All rights reserved.This text proposes to offer some notes on the poetic writing of María Monvel (Iquique 1897–Santiago 1936), a Chilean writer whose work, from beginning to end, is worthy of recognition. Her poetry has traditionally been identified with themes of emotions and amorous feelings of various kinds. Probing light neutralinos from pair-produced sleptons with displaced vertices at the high-luminosity LHC
We study light neutralinos χ ~ 1 0 with masses ranging from 10 GeV to several hundred GeV within the framework of R-parity-violating (RPV) supersymmetry. These light neutralinos can be long-lived, decaying with a macroscopic displacement (order cm) inside the LHC main detectors. Complementing previous works on the subject, here we focus on their production through the electroweak pair production of left-chiral sleptons e ~ L , with the signal process pp → e ~ L + e ~ L − → e + χ ~ 1 0 e − χ ~ 1 0 . In contrast to the previous study with a singly produced slepton, where the RPV coupling λ 111 ′ induces both the production and decay of the light neutralino, in our scenario the production proceeds through Drell-Yan-like processes that are essentially independent of RPV couplings. Correspondingly, we implement a displaced-vertex search strategy for which our numerical analysis shows that the high-luminosity LHC can probe λ 111 ′ values up to three orders of magnitude smaller, and neutralino masses up to about four times larger than those accessible in the previously studied single-slepton production scenario

This paper seeks to show a thought of excess as a common and central element in the philosophies of Merleau-Ponty and Nancy, aiming to present an ontological affinity between them. Step-Wise Ethanol Adaptation Drives Cell-Wall Remodeling and ROM2/KNR4 Activation in Brettanomyces bruxellensis
Brettanomyces bruxellensis has been described as the main spoilage microorganism in wines due to its ability to produce volatile phenols, which negatively impact the final product’s organoleptic properties. This yeast can grow and survive in environments that are too nutritionally poor and stressful for other microorganisms, and one of the stressful conditions it can endure is the high alcohol content in wine. In this study, cell wall morphology and the expression of some genes related to its composition were characterized under increasing ethanol concentrations to establish a possible ethanol resistance mechanism. B. bruxellensis LAMAP2480 showed greater resistance to β-1,3-glucanase activity when grown in media supplemented with 5% or 10% ethanol compared with the control assay (without ethanol). Transmission electron microscopy showed no significant differences in cell wall thickness during the different adaptation stages. However, the amount of wall polysaccharides and chitin briefly increased at 1% ethanol but returned to baseline at 5% and 10%. The amount of wall-associated protein increased progressively with each increment in ethanol concentration. In addition, overexpression of the ROM2 and KNR4/SMI1 genes was observed at 10% ethanol. These results suggest that the integrity of the cell wall might play an important role in the adaptation of B. bruxellensis to an ethanol-containing medium

Estas estructuras, antes activos en la vida cultural y social de la ciudad, han sido relegados al abandono o a usos residuales, a pesar de su potencial para contribuir a la renovación urbana y la vida barrial.Esta investigación analiza la evolución y obsolescencia de estos espacios, explorando su capacidad de reutilización arquitectónica y programática en un contexto de crisis habitacional y escasez de suelo. A partir de un enfoque teórico y proyectual, se examina cómo estos espacios pueden transformarse en estructuras de soporte para la vivienda y el tejido comunitario, integrando programas que fortalezcan la vida barrial y rescatando su valor histórico y patrimonial

Beyond Starvation: Amplitude-Dependent Grease Replenishment Mechanisms in Oscillating Rolling Bearings
This experimental study addresses grease replenishment mechanisms under varying oscillation amplitudes for deep groove ball bearings with different cage structures. This is complemented by an optical elastohydrodynamic lubrication tribometer. Thereby, three distinct lubrication mechanisms are identified. At small amplitudes, lubrication of the contact area is primarily determined by the lubricant supply from the grease side bands. Under medium-amplitude conditions, interaction between the cage and the side bands on the rolling elements substantially enhances lubrication. At large amplitudes, when the rolling track on the rolling elements connects both the inner and outer rings, grease flow between the rings emerges as a dominant mechanism, effectively reducing wear
Understanding the association of intrapancreatic fat deposition with adiposity and components of metabolic syndrome in children and adolescents: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Background Intrapancreaticfat deposition is associated with increased cardiovascular risk in adults, but the association is less clear in children. Our goal in this work was therefore to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of the associations between intrapancreatic fat deposition with adiposity and components of metabolic syndrome in children and adolescents. Methods Systematic searches were conducted in MEDLINE, Web of Science, and Scopus from database inception to January 11, 2025 (registration number: CRD42022374159). Random-effects meta-analysis was performed to obtain pooled correlations estimates of the association of intrapancreatic fat deposition with various adiposity related outcomes (i.e., overall/central adiposity and specific fat depots; primary outcome) and cardiometabolic risk factors (i.e., glycaemic traits, insulin resistance/sensitivity, insulin secretion surrogates, plasma lipids, and blood pressure; secondary outcomes). Risk of bias and the quality of evidence were evaluated. Findings We identified a total of 252 studies, of which 15 unique studies (N = 1261 participants, mean age ranged 10.6–17.7 years, 44.4% females) were eligible for meta-analysis. Magnetic resonance imaging-measured intrapancreatic fat deposition showed a small to medium positive significant association with adiposity (n = 53 studies, r = 0.24 [95% CI:0.19; 0.29], I2 = 61.5%), impaired glycaemic traits and insulin sensitivity (n = 11 studies, r = 0.15 [95% CI:0.03; 0.26], I2 = 58.9%), and HDL levels (n = 7 studies, pooled r = 0.11 [95% CI: 0.01; 0.20], I2 = 0%), and increased blood pressure (n = 6 studies, pooled r = 0.15 [95% CI: 0.05; 0.25], I2 = 0%). Interpretation Intrapancreatic fat deposition may increase the risk of cardiometabolic disturbances in children. Therefore, it requires more attention in clinical research as an early indicator of ectopic fat deposition, insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. Longitudinal studies are necessary to understand the temporal dynamics of these associations and to determine the long-term impact of intrapancreatic fat deposition on the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases

Geological time is punctuated by events that define biostrata and the Geological Time Scale’s (GTS) hierarchy of eons, eras, periods, epochs, ages. Paleotemperatures and macroevolution rates, have already indicated that the range ≈ 1 Myr to (at least) several hundred Myrs is a scaling (hence hierarchical) “megaclimate” regime. We apply analysis techniques including Haar fluctuations, structure functions, trace moment and extended selfsimilarity to the temporal density of the boundary events (ρ(t)) of two global and four zonal series. We show that ρ(t) itself is a new paleoindicator and we determine the fundamental multifractal exponents characterizing the mean fluctuations, the intermittency and the degree of multifractality. The strong intermittency allows us to show that the (largest) megaclimate scale is at least ≈ 0.5 Gyr. We find that the tail of the probability distribution of the intervals (“gaps”) between boundaries is also scaling with an exponent qD ≈ 3.3 indicating huge variability with occasional very large gaps such that it’s third order statistical moment barely converges. The scaling in time implies that record incompleteness increases with its resolution (the “Resolution Sadler effect”), while scaling in probability space implies that incompleteness increases with sample length (the “Length Sadler effect”). The density description of event boundaries is only a useful characterization over time intervals long enough for there to be typically one or more events. In order to model the full range of scales and densities, we introduce a compound multifractal - Poisson process in which the subordinating multifractal process determines the probability of a Poisson event and that this new process is close to the observed statistics. Scaling changes our understanding of life and the planet and it is needed for unbiasing many statistical paleobiological and geological analyses, including unbiasing spectral analysis of the bulk of geodata that are derived from paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental archives
