same respondents also stressed out dissatisfaction regarding obtaining feedback about expectations and desires regarding their work. None of them has set any career goals and they do not receive feedback.
We found that the majority of interviewees are not too familiar with the field of personal brands and brands of the employer. Despite of this, the results have shown that the company does not provide any help to individuals with the strategic development of a personal brand or is even not aware of its own brand.
We advise the company to follow the suggested model for talent management in order to keep talented individuals and thus begin to build an employer brand and create brands of talented individuals, who represent the face and competitive advantage of the company
Social organizations for self-sufficiency support in Slovenia
The master’s thesis examines social organizations in Slovenia engaged in various forms of self-sufficiency. In times of environmental and economic challenges, self-sufficiency is crucial for reducing dependence on global systems, reconnecting people with nature and promoting the use of local and renewable resources. In the research, we explored the role and functions of these organizations, their impact and the link between their mission and the promotion of self-sufficiency. The objectives were to create a geographical network of people connected to self-sufficiency, estimate the importance of geographical space for their operations, evaluate knowledge transfer and identify challenges and development opportunities. The empirical part includes an analysis of the organizations’ origins, a review of their online content, geographical analysis and interviews. The results show that organizations see opportunities mainly in the growing interest in locally produced food, sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint. Food self-sufficiency emerged as the most common form, often linked to economic self-sufficiency, which was expected due to social-economic circumstances. Key factors for successful production include knowledge of climate change, the local environment, access to land, as well as adequate expertise and infrastructure. Digital tools have proven to be important for disseminating knowledge and sharing best practices
Development and impact of digital video on demand platforms on traditional television systems
Ugotovitve nakazujejo, da VOD platforme s tehnološkimi inovacijami in prilagajanjem vsebin uporabnikom postopoma postajajo ena izmed prevladujočih oblik potrošnje avdiovizualnih vsebin. The study examines the impact of digital video-on-demand (VOD) platforms, such as Netflix, HBO Max, and Disney+, on traditional television systems. It focuses on analyzing the functionality, user experience, and content offerings of these platforms while exploring how they shape user behavior and preferences. Development and implementation of a linear manipulator with S7-1500 controller
In this thesis, we researched, designed, 3D modeled, and built a linear manipulator, as well as developed a program for its motion control. The manipulator can move along the X and Z axes using a motor, controller, and pneumatic cylinder. It is equipped with a vacuum gripper that enables it to pick up and transfer objects to a selected location, where they are precisely placed. Additionally, we researched and developed a 3D model of the linear Y-axis, which has not yet been physically manufactured
Parallelism and complementarity of traditional and agile methods of project management
The diploma thesis »Paralleling and integration of traditional and agile methods of project managemen« basically explores the possibilities of combining traditional and agile methods of project management to adapt and optimize a dynamic business environment and its operations. As a rounded whole, it provides an in-depth overview of traditional methodologies, such as Waterfall and Critical path method (CPM), as well as agile methodologies, such as Scrum and Kanban.
The thesis thus emphasizes the concept of hybrid project management, which tries to take advantage of the advantages of both traditional and agile approaches. It discusses the benefits of flexibility, adaptability and optimization of project outcomes that can be achieved through this type of integration. Acknowledging challenges such as cultural resistance and resource allocation, the thesis offers current strategies to overcome these barriers. In doing so, he also explores emerging trends in project management, such as the integration of artificial intelligence and big data analytics
The effectiveness of workplace health promotion: an analysis and implementation of strategies to promote healthy lifestyles among employees
In this master’s thesis, we explored the topic of workplace health promotion, with a focus on employees at the occupational, traffic, and sports medicine outpatient clinic (MDPŠ). Employee health is one of the key factors for the success and sustainable development of any organization. Therefore, it is important that employers invest in activities that contribute to the physical, mental, and social well-being of their staff.
In the theoretical part of the thesis, we presented the concept of health promotion, its objectives, and the types of measures that organizations can implement to improve employee health. Special attention was given to risk factors associated with an unhealthy lifestyle, such as physical inactivity, poor nutrition, lack of sleep, prolonged sitting, and stress. We described how these factors affect the occurrence of chronic diseases, reduced mental and physical well-being, and lower work performance and job satisfaction. Additionally, we discussed the benefits of implementing workplace health promotion programs, including reduced absenteeism, increased motivation, and improved workplace climate.
In the empirical part, we conducted a research study among employees at the MDPŠ outpatient clinic to examine their perception of health promotion in the workplace. Using a questionnaire, we investigated whether employees are familiar with health promotion activities, how often they participate in them, how these activities affect their health and well-being, and what improvements they would like to see. We were also interested in whether employees believe that their employer sufficiently supports a healthy lifestyle and how important they find employer-driven health initiatives.
The research findings revealed that while most employees are aware of the importance of health promotion, they would like to see more concrete activities and stronger leadership support in this area. The majority recognized the positive impact of health promotion on their well-being and job satisfaction, while also highlighting the need for a more systematic approach. Based on the collected data, we proposed recommendations for upgrading current measures to contribute to better employee health, higher motivation, and improved long-term performance. The survey results indicated that the majority of employees recognize the importance of a healthy lifestyle and positively evaluate the employer’s support. Nevertheless, many do not feel included in the design of health promotion activities, and overall awareness remains limited. Although statistical analysis did not confirm a significant correlation between awareness or incentives and participation, important trends emerged suggesting that organizational support plays a crucial role in the effective implementation of workplace health promotion
