    KLARpsy-Text: Macht Koffein ängstlich?

    No full text

    No full text

Developing an understanding of repeating patterning [Author Accepted Manuscript]

    No full text
Patterning knowledge encompasses the ability to notice and use predictable sequences, and identifying, extending, and describing patterns in objects and numbers are core to mathematical thinking. Identifying the pattern rule (e.g., the unit of repeat) is often considered an indicator of patterning understanding. The goal of the current paper is to consider potential operationalizations of repeating patterning understanding, as well as expand the toolkit for measuring repeating patterning understanding. The Early Patterning Assessment (EPA) is a research instrument that can be given online or in person, using mostly selected-response items. Across four rounds of data collection in the U.S. (n = 244) and one study in Türkiye (formerly known as Turkey) (n = 107), the repeating patterning measure was a reliable measure for 4-7-year-old children, with scores increasing with age. It was also easier and faster to administer than past assessments that used constructed response items. IRT Rasch models were used to assess construct validity and identify the difficulty level of different types of items, within a Construct Modeling Approach (Wilson, 2005). Complete the pattern was the easiest task, and explicitly identifying the unit of repeat was the most difficult task. We considered three potential indicators of repeating patterning understanding and suggested operationalizing children’s understanding of repeating patterns as demonstrating spontaneous use of correct procedures across multiple tasks and pattern units.Part of this research was funded by the United States Institute of Education Sciences (IES) Grant # R305A160132; Part of this research was supported by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) Grant No: 1059B191802263reviewedacceptedVersio

Partner Intervention to Reduce Meat Consumption (PAIR): The Effectiveness of Dyadic Behavior Change Techniques

    No full text
This study investigates the specific involvement of partners in dyadic interventions, focusing on how the intervention task (what is performed), the execution level (who performs the task) and the target level (for whom is the task performed) of dyadic behavior change techniques influence intervention effectiveness. We examine the impact of systematically varying execution and target levels across four intervention tasks (i.e., review of past mastery experiences, review of skills, weighing of pros and cons and recognition of health risks) on the intention to reduce meat consumption. Mechanisms of action for behavior change will be analyzed to gain initial insights into the underlying processes of dyadic behavior change. 3200 individuals will be recruited via Bilendi (https://www.bilendi.ch/) in Germany. We will conduct an experimental online study with a between-subjects design introducing the hypothetical scenario of a romantic couple receiving a dyadic intervention to reduce their meat consumption.unknownothe

    No full text
Nonverbal communication is a crucial yet often overlooked dimension of psychotherapy, contributing significantly to alliance building, emotional regulation, and therapeutic outcomes. This article explores the role of nonverbal behaviors – including facial expressions, gestures, and postural synchrony – in the therapeutic dyad with a special emphasis on the therapist, whose nonverbal behaviors have often not been considered in psychotherapeutic research. Given the modern Zeitgeist the paper examines challenges and opportunities posed by a rather new and vastly growing development in psychotherapy: teletherapy, where nonverbal dynamics are limited yet also enriched by technological innovations. Through a synthesis of empirical studies and clinical insights, the article underscores the necessity of fostering nonverbal communication skills; – especially in the psychotherapy practitioners – to strengthen the therapeutic relationship in both traditional and virtual settings. The findings advocate for greater emphasis on nonverbal competencies in psychotherapy training to meet the demands of fast evolving therapeutic contexts.

    No full text

Children’s early math problem-solving: The role of parent numeracy practices, numeracy expectations, and math attitudes [Author Accepted Manuscript]

    No full text
This study allows for the examination of associations between components of the home mathematics environment – including parents’ formal numeracy practices, math attitudes, and numeracy expectations – and children’s development of math problem solving skills following the transition into formal school. Sixty-six children from three schools in the Southeastern United States were assessed six times across kindergarten and first grade using a battery of academic and cognitive measures – including a task that evaluated children’s strategy use and accuracy while solving basic arithmetic problems. Parents reported the frequency with which they engaged in formal numeracy practices in the home, their attitudes towards mathematics, and their numeracy expectations for their child. Results from growth curve models, controlling for parents’ education and children’s working memory, revealed that neither parents’ numeracy practices nor their expectations accounted for differences in children’s development, but that children with parents who held more negative views towards math entered kindergarten with lower math problem-solving skills (both accuracy and strategy use) than their peers. However, children who entered kindergarten with lower skills demonstrated greater improvement in their scores over the course of the two years. Findings highlight the importance of examining aspects of the home mathematics environment other than numeracy practices – such as parents’ math attitudes – as they relate to children’s mathematical development. This work was supported by the Institute of Education Sciences, U.S. Department of Education (Grant R305A 170637) awarded to Jennifer L. Wissenslücken und nachhaltiger Konsum: Mangelndes Lösungswissen bremst die Nachhaltige Transformation

    No full text

Self-Worth Regulation and Decentering in Psychosomatic Rehabilitation: The Influence of Mindfulness and Meditation on Self-Esteem

    No full text
Self-esteem is a central psychological resource influencing how individuals cope with mental health challenges. In psychosomatic rehabilitation, patients with elevated depressive symptoms often struggle with negative self-perceptions and maladaptive self-worth regulation. This study examines how mindfulness and meditation interventions influence decentering and adaptive self-worth regulation, and whether habitual tendencies like self-verification affect these processes. Findings aim to inform interventions that support recovery and enhance psychological resilience.unknownothe
