The Influence of Anxiety on an Athlete’s Sport Performance
No full textThis research proposal investigates if there is a correlation between anxiety and sport performance. A group of 12 throwers from Concordia University St. Paul’s track and field team, as well as a survey that explored key aspects of these athletes to determine if they are anxious before a meet. Using the SAS-2 survey and official distances from their outdoor season, we were able to compare the scores from each of these to determine if an athlete’s anxiety affected their performance during a meet. The SAS-2 survey included 21 questions spanning three different subcategories that the athletes filled out the night before each competition. The official results of the preliminary throws from the meet were averaged and used to compare to the score from the most recent SAS-2 score.

The primary goal of the experience was to gain insights and practical knowledge to the establishment and maintenance of a multi-sports complex. The experience surrounds various meeting and activities including facility assessment, development of maintenance protocols, budgeting, staff training, and community engagement, The research project focused on creating a detailed maintenance plan for a sports complex, giving theoretical knowledge, scientific research, and ethical decision-making analysis. Key outcomes include project management, data analysis, and communicating skills which will contribute to future roles in the sports industry. With the acknowledgement of the importance of synthesizing theoretical concepts with practice experiences to achieve professional growth and success in the sports industry

In light of what is known about pedagogy in the contemporary educational setting, one way educators can lead equitably and inclusively in order to positively impact student development and learning is by increasing the diversity of the teacher body in our schools. Technology Usage and its Effects on K-12 Student Outcomes

This has become more apparent since the COVID-19 pandemic, in which students and teachers were forced into remote learning with little preparation, and the constant advancement of technology in society, which leads to new best practices and increased access to information and teaching modes (Leech et al., 2022). This review aimed to determine current research on technology\u27s impact on student outcomes and engagement. Through the research, the trends of perceptions of technology and preparation for teachers and students, the idea of increased access and engagement, and the idea of virtual versus traditional in-person learning appeared to be most impactful. While the distractions and other potential consequences of a larger interconnected world have impacted education, the research also shows that the increased access and perception behind technology usage has shifted within the system, and improved student learning has begun to be shown (Carstens et al., 2021). As education continues to evolve with more information and advancements in technology, teachers and leaders must find a way to help minimize the negatives that technology can present, such as cyberbullying, social media, and other distractive factors, while maximizing the potential that the increased accessibility and connectedness of technology can bring to the system
The Influence of Incentives: Within Collegiate Level Volleyball
No full textCoaching athletes involves various styles and techniques aimed at maximizing performance. An underexplored area within coaching is the influence of positive and negative incentives on a team performance. This study focuses on assessing the impact of incentives on a collegiate women\u27s volleyball team. While incentives are widely used in various fields such as criminology, psychology, and behavioral sciences their application in sports remains relatively unexplored. Drawing on previous research, this study aims to fill this gap by investigating how positive and negative incentives affect athlete performance. The study involves conducting skills tests with and without incentives and analyzing the results. Statistical analysis will be used to compare performance across different incentive conditions. The findings will contribute to understanding the effectiveness of incentive-based coaching techniques and inform practice strategies for coaches. The study also underscores the need for further research to enhance coaching practices and optimize athlete performance. Ethical considerations, limitations, and recommendations for future research are also discussed. Overall, this study seeks to advance knowledge in sports coaching by exploring the influence of incentives on athlete performance in collegiate women\u27s volleyball

When not accurately recognized and diagnosed, these deficits can contribute to suboptimal educational outcomes such as poor grades, repeating grade levels, and failure to graduate. To prevent such deleterious education outcomes, individualized programming may be necessary for students to obtain success in educational settings. Improved familiarity with ASD is essential in increasing awareness and understanding among education professionals, ultimately improving short- and long-term outcomes for students diagnosed with this disorder
The Intersectionality of Race, Postpartum Depression, and Financial Stress
Get PDFPostpartum Depression (PPD) is a pervasive public health concern. Furthermore, PPD disproportionately affects African American women than other groups. Financial stress is a key predictor for developing PPD. Financial stress is mostly associated with poverty in the literature. The authors argue that financial stress needs to encompass the full range of financial realities that African American women face due to discrimination, oppression, and structural racism to comprehend the scope and reach of PPD fully. The authors also offer strategies for mediating the effects of financial stress on overall well-being and implications for practice
