The Czech reading of Norwid: history of reception

Autorka opisuje dzieje recepcji twórczości C. K. Norwida w Czechach począwszy od pierwszych wzmianek (J. V. Frič w piśmie "Rodinná kronika" w 1863 roku) poprzez omówienie stosunku do poety twórców kręgu pism "Slovanský přehled" (red. XX wieku. The author describes long history of reception of C. K. Norwid\u27s work in the Czech lands, starting from the first mentions (J. V. Frič in "Rodinná kronika", 1863) by discussing the attitude of the editors of reviews "Slovanský přehled" (ed. Adolf Černý), "Moderní revue" and Catholic writers (especially those connected with so-called Catholic Modern) to the sumptuous translations and editions by Jan Pilař from the 1970s and 1980s

The fundamentals of Rudolf Pokorny\u27s reflection "Czechoslovak Literary Consensus" and the theoretical background of Czech-Slovak reciprocity

Rudolf Pokorný, autor teoretickej úvahy Literární shoda československá, v diele definoval svoj postoj k česko-slovenskej vzájomnosti a predstavil vlastné teoretické stanovisko vychádzajúce z jazykovej otázky. Rudolf Pokorný, the author of theoretical study Czechoslovak Literary Consensus defined his attitude towards Czech-Slovak reciprocity and presented his own theoretical position based on the language issue. He supported literary Slovak language, acknowledged its justification, and prepared a compromise but to some extent controversial solution. There had been a shift in the author\u27s understanding - the idea of reciprocity is no longer an existential question, but a question of further development. He tried to cover both, the Slovak, and the Czech spectrum of opinions, and focused on proving both positive and dissenting views on the Slovak literary language and its further direction. He supported further development of the Slovak literary language on the basis of rationally argued existence of Slovak language as a relevant feature of national identity and its necessity for the national literature

The presented study is trying to analyze the development of the image of the president\u27s birthday celebrations in 1919–1953. The day was one of the most important rituals during the common year. It was also one of the key factors in forming of the collective memory of the Czechoslovak society at that time. That was especially valid in the years when the independent Czechoslovak state was endangered. By comparison, the study is trying to show, how the form of the feast has changed during the reflected period, which was characteristic by dynamic changes of regimes and ideologies

Řehoř Wolny (1793–1871), Benedictine of Rajhrad and his contribution to the general and ecclesiastical topography of Moravia

The authors use the example of the personality of Tomáš Řehoř Wolny (1793–1871) to describe the development of historical topography in Moravia in the 19th century, following the founding work of František Josef Schwoy (1742–1806). Wolny, who upon his entrance to the Benedictine monastery in Rajhrad near Brno in 1817 adopted the order name Gregor, was also an avid researcher-historian. Although his life and professional destiny has already been examined in earlier Czech and Austrian historiography, his work has unfortunately not yet been comprehensively evaluated, not only in terms of the methodological procedures Wolny used, but also in reflecting on his monumental works dealing with general and ecclesiastical topography in contemporary research. The aim of the presented paper is to at least partially fill in this gap in current knowledge
