Nemo contra Deum nisi Deus ipse : Who can question Blumenberg except for Blumenberg himself

    Get PDF
The paper "Who Can Question Blumenberg Except for Blumenberg Himself" brings forward the question of which factors and features of the philosophy of this German thinker of the second half of the 20th century make it the case that he has moved away from academic mainstream and given philosophy back the typical characteristics of German philosophical tradition: erudition, cultivated character, adequacy, good taste in the selection of vital problems and their solutions, and, above all, critical thinking, which, on the journey between the peaks of Kant and Blumenberg himself, frequently waned, disappeared in dark gorges of being and time and vanished in polished aesthetics of the hermeneutics of God\u27s intentions. The study focuses on Blumenberg\u27s concept of actio per distans, which, combined with the theory of absolute metaphor and cognitive metaphor, gives rise to his historical phenomenology and politically, economically and phenomenologically oriented anthropology. At the end, the author mentions the problem of \u27metametaphorics\u27, which is newly developed as a project based on a deep misunderstanding of Blumenberg\u27s metaphorology: the paper presents several arguments proving a discrepancy between metaphorology and metametaphorics, derived primarily from Blumenberg\u27s theory of (the constant cultural reproduction of) myth

Between Münster and München : two biographical notes on Hans Blumenberg

    Get PDF
The paper presents and discusses two previously unanalyzed biographical stories from Blumenberg\u27s life that took place between Münster and Munich. The first one discusses the unsuccessful efforts of E. Grassi in the early 1970s to appoint Blumenberg to a professorship at the University of Munich. The second analyzes the cooperation between H. Blumenberg and M. Krüger, who published the magazine Akzente, where Blumenberg published 17 texts. The study draws on archival materials contained in the estate of H. Blumenberg and E. Grassi in Marbach and also takes into account correspondence between Blumenberg and M. Krüger

Framing deceptive dynamics in terms of abductive cognition

    Get PDF
I propose an analysis of deception as the activity of intentionally misleading other agents\u27 hypothetical inferences. Understanding deception in this way has the advantages of clarifying the epistemological and cognitive dynamics involved in deception. Indeed, if deception can be framed as the intentional manipulation of others\u27 hypothetical inferences so that they will accept the false or disadvantageous hypotheses, then a better understanding of the epistemological and cognitive dynamics involved in deception will emerge by clarifying how abduction works. Tracing it back to Peirce\u27s analysis, I will focus on recent perspectives on abduction, which stress the inherent strategic character of abductive cognition and offer a realistic description of the reasoners\u27 capabilities and their scant resources, both internal (computational power) and external (time and information available). To support and substantiate my thesis, I will examine psychological analyses of military deception. I will conclude by remarking the advantages of the thesis here presented to better understand the epistemological dynamics of deception and by highlighting the questions it leaves open for further investigations

General problems of diplomatics of early and late modern period

    No full text
The article deals with the causes of insufficient reflection of written production in the early and late modern period. It identifies the amount of documents and the issue of their division as the main obstacles to research insofar as they are a prerequisite for mastering the written material. Other problems relate to terminology issues (giving the same document different names), diplomatic terminology\u27s over reliance on archival practice and the uneven depth of development in the various areas of early and late modern diplomatics

Fiodor Mikhailovich Dostoevskij – theme and character

    Get PDF
The text focused on selected authors\u27 intentions to bring the personality of Fiodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky closer to him. Three books are devoted to selected sections of Dostoevsky\u27s life in a different genre. The core of genre difference lies in the genological issue of three texts that work with fact and fiction. The genre form was decided by the available material and documents that are being worked on and the tendency to provide a historical biography, an authorial reconstruction as an interesting or exceptional specific sequence from life or a literary story to convey the human portrait of a famous writer

The author reflects on the Slavic heritage of the scientist, educator and priest Josef Vašica, who not only an interpreter of the Great Moravian era, but dealt with issues of translation of the Holy Scriptures (Bible) and Old Bohemian texts and is considered to be the discoverer of the Czech literary baroque. He came from Silesia, a region where several nations and nationalities have met since ancient times. Vašica intended to study the multilayered region from the earliest times, especially in terms of language (Silesia as a mediator of the oldest Slavic culture). Later, Vašica\u27s scientific interests extended beyond the region, and Vašica also dealt with other issues of Paleoslavic and Slavic studies. This paper deals with his contribution to the study of Constantine and Methodius and their heritage. Vasica\u27s work is limited by the time of origin and the level of knowledge; however, his works can be inspiring for the science of the 21st century
