Issues Concerning Ageing Population in Kampot and Takeo Provinces, Cambodia, and the Implications of the Cambodia National Ageing Policy 2017-2030
This article assesses the issues concerning the ageing population in Takeo province and Kampot province, Cambodia, and the implications of the Cambodia National Ageing Policy (NAP) 2017-2030 in addressing those issues. By interviewing fifty randomly selected participants aged 60 and older, the findings revealed that the NAP 2017-2030 has not positively impacted the elderly population in Cambodia as it promised. The current generation of elderly Cambodians are Khmer Rouge conflict survivors and are financially insecure and rely on their adult children for financial support and caretaking. By closely examining the NAP 2017-2030 action plan, this study found many implications that led to slow progress and ineffectiveness. The paper concludes with a discussion on the significant issues concerning the ageing population in Cambodia today and the need for the Cambodian government to commit to implementing this ageing policy effectively

Previous studies have investigated the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on different aspects of tourism behaviour. However, research on a specific generational group, Generation Z, is still limited. This exploratory study aims to examine, for members of this generation, the effect of the perceived risk of COVID-19 and non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPI) on their intention to travel and, in turn, whether this intention influences their willingness to pay extra to benefit from additional safety measures. With this approach, a Structural Equations methodology has been applied based on 629 surveys received and using SmartPLS 3.0 to analyse them. The results showed that the higher the travel intention of Gen Z, the higher the individual's willingness to pay for additional security measures, the perceived risk of COVID-19 positively influences the NPI taken and in turn, these NPI influence a higher travel intention. However, the authors have not found a significant effect between the perceived risk and Gen Z's intention to travel. Finally, they discuss the theoretical and practical implications of the results, providing suggestions for the recovery of Gen Z tourism after the pandemic.
This article aims to expose the oral history and memoirs of the Holocaust of Roma and Sinti through emotions. The main purpose is to raise awareness this genocide through the direct testimonies of Roma survivors based on the line of studies known as the history of emotions. In this regard, oral history and memoirs are the primary source of this article. It focuses specifically on two accounts, Walter Stanoski Winter and Ceija Stojka, who gave an interview to the USC Shoah Foundation in 1998. Their experiences will be analysed using emotions as a line of study. The emotions chosen in this article are joy, fear, distress/anguish, shame, guilt and anger. The result is the presentation of the Roma and Sinti Holocaust based on a different narrative, in which the survivors are the drivers and protagonists and emotions are the language used.
This historical study has been carried out with the aim of identifying the educational work in health carried out by the health-social educators (‘divulgadoras’) of the Falange´s ‘Sección Femenina’ Travelling Chairs (‘Cátedras Ambulantes’) in the province of Huelva during the period from 1956 to 1977, consulting primary sources found in the Provincial Historical Archive of Huelva. Through the Puericulture and Hygiene Program, the Exemplary Mothers course, the First Aid course and other specific actions, the aim was to improve Hygiene and Public Health in the 61 municipalities where the Chair was active, reaching a large part of the population of these rural areas. The main beneficiaries were women, but men also participated in this training, receiving Hygiene courses. The ‘divulgadora’ of the ‘Cátedra Ambulante’ was supported by other health agents in her educational work, mainly by the local doctor, nurse, or sanitary personnel from companies in the area. The high attendance and motivation for the Health Education program was impelled by the applicability of learning in everyday life to meet the need to improve the state of health in an environment with scarce resources.
This essay proposes the mythopoetical approach to Minoan material culture in contemporary artistic practice. First, from archaeological sources, its uniqueness is emphasized, from which significant learnings can be obtained and a holistic approach to current gender, spiritual and environmental debates. Secondly, attention is paid to one of his pictorial programs, proposed here as a paradigmatic example in the convergence of Minoan art, society, economy, and religion. And thirdly, understanding that artistic practice can promote a more unitary and affective understanding of the world, a sculptural development is proposed with women positioned as the main subject, to contribute to the deconstruction of the dual paradigm that determines the relationships between people and as a contribution to feminist spirituality.
Resources mobilisation challenges in rural schools of South Africa: What can we learn?
Government efforts to provide equal and quality education in rural schools has yielded minimal change in South Africa since the dawn of democracy in 1994.Growing inequalities and recent economic constraints exacerbated by the COVID 19 pandemic have further exposed and deepened resource scarcity among rural communities and schools. The South African Schools Act (1996) is clear that, through school stakeholders such as School Governing Bodies (SGB’s), schools are required to supplement resources provided by the State. However, there is a paucity of research that explores resource mobilisation challenges experienced by school stakeholders in rural schools of South Africa. The article is based on a qualitative research study, supported by the Asset-based theory and Resource mobilisation theory. To collect data, we used participatory approaches such as the Free Attitude Interviews (FAI) and SWOT analysis. Four main findings emerged from the data, which were used to make recommendations to address and improve the quality of education in rural communities
Despite the fact that in recent times there have been considerable advances in equality and in the representation of women in the cultural industries, there are still sectors in this field, specifically the art sector, where persists the under-representation of goods produced by women. The main objective of this article is to investigate the persistence of this bias in the main spaces of legitimation of artistic assets such as museums, institutions and cultural centers that program contemporary art in the last ten years. To do this, a quantitative analysis has been carried out methodologically on the rate of women exhibiting their artistic work, the rate of women curators and that of leadership and management positions, taking as a case study the main artistic institutions of the city of Alicante from 2011 to 2021. As a result of this work, it is worth mentioning a slight improvement towards the proportionality of women and men in the art exhibitions held in the period studied.
Elder abuse is a central concern in Canada’s aging population. Our qualitative findings from a mixed methods study on risk factors for elder abuse in Toronto Arabic-speaking immigrant communities identified key risk factors that make these older adults vulnerable to elder abuse. These factors intersect at the individual (e.g., language barrier), community (e.g., discrimination), and societal (e.g., lack of access to employment) levels. The results can inform strategies to mitigate elder abuse in Arabic-speaking communities.
“Cooperation” is a concept that led to the success of several collectives benefitting smallholder farmers in India. However, if we carefully examine the collectives, it is evident that some collectives succeeded whereas, some failed in India. This article attempted to explore the history of collectives in India. Primary data for this study were collected from the RBI archive museum based in Pune. Based on the activities involved in the promotion of collectives, the phases of evolution can be classified as the Preparatory phase (Before 1904), Evolution phase (1904-1930), Assessment phase (1930-1947) and Action phase (1947-1990) and Post-Liberalization developments. This study concludes that policy makers should focus on working capital, free riding, and legal problems related to licenses, filings, capital infrastructure and capacity building. Optimum size of the cooperatives and antecedent of success can be the future areas of research.
