WALKING TRAINING-ORTHOTICS OR EARLY ASSITIVE DEVICES? OUTCOME MEASURES OF WALKING CAPACITY AND PERFORMANCE OF CHILDREN WITH MYELOMENINGOCELE
The purpose of this study is to examine the impact and capabilities of children diagnosed with myelomeningocele. Studies advocate that other factor, such as secondary deformities, active lifestyle, fitness and daily physical activity can influence the ambulatory state (Mazur & Kyle, 2007). An independent ambulatory lifestyle is an important goal to work towards as an affected child. Studies support the efficiency of early bracing and the positive effect on more independent ambulation in adolescence (Mazur & Kyle, 2007). Personalized devices are utilized to assist the children to a more independent lifestyle. The support system of the diagnosed child plays a vital role in the treatment plan. “Parents of children with disabilities often experience a higher level of stress than parents of children without disabilities, regardless of categories of disabilities” (Hsiao, 2018). Parental/caregiver involvement and education directly correlates to the child’s development. This literature review main idea is to have the parents/caregivers of children with myelomeningocele participate in a study that they will decide to enroll their children in one of two programs—walking training-orthotics or early assistive devices. Following the enrollment, the program will test the efficacy of the devices by measuring walking capacity and performance. Peers are a huge part of life and affect people in many different ways. In adolescence and adulthood, peers have different kinds of impacts. The researchers chose to research how peer influence can affect the decisions, performance and attitudes of adolescents and adults. Specifically, researchers analyzed how lifestyle decisions influenced by peers affect mental health and how the effects differ from gender and age. Participants of the study were selected to fit the three age groups needed for this study and responses were collected via electronic survey. Throughout this study, the relationship that peer influence has with mental health, positive and negative activities, and age is fully addressed
Is there an association between sarcopenia-related weakness and urinary incontinence measured by the QUID?
The United States Census Bureau estimates that by 2050 80 million individuals will be over 65 years old (Marty et al., 2017). It has been found that between the age of 40 to 80 years old, there is a 30-50% decline in total skeletal muscle mass with a 3% decline annually after 60 years old (Marty et al., 2017). Moreover, the prevalence of sarcopenia is estimated between 5-13% in community-dwelling individuals over the age of 65 years old with an even higher prevalence in those who are over the age of 80 years old or those who live in assisted living or hospitalized (Yu et al., 2016). Among the geriatric population, urinary incontinence and muscle weakness are common diagnoses that a physical therapist can come across. Since there is direct access to physical therapists who come across both dysfunctions, it can be helpful to find a tool for these clinicians to use to identify individuals at the risk of developing sarcopenia. Therefore, the proposed study seeks to identify if there is a meaningful relationship between the QUID and the diagnostic criteria for physical performance related to sarcopenia such as the TUG and the hand grip strength among the community-dwelling geriatric population. The purpose of the study highlights the importance of identifying those who are at risk for sarcopenia as it may negatively affect quality of life and function. It is of utmost importance to be able to distinguish the presence of sarcopenia in its initial stages to prevent the loss of muscle mass and to decrease the morbidity and mortality associated with it. With the use of the screening measures discussed in this study, it is cost-effective, non-invasive and readily available to practitioners, such as physical therapists, to screen for the risk of sarcopenia

Law Enforcement’s Use of Social Media: It is more then just a post
Social media has become a preferred way to communicate for many and can be a look into the user’s personal life. However, law enforcement also knows this. Law enforcement’s use of social media for investigations has been proven to be effective in monitoring gatherings and helping to solve crimes. While legal, law enforcement also has an ethical responsibility to the community and have strong policies in place to prevent misuse of this tool. This is not the only use of social media by law enforcement. Social media is also used to interact with the community. Reviewing the good and bad aspects of posting on social media helps build community support in a way to influence a positive reaction from the citizens. During a crisis law enforcement can send out press releases and provide information. To prepare for such an event the department should have plans that include pre-crisis, during crisis, and post-crisis. These plans will be used to provide information in a reliable fashion

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Susan Schmidt is a Caucasian female born on April 30, 1958. She is the youngest of six siblings. Her father worked in the water department of South St. Paul, as a deputy sheriff, and as an aide on the psychiatric ward of a veteran\u27s home. Her mother was a stay-at-home mom. They lived on the North end of South St Paul. She grew up with a unique religious background. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: Schmidt discusses growing up in her family home near a memorial site for the remains of the last group of Kaposia Indians. She recalls living with crows, which her mother loved. Schmidt tells the story of her childhood home being haunted by the previous owner\u27s son. Later in the interview, she recalls the influential teachers throughout her elementary to high school career. Confirming the presence of Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxin SEB from campus wide swabbing
Samples taken from the CSP community were previously isolated and characterized as Staphylococcus aureus. In this study, the DNA from those positive samples were purified through a genomic prep and ran through a polymerase chain reaction for the SEB toxin gene. Resveratrol, Gentisic Acid, And Flaxseed Oil: Antioxidative Agents Against HeLa Cell Proliferation
This study examines how three dietary supplements—resveratrol, gentisic acid, and flaxseed oil—affect the growth of HeLa cells. Resveratrol was predicted to have a more significant inhibitory effect on HeLa cell proliferation than the other test substances. HeLa cells were expanded in T-25 flasks and treated in triplicate within 96 well plates with various supplement variables. The findings demonstrated that resveratrol promoted cell proliferation while gentisic acid and flaxseed oil treatment significantly reduced the viability of HeLa cells. The findings suggest that, in contrast to the hypothesis, resveratrol may not have much of an impact on reducing HeLa cell proliferation. HeLa cell proliferation was significantly reduced by gentisic acid, supporting the possibility that it has anticancer properties. Notably, flaxseed oil demonstrated the most promising results in slowing the growth of HeLa cells, indicating its potential as a potent anticancer agent. Further research is necessary to understand the mechanisms underlying the effects of these agents on the proliferation of HeLa cells. More research is required to investigate these effects\u27 mechanisms and confirm their potential clinical applications. Overall, the results of this study may have a big impact on creating new treatments for diseases like cancer
