The Theological and Ethical Visual Dimensions of Pleasure and Suffering in the Grave in the Perspective of the Prophet's Hadith
The grave realm is often also called the supernatural realm. The grave is described as an intermediary between the day of death and the day of resurrection. Many people are asking about what life is like after being in the world. They are worried about their fate after the last breath, the grave becomes a mystery that makes us want to know what the conditions of life are after being in the world. In the Islamic tradition, life after death is an important aspect of faith. It is believed that the grave is a transitional period before Judgment Day, where people experience joy and suffering based on their deeds in this life. The Prophet's hadith discusses a lot about the reality of life in the grave and provides an overview of the spiritual condition of human beings after death. The theological and ethical aspects of the pleasures and sufferings of the grave are topics that are often discussed in Islamic studies, although some aspects still need further clarification. Although there is a lot of research on the afterlife, there is still a lack of explaining how the pleasures and sufferings of the grave realm are from the perspective of prophetic tradition, especially from a theological and ethical perspective. In addition, there is no clear mapping of how these dimensions affect the daily moral life of Muslims. The purpose of this study is to analyze in depth the theological and ethical aspects of pleasure and suffering in the grave based on the hadiths of the Prophets. This research will explore how these hadiths describe the theological conception of life after death and its moral implications for Muslims in this life. Thus, this research is expected to deepen our understanding of the role of pleasure and suffering in the grave in shaping the ethical behavior of Muslims.
Formulasi Islamic Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) untuk Mencapai Demokratisasi Ekonomi Syariah
The rapid growth of financial technology has reshaped global economic structures and accelerated the diffusion of Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) schemes, which commonly rely on interest‑based deferred payments. In Muslim‑majority jurisdictions such as Indonesia, this raises controversy over the permissibility of BNPL, given its riba‑like charges and opaque fee structures, alongside a regulatory gap that has not yet been addressed through a dedicated Islamic BNPL framework. This article examines that gap by asking, first, how a Sharia‑compliant BNPL model can be normatively formulated? and second, how such a model can contribute to achieving Sharia economic democracy? Using normative legal research based on historical and systematic interpretation, and employing conceptual, statute, and comparative approaches, the study analyses BNPL regulation and practice in Qatar, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The findings show that current Indonesian BNPL products embed riba, gharar, and unjust enrichment, whereas Qatar and Malaysia have begun to redesign BNPL through Murabaha, Ijarah, and Qard contracts under explicit Sharia governance and consumer‑protection rules. The study then proposes a legal‑contractual model for Islamic BNPL that combines fixed‑price or cost‑based fees, transparent contractual disclosure, capped non‑profit penalties, and formal Sharia supervision, operationalised through indicators of access, affordability, transparency, anti‑exploitation, and ethical governance. The article concludes by recommending that Indonesian regulators adopt a specific Islamic BNPL act, integrate Islamic supervisory mechanisms, and standardise consumer‑protection safeguards so that Islamic BNPL can function as an instrument of inclusive finance and Sharia‑based economic democracy.
Multicultural Education from an Islamic Perspective: Building Intercultural Tolerance in Indonesian Primary Schools
This study aims to explore how multicultural education from an Islamic perspective contributes to building intercultural tolerance in Indonesian primary schools. The research was conducted at SDN Pace 01 in the Silo District of Jember Regency using a qualitative case study design. Participants included teachers, students, parents, and the principal. This case study design was chosen because it allows researchers to deeply explore the processes, interactions, and specific contexts of the school as a cohesive system. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, student surveys, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model alongside thematic analysis. The findings reveal that Islamic values such as tasamuh (tolerance), ukhuwah (brotherhood), and adl (justice) are consistently integrated into pedagogical practices, including collaborative learning, storytelling, and reflective classroom discussions. Students demonstrated high levels of tolerance toward linguistic, ethnic, and religious diversity, with collaboration emerging as the strongest indicator of this tolerance. However, challenges include limited teacher training in multicultural pedagogy and parental concerns about maintaining Islamic identity. The study concludes that Islamic-based multicultural education provides a practical framework for fostering intercultural competence from an early age while preserving religious identity. The results have significant implications for teacher professional development, curriculum innovation, and community engagement, and suggest directions for future research across broader contexts and with the integration of digital learning platforms
Papuan EFL Students’ Perception in Using Deactivate Read Receipts of WhatsApp during Students and Lecturer’s Communication
The use of the deactivate read receipts feature has become increasingly common among various groups, including students. However, its use has sparked both positive and negative responses. This study aims to investigate students’ perceptions of this feature within the context of academic communication, particularly in interactions with lecturers. Moreover, it explores the implications arising from deactivating read receipts in such communication. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the study involved twelve EFL students and four lecturers as participants. Data were collected through online observation and semi-structured interviews. Online observation involved gathering screenshots of chat interactions between students and lecturers, while interviews were conducted using an interview guide and audio recordings. The collected data were analyzed using discourse analysis, comprising four stages: data recording, transcription, selection, and interpretation. The findings reveal three dimensions of student perception. First, the cognitive dimension reflects that the feature is perceived as impolite in academic contexts but considered normal in non-academic contexts. Second, the affective dimension shows that it can evoke both emotional discomfort and neutrality. Third, the conative dimension includes tendencies toward message resending and communication uncertainty. Additionally, the deactivation of read receipts has been found to lead to miscommunication and foster negative assumptions on the part of the message recipient toward the sender. Consequently, further research is recommended to explore this phenomenon in greater depth

INTERNALIZATION OF RELIGIOUS VALUES IN THE PROGRESSIVE EDUCATION PRACTICE AT PONDOK PESANTREN AL-AMANAH MODERN JUNWANGI SIDOARJO
This study aims to analyze the process of internalizing religious values within the practice of progressive education at Pondok Pesantren Al-Amanah Modern Junwangi Sidoarjo, “especially through the Sanggar Tahfidz Entrepreneur program. The selection of this topic is based on the need to develop an Islamic education model that not only emphasizes spiritual dimensions but is also relevant to the demands of the 21st century. This research employs a qualitative field research approach using in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving teachers, administrators, and students. The findings show that religious values such as sincerity, discipline, trustworthiness, responsibility, and patience are internalized through habituation, role modeling, and various tahfidz activities, including recitation submission, muroja’ah, mentoring, and strengthening Qur’anic etiquette. Meanwhile, progressivism principles are manifested through experiential learning (learning by doing), democratic participation, and reflective evaluation, as reflected in entrepreneurial activities ranging from production and digital marketing to business management. The integration of both aspects produces a holistic educational model in which religious values are not merely understood cognitively but are lived through real-life experiences that shape spiritual character, independence, creativity, and critical thinking skills. These findings affirm that pesantren education can adapt progressively without losing its religious identity
