Historical accounting terminology in the Czech lands in the Middle Ages and the early modern period : points for discussion
In the Middle Ages and early modern period, a specific accounting system was used in the Czech lands, known as so-called administrative accounting. The accounting categories and principles of this system were not the same as those used by single-entry and double-entry bookkeeping. The aim of the article is to show with selected accounting terms and categories their semantic variability and thereby start a discussion on accounting terminology that has been thus far absent in the Czech environment
Od přímé součásti Říše po říšskému knížectví – kontinuity a diskontinuity
The roots of the Imperial Principality of Liechtenstein reach back to the late Middle Ages. In 1342, the County of Vaduz came into being, and in 1379 its owners were granted important privileges of jurisdiction (freedom from foreign judges). From 1396 to 1719, imperial immediacy was confirmed more than 25 times by the emperors. From 1500, the sovereigns were recognized as imperial estates. Over some 300 years the dynasties changed five times. With the exception of the Princes of Liechtenstein, all of them were economically too weak to ensure continuity over a longer period of time. This was only possible for the Princes of Liechtenstein, who bought the domain of Schellenberg in 1699 and the County of Vaduz in 1712. Greater continuity and thus the centuries-long existence of the small but immediate county was made possible by the Holy Roman Empire, its laws and its institutions
Lichtenštejnsko v evropských dějinách : ad honorem Peter Geiger
In its first part, the present article presents the role of Peter Geiger as an historian and as cochairman of the Liechtenstein-Czech Commission of Historians. PD Dr. Peter Geiger has been the co-chairman of the Liechtenstein-Czech Commission of Historians for the last ten years. Between 2010 and 2020, he was one of its basic building blocks. In the commission, Associate Professor Geiger dealt mainly with the modern history of Liechtenstein and selected aspects of Liechtenstein-Czech relations. He prepared a crucial article on how frequently Czechoslovak and Czech topics figured in the pages of the Liechtenstein press, and thus what impression the ordinary citizen of the Principality of Liechtenstein could form of the original homeland of their princes. In the context of his research into Liechtenstein continuities and discontinuities, he again described the transformation of Liechtenstein from a somewhat marginal territory within the Liechtenstein states into the centre of life of the princely family. Peter Geiger\u27s professional interest in the Liechtenstein-Czech Commission of Historians was divided between the history of the family and the history of the country and its inhabitants, especially in the area of property gains and losses. He therefore wrote two fundamental studies on the topic of the "Liechtensteins, Liechtenstein and Czechoslovakia in the 20th Century". The first of these deals with the efforts of the Liechtenstein family from 1938–1945 to regain and save the property they lost in connection with the so-called first land reform. Geiger\u27s articles on the expropriation of Liechtenstein citizens living in Czechoslovakia after 1945 can thus be considered a fundamental topic. In the second part of the article, other contributions are then thematised and contextualised; these included in this "Liechtenstein" volume of the Studia Historica Brunensia journal

Immigrant children\u27s support of their school adaptation : an insight into the Czech and Norwegian practice
Ten mimo jiné připomíná nutnost posílení podpory spolupráce školy a rodičů-cizinců v českém i norském prostředí. ,The publication deals with the topic of immigrant children\u27s school adaptation, which is being looked at from the Czech and Norwegian perspectives. The ambition of the monograph is to inspire or provide feedback to educational policymakers, teachers, and academics, as well as to reveal in more detail the practice of one more experienced state in supporting the school adaptation of immigrant children. The author divided the text into two parts. Firstly, she looks at the key topic from the theoretical perspective and available pedagogical research. In the second part, the author pays attention to the presentation of her survey, which looks at the topic from the perspective of three levels: state, regional, and school. The survey was conceived as a qualitative comparative study based on content analysis and case studies of Czech and Norwegian primary schools. The main result of the survey is the creation of a model to support the school adaptation of immigrant children. Among other things, it points to the need to strengthen support for cooperation between the school and immigrant parents in the Czech and Norwegian environments. It also points to the regional level as a critical link mediating information, knowledge, and needs between the state and school levels in the field of support for foreign children. The regional level, especially in the Czech environment, proved to be insufficiently represented in the whole process. These and other findings led to reflections on the importance of the so-called symbolic policy and substantive policy in the field of support for school adaptation of immigrant children and their forms in the Czech and Norwegian environment. The publication also results in a discussion about the current state of assimilation and multicultural tendencies in the Czech and Norwegian environments
Nicolaus Zangius : the musician at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries : the life of an unknown
,Nicolaus Zangius (ca. 1568–1617) was a musician with a rather restless character, always seeking a more ideal patron. Zangius worked as a Kapellmeister in Iburg, Danzig, at the Liechtenstein court in Moravia and finally in Berlin, between 1602 and 1612 he also held the position of a servant at the Emperor\u27s court in Prague. The book reflects Zangius\u27 career and his position or social status in the society of the early seventeenth century. It includes a discussion on his printed (and yet not always published) works. The book deals closely with the life of Charles of Liechtenstein (1569–1627), one of the wealthiest Moravian aristocrats and the governor of Moravia in the years 1604 to 1607. As a part of his court, he established a music ensemble and appointed Nicolaus Zangius as its head. Enclosed CD Nicolaus Zangius: Cantiones sacrae
The Sisyphean discipline : a précis of "An Unnatural History of Religions"
The present contribution offers a recapitulation of the author\u27s book entitled An Unnatural History of Religions: Academia, Post-truth and the Quest for Scientific Knowledge (2019). The book is intended to offer a most comprehensive account of the History of Religions as an academic discipline, from its inception as a Victorian science of religion to the postmodern rejection of master narratives and from the birth of contemporary Religious Studies to the recent resurgence of cognitive and evolutionary approaches. One of the major themes to emerge from the historiographical analysis is the constant disciplinary temptation to move aside scientific explanations in favour of fideistic redescriptions. Ever struggling to come to terms with science, the historical study of religions in all the major national schools of the past considered here has reaffirmed time and again the absolute value of religion as epistemic truth, delegitimizing, depreciating, and discarding scientific and rational tools as useless for grasping the inner core of human consciousness
