Design & Implementation of Hand Gesture controlled Security System using AVR Microcontroller
The idea is inspired by the popular mobile phone unlock feature where basically you draw a pattern on the screen and the phone unlocks. We wanted to create a similar system which could be used in any security application, as simple as opening the door of the house based on the gesture. The attractive feature of this article is that the user makes the pattern in the air and not on any surface. Also, we have given the user the flexibility of changing the pattern whenever he wishes to do so.The whole idea is to provide a fully functional product to the user who can interface the system to any electronically controllable device. The user can himself create patterns, store them and open the device only by him, giving him the freedom to lock and unlock the device without any kind of key required
Methods used for Robot Obstacle Avoidance in Difficult Environments
Obstacle Avoidance is the method of avoiding obstacles without any collisions with them hence protect robot from any physical damages. Obstacle avoidance strategy and working of robot is greatly dependent on the detection of obstacles by sensors and corresponding response of robot. This article mainly deals with some very famous methods used for Obstacle Avoidance, like. Obstacle Restriction Method (ORM), Nearness Diagram obstacle avoidance algorithm, Vector Field Histogram (VFH) algorithm etc.
Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV): Efficient Combination of Conventional Internal Combustion Engine Propulsion System with an Electric Propulsion System
Hybrid electric vehicles are the most efficient vehicles and also rapidly growing traction in the global automotive market. Many OEM’s (Original Equipment Manufacturers) are working on new hybrid electric vehicles and electric vehicles. They mainly consist of Engine and Motor to produce torque and generator to regenerate power. This combination of two distant power sources, engine and electric motor will increase the efficiency of the vehicle. Hybrid electric vehicles will also reduce the use of gasoline and diesel fuel therefore eco- friendly. Mainly research in sophisticated engine, efficient motors, power electronics, high power density batteries, power train, exhaust systems are major areas in designing to increase overall efficiency of hybrid electric vehicles. Highly efficient motors and generators are used in vehicles to reduce the fuel consumption for transportation
Effect of Cullet on the Color of White Body
In recent time, there is a growing interest in resource recovery from solid wastes which include using cullet (waste glasses) as a substitute in the formulation of ceramic bodies. All these studies hardly consider the effect of cullet on the color of the bodies so composed. This article presents a review on color and reports the investigation on the effect of cullet addition on the color of a white ceramic body. The extent to which cullet additions alter the color of white clay body was studied. Compositions of white-firing clay with various proportions of milled cullet were prepared. Ten test pieces were made for each group of test sample containing 0-100 parts CRT cullet powder. The colors and variation in the shades of hues was assessed by visual judgment, using a multiple comparisons test to determine the color differences. Results show that the addition of cullet significantly affects the whiteness of the clay body, though there are 3 groups within which there are no appreciable differences namely: 0-10parts cullet, 20part cullet and 30-50parts cullet; and that the higher the cullet addition the darker the color becomes
A Review on Performance of Grid-Connected Photovoltaic System
India is located on the equatorial belt of the globe, thus receiving almost 5.8-6.8 kWh/m2/day radiation from the Sun. The total equivalent energy potential is about 6000 million GWh of energy per year. The maximum annual radiation is received in Rajasthan and Northern Gujarat. In this area, a big part of land is desert and very less populated, making it most suitable for solar power generation by constructing solar photovoltaic plants. Data for this study article are received from one of the SPV plants situated in Rajasthan. All the insolation received cannot be converted into electricity as the performance of such solar photovoltaic system depends on a variety of influencing factors including losses in design system and other environmental factors.
Communication Protocol Development using Multiple Hop Technique for Data Transfer in Wireless Sensor Network
A wireless sensor network consists of spatially distributed autonomous sensors which cooperatively monitor physical or environmental conditions such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion or pollutants. The sensors in the wireless sensor network are deployed over a large area. These sensors have limited power and in some applications it is impractical to change or recharge the battery so the power consumption is main constraint in wireless sensor network. One of the way by which the power consumption of each node can be reduced is by using multiple hop technique for data transfer in the network. In this article, a simple communication protocol is developed which allows the sensor nodes to communicate with the base station or central node using multiple hops. The data is transferred from source to destination using RF communication. The implementation is done using ANSI C as the programming language
Go Karting-Vehicle Identification Using MiFare RFID
The main aim of this work is to design a system which automatically identify the vehicle and record the count of number of Laps covered by the vehicle at the Go-Carting LAP area and efficient tracking of time consumed by the customer driving the vehicle for each LAP. This system will also be capable of shutting down the engine after the designated laps have been completed by the patron
Design of Microcontroller based Adjustable Arm for Robotic Picking and Placing Operation
PC based remote control car using hyper-terminal deals with the 8051 microcontroller programming, DC motors of 500 R.P.M. & 60 R.P.M. The base of the circuit also deals with the robot arm. The main aim of the arm deals with the DC motor. The main function of the arm is that it picks up the obstacle coming near robot and place side to it. In another way the arm acts as the obstacle removal coming to the path of robot. Its main application can be compared with JCB Crane which is used for the construction sites .The main requirement is the rough surface for the wheels and the some 10 to 100 grams of obstacle to show the demonstration. This application can also be used for the picking up of the household works like picking up the small application. The maximum weight that the robotic arm can pick up is 100 gram. Virtual Instrumentation Approach for Mechatronics Based Applications Development
This research work has intended to identify the cluster of Mechatronics where the application of Virtual Instrumentation can be used. One can apply the concept of VI for developing different applications of Mechatronics like unmanned water, ground and air vehicles, robotics, machines etc. The graphical tool used in VI such as LabVIEW can be used in various applications of Mechatronics. The features in LabVIEW like faster programming, hardware integration, advance analysis, data display and user interface, stand-alone etc. because of which in became so popular among engineers for developing different applications of Mechatronics. It gives a better idea that how the concept of VI can be used for developing different applications of Mechatronics. Here in this paper author describes in detail by taking an example of Robotic Arm that how such implementations can be done using power of LabVIEW
