Code for: Advancing Transparency and Reproducibility: Criteria for Documenting Research Synthesis Processes and Data

    No full text
This study addresses the adaptation of research synthesis standards in social, educational, and psychological sciences. It emphasizes the need for comprehensive documentation and adherence to reporting guidelines and FAIR principles to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and data reuse. Existing guidelines like PRISMA and FAIR guide documentation but lack specifics on making methodological data accessible. The study aims to develop a set of criteria to document review processes and data, enhancing reproducibility in psychology and education. Using a sample of 100 systematic reviews within these disciplines, it evaluates the adherence to these criteria. The results will reveal the extent of documentation rigor, identify missing elements, and inform recommendations for improving research synthesis documentation. The study's findings will contribute to standardizing synthesis documentation, promoting transparency and collaboration in the scientific community.unknownunknow

Responsibilization and delegitimization of young people's climate action in traditional and digital media messages

    No full text
This essay explores the discursive responsibilization of young people for mitigating climate change, alongside the delegitimization of youth environmental activism as observed in both traditional and digital media. It also considers the potential consequences of such responsibilization for young people’s mental health and well-being. The analysis begins by examining the individualization of responsibility in the context of climate injustice—highlighting the unequal distribution of both the burden of mitigation and vulnerability to climate impacts across individuals, groups, and societies, shaped by intersecting identities such as age, class, race, and gender. Drawing on feminist concepts of wilfulness and 'weak resistance,' we apply these ideas to analyze discursive practices by and about young climate activists. We identify two distinct media responses to the everyday resistance and participation of young people, such as those involved in the School Strike for Climate. Brutal delegitimization (discursive violence) portrays young activists as lacking rationality, moral authority, and subjectivity, while soft delegitimization (discursive questioning) frames their actions as flawed and in need of adult guidance. Ultimately, we interpret the intersection of responsibilization and delegitimization as an oppressive double bind that shapes the affective atmosphere surrounding youth mental health. The essay concludes with a reflection on the justice and inclusivity of current conceptualizations of climate anxiety.notReviewedothe

    No full text

Diagnostische Kompetenz trifft Inklusion? Zusammenhänge zwischen Wissen und Einstellung bei Lehrpersonen

    No full text

Test development Observing Parent-Child Interaction Inventory OPCII-1.0

    No full text
Current observational measures of parent-child interaction often lack factorial validity and theoretical connectivity between suggested scales. We present the Observing Parent-Child Interaction Inventory (OPCII-1.0), which is designed to capture interaction patterns by integrating parenting behaviors with child temperament. The OPCII-1.0 assesses two neurobiological temperament dimensions, namely behavioral activation (BAS) and behavioral inhibition (BIS), which influence attention, emotional reactivity, needs, and behavior. These first-order dimensions shape six second-order traits: need for activity, autonomy, security, (quiet/loud × positive/negative) emotional expression, and effortful control. Parenting is conceptualized within two higher-order domains. Positive parenting includes sensitivity/responsiveness, social behavior regulation, cognitive support/stimulation, and regulating one’s own positive and negative emotions. Negative parenting encompasses denial of autonomy, passive and active rejection, intrusiveness, and rejection sensitivity. There are also indices for over- and underinvolvement as well as impaired predictability. Crossing four parenting constellations with four BIS/BAS-based child profiles yields 16 theoretically defined interaction patterns, which define a parenting-temperament misfit and enable risk prediction. We advance transparent and replicable test development through explicit item generation instructions (IGIs) and multi-source item content, as well as face and ecological validity pretesting with experts, novices and ChatGPT-4o. The planned analyses and validation criteria for the next steps in test development are presented.notReviewedothe

Zukunft erleben, Wandel gestalten: Die Kraft konkreter Utopien

    No full text

Code for: Not that different after all: Pro-environmental social norms predict pro-environmental behavior (also) among those believing in conspiracy theories

    No full text
Social norms are powerful predictors of pro-environmental behavior. At the same time, conspiracy beliefs are prevalent that can reduce individuals’ efforts to act pro-environmentally and might impede the influence of social norms. Across three cross-sectional studies in three countries (Germany, UK, US; total N = 1,037), we investigated the interplay between different types of social norm perceptions and conspiracy beliefs in predicting everyday pro-environmental behavior. Against two out of three hypotheses, we found no evidence that conspiracy beliefs moderated the relationship between perceived social norms and self-reported pro-environmental behavior. Rather, perceiving higher pro-environmental social (especially subjective and injunctive) norms was associated with more frequent pro-environmental behavior – also among those with stronger conspiracy beliefs. Conspiracy beliefs (especially those related to climate change) were, in turn, related to less pro-environmental behavior. These findings shed light on the social factors that might (also) influence individuals believing in conspiracy theories and give reason for optimism regarding the possibility to overcome their climate inaction via normative influence.Code for: Winter, K., Pummerer, L. & Sassenberg, K. Nash Equilibrium Explains Why Billionaires Exist. New Pairing Structures for the “Prisoner’s Dilemma”

    No full text
Nash Equilibrium allows for the analysis of a wide range of anthropological, economic, and psychological phenomena from a strictly logical perspective and with mathematical rigor. Nash proved that, in certain scenarios, all agents involved can make choices that are not the best, and yet it is not advantageous for them to change their decision. However, Nash’s original formulation only addresses the case in which individuals interact only once. The undue generalization of this solution to contexts with many agents and multiple interactions has generated misinterpretations with negative impacts on politics, economics, and other sectors, often resulting in significant waste of resources. In 1981 and 1984, tournaments conducted by Robert Axelrod showed that, in populations with varied profiles and numerous interactions, the most effective strategies are almost the opposite of those suggested by Nash. Since then, several studies have been conducted along the same lines, modifying parameters such as “number of agents”, “agent criteria”, “reward values”, etc. However, they did not explore changes in the structure of the pairing system, which are fundamental to understanding certain phenomena and to more faithfully reproducing the dynamics in real populations of living beings, especially complex human societies. In this article, we introduce a twofold methodological innovation: (a) new pairing structures that simulate partner selection in the real world and (b) a new metric capable of converting tournament scores into a scale that reflects inequalities of several orders of magnitude. The combined application of these tools reveals two crucial phenomena: first, the mechanism by which preferential cooperation amplifies inequality to levels compatible with the existence of billionaires; and second, how highly cooperative agents can become trapped in hostile environments due to the hermetic clustering that consolidates soon after the initial interactions, hindering social mobility, even when there are objective and measurable merits for advancement, a problem that requires urgent attention.notReviewedothe
