A Proposed Color Palette Based on Experiment Ratings for Optimizing Presentation Slides - Assessment of impact on slide quality -
Get PDFWeb 上や卒業研究発表のスライドに対する23 名の実験協力者の評定結果に基づいて、新カラーパレットを作成した。続いて、8 名の実験協力者が一般的なカラーパレットと新カラーパレットを使用して作成した150 枚のプレゼンテーション・スライドを12 名に評定させたところ、カラーパレットの色数や使いやすさに対する満足度は向上したものの、好ましさ、見やすさが向上するという結果は得られなかった。カラーパレットというツールを使いやすくするだけでは、デザイン品質は向上しなかったことになる。その理由について作成過程のモデルに基づいて考察し、今後の研究課題を整理した。Based on 23 participant ratings of presentation slides obtained on the Web and from graduation thesis presentations, a color palette for presentation slide preparation was proposed. Eight participants created a total of 150 presentation slides using currently popular color palettes. The average ratings from twelve participants revealed only a minor difference overall between the two-color palette ratings, although the new color palette ratings for “satisfaction level with color number” and “usability of the color palette” were higher than the average rating for commonly used palette, indicating that the improved color palette has no effect on presentation slide quality. Analysis of Improvement in Students' English Writing Part 4: Changes in Writing after the Introduction of Rubric-Based Instruction and an Automated Scoring System for Measuring "Quality of Content"
Get PDF短期大学1年必修英語授業で，「内容の質」を含む「英文ライティング・ルーブリック」を配布して，それを繰り返し参照させながら指導を行った．さらに授業専用の「自動採点システム」を導入して学生に使用させた他，過去の学生の英文を典型事例として示した．その結果，事後のライティングテストでは，事前と比較して語数，順序を表すディスコースマーカー，その他のディスコースマーカー，be動詞エラー，because断片文エラー，for exampleエラー，Topic Developmentいずれにおいても，大幅な改善が見られた．学生アンケートでは，ルーブリック，自動採点システム，学生英文の典型事例としての先輩学生の英文のいずれにおいても，英文ライティング力向上のために有効に機能したと判断されるコメントが得られた．In a required first-year English class at a junior college, we distributed an "English Writing Rubric" that included a "Quality of Content" section and instructed students by repeatedly referring to it. In addition, an "automatic scoring system" for the specific purpose in class was introduced and used by the students. Also, past students' English writing was shown as an exemplar. As a result, the post-test showed a significant improvement compared to the pre-test in word count, discourse markers, be-verb errors, because-fragment errors, for example errors, and Topic Development compared to the pre-test. In the student questionnaires, the rubric, the automatic scoring system, and the exemplars of past students' English writing were all recognized as effective in improving English writing skills.departmental bulletin pape
The Symbolism of Gardens in Eighteen-Century Art and Literature: Nourishing Patriotism in Hagley Park by Eighteenth-Century Poets
Get PDFThis paper explains how the ideas of patriotism captured through the symbolic meanings of Hagley Park changed. It aims to understand how the patriotic idea of a late-eighteenth-century female author connected with a bluestocking circle was influenced by the male, pre-Romantic poet and had an impact on nineteenth-century British society. To this end, the paper focuses on the poems of the pre-Romantic poet, James Thomson, and Romantic poet, Anna Barbauld in terms of patriotic attitudes towards the nation. Making Classes for “Archives and Media Literacy”
Get PDF短期大学部本学科で表題の授業を2020 年度から担当している。「メディアリテラシー」は大学の授業科目に一般的に見かけるテーマだが、「アーカイブズ」と組み合わせた科目はそれほど多くないのではないか。この一見して異質な二つのテーマをどう組み合わせ、どう論じたらよいのか。高校卒業後、2 年間で社会に出て行く短期大学の学生が、この科目を身につける意義はどこにあるのか。さらに私自身の問題として、新聞記者をやりながら実務家教員として何ができるのか。試行錯誤しながら取り組んだ3 年間の授業内容を記録すると共に、授業作りを今後どのように進化させたらよいのかを考察した。I have been teaching a junior college “Media Literacy” class since FY2020 while working as a news reporter. “Media literacy” is a common theme in university courses, but few courses combine it with “archives.” How can these two seemingly dissimilar themes be combined and discussed? What does this subject offer junior college students after they graduate? And what can I do for students as a news reporter? The Relationship between the Chitose Club and Utako Shimoda: An Investigation of Shimoda’s Handwritten Hanging Scrolls Recently Found in Iwamura-cho, Ena City, Gifu, and the Activities of the Chitose Club
Get PDFAn investigation in 2022 revealed two hanging scrolls written by Utako Shimoda. It also showed that the Chitose Club was present in Iwamura. This paper reports on an investigation of the Chitose Club and the relationship between Shimoda and the club.
The results show that these scrolls were presented to members of the Chitose Club in January 1913. One of authenticated note shows that the club contributed to the building of a dormitory for the Women’s Section of Iwamura Technical Continuation School, which was completed in December 1912. The investigation further showed that there were 15 members in the Chitose Club and that most of them were from the younger generations of important families in Iwamura.
After the Meiji Restration, Chishinkan Chishin (Giko, Chishin School) was established in Iwamura, Japan The name was changed to Gan-yu Elementary School, with the kanji meaningof “Iwamura,” and a sewing course was established alongside the school. It was the predecessor of the Women’s Section of the Technical Continuation School, established in 1903. A dormitory was built for female students living far from the school. The two hanging scrolls were presented to the club members as a memento of the contribution of the dormitory and endowment.
Koide Kumazo, a member of the club, had a younger sister, Sen, who was familiar with Shimoda. Sen got married via Shimoda’s match-making around the same time as the scrolls were presented. Shimoda, Kumazo, and Sen are included in some pictures from the wedding ceremony. It is likely that Kumazo or Sen asked Shimoda to write poetry on the scrolls.
The Women’s Section of the Technical Continuation School became a Keinan Practical Women’s School; this school is known to have had close relationships with Shimoda. This investigation illustrates part of the previously unknown relationship between Shimoda and the predecessor school. The newly discovered materials are remarkable in that they show Shimoda’s interaction with people in Iwamura around 1913.departmental bulletin pape
