    KLARpsy-Text: Helfen Atemübungen bei Stress?

    No full text

CBM in Alcohol Use Disorder: Bayesian IPD Meta-Analysis

    No full text
Background: Recent advances in Cognitive Bias Modification (CBM) for problematic drinking, including Alcohol Use Disorder, alongside methodological refinements, warrant an update of the Individual Participant Data (IPD) Bayesian meta-analysis. This study integrates new datasets, focuses on alcohol CBM, and applies a two-stage IPD framework to examine CBM’s effects on cognitive bias, alcohol consumption, and relapse. Methods: A two-stage IPD Bayesian meta-analysis was performed, supplemented by frequentist sensitivity analyses. The first stage estimated study-specific CBM effects, the second stage pooled these to examine within-study moderators (adherence, addiction severity) and between-study moderators (CBM type, control condition, additional therapy, training congruency, and context). Results: 22 studies with 8,050 participants were included. CBM showed a small unadjusted effect on bias (d = -0.21, 95% CrI [-0.36, 0.00], BF₁₀ = 17.16) and relapse (log OR = -0.26, 95% CrI [-0.38, -0.13], BF₁₀ = 117.07; number needed to treat = 18.3), but not on alcohol consumption. Effects were attenuated after adjusting for moderators. Moderator analyses revealed that face-to-face CBM context (unadjusted and within-study adjusted) and additional psychological therapy (within-study adjusted) were associated with greater bias reduction, and higher training intensity (unadjusted) was related to better relapse prevention. Frequentist sensitivity analyses largely supported these findings. Conclusions: CBM reduced alcohol-related biases and relapse risk. Although overall evidence was no longer supported after adjusting for moderators, moderator analyses suggest CBM can be effective under specific conditions (e.g., face-to-face delivery, alongside therapy, higher training intensity). These findings underscore the need for refined, context-sensitive CBM protocols in alcohol interventions.notReviewedothe

"I feel what you feel" – Climate emotions and distress in families [Author Accepted Manuscript]

    No full text
The majority of young people report various emotions in relation to the climate crisis, with some even expressing climate distress. While it is likely that parents and caregivers shape how children and adolescents experience the climate crisis, the exact nature of these relations remains unknown. In our study, we hypothesized to find associations between parent and child climate emotions and climate distress, as well as correlations with child age. We conducted an online survey with N = 131 German parents of children aged 6 to 17 years, measuring sociodemographic variables, parent and child climate emotions (sadness, anger, and fear), and climate distress. Using an Actor Partner Interdependence model, we found that climate emotions and climate distress were positively correlated between parents and children. In both parents and children, climate emotions predicted climate distress. Child age was negatively related to parent climate emotions and distress, but was not significantly associated with child climate emotions and distress. These results highlight the importance of studying child and adolescent climate emotions in their social context, by considering the role and experiences of parents and caregivers.reviewedacceptedVersio

    No full text
Digitalen Gesundheitsanwendungen (DiGAs). The German version of the Telehealth Usability Questionnaire (G-TUQ) is used to evaluate the user-friendliness/usability of telehealth implementations and services, such as digital health applications (DiGAs). It comprises 21 items that reflect six usability factors (perceived usefulness, ease of use and learnability, interface quality, interaction quality, reliability, and satisfaction and future use). Reliability: For the German short version, Telehealth Usability and Perceived Usefulness Short Questionnaire (G-TUUSQ), internal consistencies of Cronbach α = .93 (factor 1: perceived usefulness for healthcare) and Cronbach α = .92 (factor 2: usability) were found. Validity: G-TUQ is content-valid. Both the long and short versions have been examined using factor analysis. Further investigations are still pending.reviewedpublishedVersio

Self-Referential Statements Shape Emotional Responses: Theory-Driven Development and Validation of a Database

    No full text
Self-referential statements—such as “I am worthy”—are central to emotional experience and therapeutic change, yet their direct emotional impact remains underexplored. This study developed and validated a theory-driven linguistic stimulus database of 117 positive and 117 negative self-referential statements grounded in schema therapy. In an online study with 291 participants, each statement was rated for valence, arousal, discrete emotions (e.g., joy, sadness), personal relevance, and familiarity. Valence and arousal ratings showed a strong linear relationship (r = .923, p < .001). Stepwise-regression analyses revealed that relevance and familiarity appraisals significantly predicted emotional responses to positive statements, explaining 39% of the variance (p < .001). For negative statements, these appraisals were predictive only for specific emotions, such as shame and loneliness. Discrete emotion ratings revealed systematic cognition–emotion links for 32 positive and 21 negative statements. This validated stimulus set fills a methodological gap in emotion research and provides a novel resource for investigating self-related emotional processing. It also offers a foundation for developing interventions aimed at modifying maladaptive self-beliefs in clinical settings.notReviewedothe

Conducting behavioural experiments using an app-based self-help program for social anxiety disorder (SMASH): Outcomes of a quasi-experimental pre-post pilot trial [Author Accepted Manuscript]

    No full text
Background. Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is a prevalent mental disorder characterised by fear of negative evaluation. Although effective treatment approaches are available, access remains limited due to psychological and organisational barriers. Internet-based cognitive behavioural therapy (iCBT) has shown promising results and may facilitate an easy and more resource-efficient access to treatment. Methods. We developed an app-based self-help intervention for SAD based on the Clark and Wells treatment program, implemented as an unguided smartphone application, which was evaluated in this quasi-experimental pre-post pilot study consisting of N = 33 patients with a primary diagnosis of SAD. Feasibility was assessed through usage parameters and qualitative feedback. Effectiveness was evaluated in regard to SAD and depression, using clinician-rated measures (LSAS, QIDS-C) at post-treatment (12 weeks) and self-report measures (SPIN, SCQ, BDI-FS) at midpoint and post-treatment. Additionally, moderating effects of usage parameters on symptom reduction were examined. Results. Clinician- and self-reported SAD symptoms were significantly reduced at post-measurement (within-group effect sizes LSAS: η^2 = .54; SPIN: η^2 = .47), with 52% of patients achieving a clinically significant improvement. Despite moderate overall adherence, the amount of conducted behavioural experiments moderated reduction in self-reported SAD symptom severity and SAD-related cognitions. Open feedback supported feasibility and acceptability of the app. Conclusion. In conclusion, findings provide preliminary support for feasibility, acceptability, and potential effectiveness of Mindable: Soziale Phobie. A randomised controlled trial will further evaluate the effectiveness and explore the impact of therapist guidance.Mindable Health GmbHreviewedacceptedVersio

Writing your self. Writing a novel as a method for identity work and to induce meaning in creative writing groups

    No full text
This paper explores how writing a novel, especially a coming-of-age-novel, as „fictional autobiography“ in a creative writing group can support identity work and induce meaning. The structure is based on the tetradic system to stimulate a learning process according to the hermeneutic spiral. Through the process of writing and subsequent narrations according to narrative biography work, participants can become aware of their resources and development. Thereby, the four paths of healing and promotion come to bear: self-knowledge through the reflection of your own story, the experience of belonging and solidarity in the group, the promotion of exploratory curiosity and creative expression in writing, gaining an eccentric overview of one’s own life and world.https://www.fpi-publikation.de/polyloge/12-2025-hitz-j-sich-selbst-schreiben-das-schreiben-eines-romans-als-methode-zur-identitaetsarbeit-und-sinnfindung-in-kreativen-schreibgruppen/peerReviewedpublishedVersio
